Yes. I've seen some images and it's not so much of a change. XV is like XP but with slightly different graphics and oldschool rpgmaker2000 battle system.

I was expecting a 3d maker or something along the lines.
A "tales of" battle engine in a new rpgmaker would be welcome, btw.

dude there are tales of scripts, plug and play style for XP all over the place.

Are we talking like, theyre utilizing battle characters? That woulkd be sweet.

I always thought a menu item for quicki and easy changes to the battle system would be sweet. Like, pre made templates, in program.

Im looking forward

I don't like xp. There's something about xp that makes me stay away from it.

Anyway, heres some new images of rpgmaker XV.

The good: Faces.

The bad: outdated battle system.

The ugly: rpgmaker xp reloaded.

the window skins are nice.
I like the squat looking RTP
The tiles are lame though

However, that picture of the database...with the icons on some sort of chipset....Im going to assume its some sort of Inventory thing

It looks sweet.
Ill buy this when an english translation is available

According to enterbrain, they're trying to make "rpgmaking" simplier

i.e.
http://www.enterbrain.co.jp/tkool/products/rpgvx/2-1.jpg

All you need is one click to create the house base.

so like, houses would be built via some sort of autotile? Neat.

However, this will make custom chip making much more complicated for me im sure.

I actually heard of this at Gaming World and I'm really excited for it. It's actually a reverb back to RM2k-3 style scripting, but you're allowed to put in XP scripts. I hate how you have to script in XP so I'm glad they're going back to the old way.

I mostly want the screen resolution. That's another thing I hate about XP. Everything either looks big and spacey, especially the fonts. This one is back to being compact and nice looking.

VX also allows 32-Bit PNGs. This means you can put in alpha channels so things like fog and animations can look nicer. I probably won't be buying it though.  :(

This is one one step closer to my dream RPG Maker!  Now all they need is an RM2k3 Battle style and  I'm all set!

I actually like the bigger screen size though. It would allow you more space to put a CMS or something of the sort.  Maybe not completely XP size but in the middle.

And I think they have it so then you can have all  you icons on those larger sheets as to save on the numbers of files you have. Thats the thing I hate about XP. =p

Have they released an article in English we can read?  (If so... LINK?)

I think its alright. After all you never really know if its going to be good  until you play with it for a bit and find out what you really can do with it.

I was doing research on this for an article; however, it's hard to find any decent info (in englsih). I think it's gonna be an upgrade like from 2000 to 2003. Not much differance overall, just a few minor changes from xp. A little simpler? How much more simpler can enterbain make rpg maker? Especially without taking away from customization options.

I think enterbain should work on giving use something 'new' in terms of rpg maker. Instead of releasing a slightly modifed version of their old maker, they should try to make a new one such as a 3D rpg maker or a maker for action battle systems or something. Then, after one of their makers gets out of date, remake it at lot better instead or remaking it after a few years with just minor changes.

True, but then the 3D design could be a curse within itself. It's already very hard to find good, free 3D Models and textures. I should know.

It happened with the Sims. After it made the jump to 3D, a lot of people stopped playing because it demanded more work to create custom content. I've made a few custom 3D objects myself. It's hell. You have to model it, texture it, test it to make sure it doesn't have too many polygons, make sure the files don't take up space on your computer, etc. I don't even truely design my models. I just draw them with Sketchup, and even that is hard. A lot of these 3D custom sites will want you to pay for content.

I think it's the right thing to go back to 2k&3. I wouldn't mind if it has some 3D options in it though. Maybe an FFTactics styled system, or a 3D world map airship system would be nice.

Thats very true, maybe a game like this could come with its own 3d editing program? A very simple one at least just allowing you to import your own textures, and modeling polygons.

The thing is, if someone bought rpg maker XP, they would maybe have time to complete a game before the next one comes out. They release new versions all the time with very simular features. I actually didn't see how XP's scripting was ANY differant from 2k3s (not talking about ruby). As far as I could tell, it had all the same commands, just a few less for face graphics, message commands, and some minor stuff like that. The most important features were still all there though.

It would just be nice to see a wider variety of game makers rather than a bunch of remakes.
