Is there a policy or some kind of copyright on using real music in your games? I noticed Carpe Diem uses the Xenosaga music which makes the game seem brilliant. If so I'm totally gonna pimp my game with FFX music and nothing else! I just feel cheap using other people's tunes but yet again all the midis I put in my game are taken from people anyway.

You aren't publishing the game or trying to turn profit on it, so feel free to use whatever graphics or music you want, they don't care.
-
What about music that's not from any game, but made by some artist?
-
Ask them, if you feel guilty. Generally though, if they put it on the internet, they want it to be used. Who wouldn't want their music reaching other people in as many ways as possible?
-
I'm certain it's alright, so long as you don't sell it for money. Besides, for your innovative game contest, I'm gonna be using some MYST tracks... Yeah.
-
My copy of Digital Devil Saga 2 came with the whole soundtrack on cd sooooo.......
-
Thanks everybody because I have some brilliant songs for my game!
-
Just make sure to credit them for it
-
Its not like you're already using a illegal version of RPG Maker...
-
And illegaly ripped resources.
-
Well that one is only possibly. Since he could be using the generator.
-
Let see.... My game uses a keygened version of RMXP, Ripped Tales of The World ND3 Chars and Battlers, ripped music from various games and features Sol Badguy who is a copyrighted character as a secret boss.

MYST music = awesome.

Be aware that mp3s can easily be 90%+ of your total file size for these games. If you start adding in too many awesome tracks, your file will become huge. Depending on who people are, they might not want to spend the time or disk space to download an amateur game.
-
Well I'm releasing 2 versions.
Standard is like any old rm2k/rm2k3 game.
Platinum will be like a real game, animated cutscenes, MP3 music and voice acting, with the filesize of a proper game.
-
Your game is starting to sound cool.
My game has loads of MP3's, since it's music-based, and it lags unless played in F5 mode, so my guess is, the Platinum version will lag like hell on a computer like mine. You should probably find a MIDI version of the FFX songs you have, even though I'm not sure if they have less file size.

Most definitely. For every 1 FFX MP3 you use, you can fit about 50 midis instead.

Yeah a midi is like 30KB but then again, MP3s use up more space for a reason. Like I said, people can witness both of them. One as a stand-alone and one which will be rich with sound and graphics for people with nice computers!
