Title: Your puzzle ideas for RPG Maker 2003?
Post by: SuperPhillip on December 29, 2007, 06:19:21 PM
I'm wanting to place some more puzzles later on in my game.
What kind of ideas do you have in your games?

You'd be surprised how little, impossibly easy traps and stuff like spikes that pop up from the ground and go back down and you have to time your run to avoid them spices up a dungeon. When you're making it it seems pointless but it's basically supposed to be a monotany breaker.

You can have tiles on the floor that you have to click on to change their colour to make a pattern. The pattern can be one that's on a piece of paper the party find elsewhere in the dungeon, or even made up of two halves of a torn piece of paper so you have to find both and imagine what they'd look like together. You'd have to make the pieces of paper pictures...

Sometimes really simple puzzles become more interesting if you combine them... The boulder pushing puzzle works quite well with the one where you press different switches to open different doors and close other doors.

Yeah, switches and pushing things really takes some time to finish. Try to add combo-thingies as well. That you press things/defeat things in a special order or a set ammount of times.

Light and blow out candles/torches is a classic as well.

Or redirecting rivers to get acces... Well, can't think of anything more actually.
