Title: Trouble importing faceset into RPG maker 2000
Post by: ninjamitsuki on January 17, 2008, 07:02:45 PM
I'm REALLY sorry if this is the wrong forum...

There was a thread made by a person with the exact same problem from YEARS ago, and it helped me figure out how to import charasets, but I still can't import facesets.

[this is the thread I'm talking about: http://charas-project.net/forum/showthread.php?threadid=5434&forumid=4&catid=8]

Obviously I can't bump that thread back up, but I did what the OP said worked for charasets, and it worked for me, but the OP didn't say what worked for him for facesets... And the one the other guy suggested doesn't work for me... I know I'm confusing you, just read the thread to understand what I'm talking about... What I'm basically saying is what size I have to make the faceset in order for it to be able to imported into RPG Maker 2000...

The Rpgmaker 2003 facesets are 192x192 at least, no idea about 2k though.
Might be the same.

Yup... I tried making them 192x192 [even filled in the white with green] and it still says "The size of the bitmap is illegal"

192x 192 is the size of rpg maker 2000's rtp facesets... so....  rm2k hates you.

you might not have it at 256 colors.

Is it a PNG first of all? I know that the 2k3 has some problem with the BMP.

First of all, it's RPG Maker 2000, and I tried it as both a png and a bitmap, but it still won't work...

What you can do is to try importing the rtp facesets into the game, IF for some odd reason the rtp facesets aren't working, then your program is screwed up and you should try downloading a differant version of the program, or move to rm2k3. If the facesets do work, check to see thier dimensions, maybe they're differant than normal... for some odd reason. Anyway, if you can import the rtp ones and cant import others, attach the faceset you want to import and I'll try it on my computer and find out whats up with it.

Are you using MS Paint? If so, you should know that it counts the top left corner as 0,0. If you are looking at the coordinates at the edge, it is different from RPG Maker coordinates. Try making it 191x191 instead.
Also, you can export an RTP faceset from the Import/Export Resources tool,
then fill it with the background color and edit from there.
