Oh, btw, Garland is also in FF9, which you may have already know anyway. But that makes him more major since he plays a big role in that game.

similar to SSB, you just press the button for the type of attack you want (HP or Brave) and move the control stick.
Reaction Commands lol-
When you approach certain surfaces or objects, a small prompt will come up, similar to reaction command form KH2. if you press the button shown, you'll do some cool acrobatic move, like a wall run or a long jump. sounds like the end scene from ff7:AC.
The Environment and how to smash it-
The different stages will not be boring flat plains, the game will feature levels similar to that of a 3d platformer. the interesting bit is, you can smash most things with your attacks, but they will regenerate over time.
Level the **** up soldier!!-
You gain experience and gil with each victory (after the obligatory battle winning tune). gil can buy new weapons and hopefully other things. not much is revealed about exp, but it should allow cool customization (and you can level up).
And regarding the PSP-
I think it will be released on the PSP first, and if it becomes popular enough, be ported to the PS2 and PS3 (via playstation network)

But yeah, large difference between the two Garlands. One was a knightly person who kidnapped the princess for a ransom/power/something. The other one worked behind the scenes and were a mix of magician and scientist...
Hear about this a while back but there haven't been enough facts to start speculating. As long as they put a taboo on the Ivalice characters then I'm fine. No more Vaan or cheesy girls...

Who doesn't really exist in the games anymore but it needs the few who actually does.

Quite simple actually... Square gave him a new form that might just remind you of another character in another fighting game...
But you can see the resembles in the outfitt if you compare it to the guy in the back of the Final Fantasy 1 remake logo.

I don't think Locke is as essential a charater to FFVI as, say, Terra. If a main character from VI was represented, it had better be her.

I thought that garland ended up being Chaos in the end of FF1... Maybe I read the storyline... or lack of... wrong.

One that is older/younger and have completed everything so he turns into chaos again and the one who tries to knock you down.

Ok, I got it now...
Spoiling!
The four fiends sends Garland back through time and brings him back to life... Why? So that he can unlight the crystals to let out the monsters and then awaken the fiends in 200 years and send them to Final Fantasy's current time.
So... In other words:
They send him back so he can send them to the future... Endless circle as they will send him back once again ect.

Anyway, it seems to me every company is doing that now, cross-over battle or adventure games.
I'm not complaining, it's awesome, and if there's any chance this'll make to the PS2 it'll be awesomer. *waits for a sudden burst of YouTube videos of "Sephiroth vs Cloud"*
