Title: Stupid MIDIs
Post by: lilsniffs3 on October 18, 2007, 12:10:07 AM
I've had this problem before, and fixed it just by restarting my cpu. Now, here's what I did:

Reinstalled Rpg Maker
Checked the other songs that were MIDIS
Checked other games
Checked the files

Today, I was using Windows Media Player, then I went to Rpg Maker with it still on, the song was still playing. I clicked on the song, it worked! I press pause on Media Player, the song stopped on Rpg Maker. I played it again, but pressed stop. The song wouldn't play. I changed the song, and it worked. All the songs worked except for the one I was playing. I close Windows Media, the song stopped, nothing works. Any ideas?

Well first off, a lot of programs have problems running files opened in other location. So if you have a song playing with media player, it could make it unplayable in rm2k3 as long as media player has it opened.

What is likely the case here is that windows media player mutes your midi playback when it stops. To check this, before you play a song in rm2k3, double click on the sound icon at the lower right of your screen to bring up the 'Master Volume' control pannel. You should see a Master volume column on the left, and then there should be more columns on the right such as WAV and SW Synth Make sure SW Synth is not muted, and the volume for it is up. SW Synth is the volume for midis, and if its on mute or all the way down, you wont be able to hear them even though you can hear other sounds from your system.

In Rpg 2k3, or Media? In media, I can't find it.

In windows... Its usually next to your clock on the lower left of the screen, somtimes its hidden, in which case you need to press the < button by your clock to unhide all the hidden icons down there.

I'll just upload a screenshot of what I mean.

Sounds like the same problem I had.
Turned out that my cousin muted that sound when they "borrowed" my computer.

I thought it was the Rpgm2k3 volume settings that DB was refering to but yeah... Just needed some clarification.

Well, I didn't do anything, since that button only shows one slider, but today, I began listening to this song.

My SW Synth goes down to 0 like once a day automatically for some reason. it's annoying. That's how I realised what prplmage's problem was.

The same thing happened every week, since I updated Windows Media Player.
