Some of you may recognize what I'm doing here. This is my response to a... let's say a certain recent "something" that I've been noticing from someone lately. I know this has been done before, but I'm curious to see if you know what I'm getting at. :p

sounds like good ol' RRWP :p
-
Haha, I've heard of him. I wasn't here yet when he was around though.
-
I'd be surprised if it wasn't about me...
I THINK I KNOW WHO IT IS!!!!!!!@#!!!!!!!!!11!!!!!@E!!@

+5 awesome points to you.

Well then... Dandy.

It's Dragoon del Sol, isn't it?
Because I was damn near doing a comic like that.
-
That figures >_>
Last time I give any damn crititue. I'll just tell them it looks good like everyone else.
Lying is the way to go, apparently.

Hey! And the birds are moving!

Not so much that you don't lie, but so much that you make unfounded critiques based on ludicrous ideas that have no sound footing all for the sake of pointing out a flaw.
Comic artists don't know how to sprite my ***.

Fine. I'm done then.

My thoughts exactly. It really isn't like me to do something like this, as I think many would know, but I thought I might make it a bigger deal than it really is, not just because I was a bit bored when I did this, but because I thought doing it in an indirect way might have a more effective impact. I'm glad to see I'm not alone here.
Basically, what I'm trying to say is that doing this may not have been a better way of going about it, but I wanted to see the effect compared to the usual, "Listen, blah blah blah your posts are overly critical mini-mod mini-mod why don't you just say it nicer?" I know Moose has already done this sort of thing (much better done too as I generally don't do much with images), but after seeing its generally positive effect I figured I'd go for it.
The point I'm trying to make is not that you have to give up critiquing. Obviously, I failed. But I can think of two examples (among others) that stand out right now. First, there was the lonewolf incident. Lonewolf is one of the few people who actually responds to some of the many unanswered requests we get here. Albeit he may not always do them well, as some of them are pretty difficult, the fact that we have a member who would go ahead and do that serves as a means of communicating good vibes from the community. If you honestly didn't know he typed like that (which I think you did), then you could have at least said you would like to comment but could not understand what he was trying to say. The sarcasm, which you presented as a juvenalian satire of lonewolf's post, simply doesn't help your image. As for the second example, it's the same basic idea without the satire, but one line that sticks out in my mind is "8d? Can you move in 8 dimensions?" That only makes you look bad. You're sarcastically rhetorically questioning him based on an assumption on an issue that should have been pretty clear to begin with. If you didn't realize that he meant 8 directions, then why not just ask something like, "What exactly do you mean by 8d? 8 dimensions?" In short, this is a long-winded way of asking, "What's so hard about being at least somewhat nice?" A lot of your posts ended up with the result of something along the lines of "I still wouldn't play this" anyway. In that case, why post at all? Once again, I'm hoping you aren't taking my critiquing of your critiquing the wrong way, and if this really offends you, then I apologize. I thought putting it in a more subtle, playful light might help.
Thanks if you (any of you) read this lengthy post. I try not to go on too long, but when I have a point, I want to make sure it's fully understood without lacking acknowledgment to too many points of refutation.

It takes three elements to make a great insult comic:
1. Ensure it will cause enough of a stir to be noticed.
2. Ensure that the person won't be so insulted that they react badly.
3. Ensure that the comic itself is entertaining.
You missed 2 and 3. You do not pass Go. You do not collect $200.
I'd make a response comic but it's not really worth my time.

Huh... well, whatever. I guess you're like that even to people who agree with you. Well, #2 is all a combination of reputation and luck (and I'm getting ready to be burned about why I'm wrong on this one). I have no established reputation of even having an opinion, which probably makes it more insulting coming from me, and I was really hoping this would go over smoothly, but I have to say I did completely fail at that, and probably not just because I was unlucky that Dragoon took it that way. But that just reinforces my point that there's a first time for everything.
It's no excuse, but still, I never do anything like this. But I suppose if you try something you'll have to endure everything. Maybe it's a bit hypocritical of me to be a critic criticizing critics, but then, I attempted to explain myself, but no one wants to read something so long. So I rest my case: Internet + Politics + Offensively Negative Criticism = One hell of a mess.

i come back, and this was the first thread I saw.
hee hee hee hee.
Point well made. I el'd

It's actually more of the irony that I gave you negative criticism for a comic mocking someone for giving negative criticism. Look at your own reaction and then maybe you'll start to understand a little better what it's like to be on both sides of criticism.
If I thought you couldn't handle it I wouldn't have said it in the first place. :P

Haha, good point. I really have nothing else to say.
