Title: Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed

Also, I may not be on from when they release until I get 100% on each of them. I will have.... pneumonia. Yeah, pneumonia.

You sir are now number three in my respect book. However, you lose some respect for disliking western RPGs.

Archem please tell me more about this "reliable word". All I'd heard were rumours based on some kind of futuristic health bar and the load thing saying "load another memory". Tell me more.

On an amusing note, wearing full Khezu armour in Monster Hunter Freedom 2 makes you look almost exactly like Altair.

Post by: Archem on October 22, 2007, 12:33:10 PM: Somewhere in one of my GIs, there's a spot where they talk to the devs about AC, and one thing they said that really got me thinking was that the devs hinted quite a bit that there would be a sci-fi twist later in the game (perhaps time travel or aliens?). I'll try later to see if I can find the article.

There was a video showing some sci-fi-esque stuff, and in one of the screenshots when the player died it said "load another memory?".

I really do hope they don't make it all futuristic though. It'll be worse than Capcom putting Monster Hunter 3 on the Wii. It's one of those "just no" things.

Post by: aboutasoandthis on October 22, 2007, 08:05:09 PM: About the time travel thing, there was an interview somewhere saying that the assassin talks in a modern-day accent while everyone else in the game speaks with a harsh, arabesque one. I'm guessing you're actually playing as a guy from the future.

They also said the game is a three part series. I wouldn't be surprised if the last one is in the future.

Post by: Razor on October 22, 2007, 11:42:45 PM: I saw the Assassin's Creed E3 thing and I was highly unimpressed.

Mainly because of some embarrassing bugs and graphical problems (yes it looks pretty, but falling of a church and falling into a pile of hay without the hay moving at all looks really bad) but it does look pretty repetitive, and the fighting looks gimped. In one scene the player was surrounded by like 7 guys, and he fights them one on one while the living guys stand around watching!

Mass Effect on the other hand, you get to have lesbian sex with an alien if you play as a female character.

I won't be buying/playing either.

What exactly is so great about Mass Effect. The graphics look great, and the scale of the game sounds nice, but I still don't see it.

Post by: Roland_Deschain2 on October 23, 2007, 06:55:40 PM: Well, I detest Jrpgs for the most part, few exceptions include FF1 due to nostalgia reasons and FF7 for story reasons. However, western RPGs are one of my favorite genres, and BioWare has created Baldur's Gate 1 and 2, my favorite games of all time, and KoTOR, which is in third. Any BioWare game is a huge announcement as far as I'm concerned.

In other words, those of us that enjoy western RPGs are fanatical about Mass Effect, the first besides Oblivion to come out since Jade Empire, which was WAY too short.
