what program do you guys use to edit sprites for rm?
-
Photoshop, just because of the ease that the keyboard shortcuts for tools makes things.
-
MS Paint.
Using anything else (unless you are doing the thing to keep your colors from changing) is for pussies.
-
MS paint

Or people who realize you can make your work easier and less tedious. :p I used paint for so long, and once I got PS, I tried it again. Such a relative pain in the ***.
-
I use MS Paint. PS is nice, but I'm just more efficient with Paint somehow.
-
Guys, I'd like to see some spriting tutorials, so that I can try to get that right...can you recommend any?
I'm thinking about editing the White Ties templates such as the one's below, to make this fellow here:

The sprites:

I've two options: learn or ask. I think I'll try and learn first...if it's the case, I'll do it me'self heh.
EDIT 2: DO NOT use those battlers without giving credit to Dollmage, from RMXP.org.
-
sorry for asking but whats MS paint?
-
Idraw, Ultimate Paint, AND Photoshop. They all have their uses.

It's the default drawing program that comes with PCs that run a Microsoft OS. You know. Paint.
-
Just Paint and IDraw. And UltimateFX for converting.
-
I use the standar Microaoft Paint, and then Irfan view to decrease colour depth and the saturation from times to time.
-
MS Paint and PS for recolors.
-
-
paint.net
its a cool program y'know.

Yeah, I use MSpaint for the main stuff.
Paintshop I use for adding special effects. IDRAW I use for pallete editing, and GraphicsGale for properly rotating sections and converting to 256 color quality. GameMaker is used to compile up GIF animations, and finally Windows GIF editor for determining how long each frame stays around in an animation.

cool sooo can anybody give me a breif tutorial on spriting with MS paint? because the majority of u guys use paint. i use idraw and paint for copying and pasting on idraw. like i dont know how to make things transparent with paint.

Can someone tell my why this looks so bad? (i'm trying to do a hair over the original one, sprite NOT by me.)
-
I think it needs less straight lines in the hair. Y'know, chop a few pixels off the back, make the head look more rounded that way.

What about the colors? In the real size it looks...shiny.

Karl, you should use Idraw. MS Paint is worse than Idraw, IMO, and I really dunno why peoples use it. The only reason I can think of, is because they think it is cool :D
But I am sure it is not because it is better.
well i kno but im having problem opening files with idraw, and when i copy it with paint the colors are incorrect

Might have been a good idea to give us the original size along with the blownup size...

That hair looks pretty good to me, Gabriel. Remember that you won't be able to sprite the rest of his body as well as the template sprite- currently his hair stands out, but if you do the entire body it'll all be in your style and it'll probably look fine.

1. The hair definitely needs more contrast. Just because white is a bright colour doesn't mean it doesn't have shadows.
2. The styles clash. The hair has a clearly seen outline, whereas the rest of the body doesn't.
3. Make sure that, just like the body, the light source is top-left.

What about this one?
-
too much undefines white in the hair. Needs some definition in the highlights. Fill the whole head with your midtones, and highlight sparringly
-
Okay, I say some of Grandy's stuff and I thought I'd try it meself...How about this one?
