So anyway I've got a totally pimp laptop just now this week (My old comp could barely play rpg maker games :x) and I'm thinking to get some games on this b*tch. Spore's in the mail and I'm lookin' to grab me some oblivion also. Any PC gamers 'round here got any suggestions?
This is my razor impression: ooh red buy team fortress 2 it's the greatest gwa gwa gwa gwa srsly is it razor IS IT?
Chip's Challenge.
I don't play a lot of new games... Because my computer doesn't handle them well. I want to play Oblivion, but my computer doesn't run it well, even with the Oldblivion patch, so I have to be satisfied with Morrowind... Which is a great game that I'd recommend any day. Some say it's better than Oblivion even. I don't know myself.
I mostly just emulate old SNES games... (Emulation in itself isn't illegal as far as I know, downloading ROMs are, so let's just assume that I have legal means of aquiring ROMs...)

Indeed, I'd heard that the price of full voice acting was a sharp decrease in actual dialogue. Might hunt for both.
I was an avid emulator but since the Virtual Console came out I no longer feel morally justified. That said, I still download plenty of other illegal stuff. I guess I just can't steal from the big N. I love 'em too much.

I don't know how it is in comparision with Oblivion... But Morrowind is seriously one of the best games I have ever played. As if that game wasn't the definition of freedom already, there are mods to give you even more opportunities. Yes, mods are an important part of the game, so if you get it, make sure you get both expansions aswell so you can use any mods you want.
Also, most of what I emulate will probably never appear on the Virtual Console. I love playing all these japanese RPGs that were never released in english, so thank [STRIKE]God[/STRIKE] Steve Harris for fan translations.

My favourite PC games were mechcommander and Populous: the beginning. Doubt that's the sort of thing you're looking for though. Giants: Citizen Kabuto is funny as hell in places, so you might wanna think about finding that somewhere.

Red.
Orchestra.
It's apparent why you should invest in this title.

I'm wondering if it's worth getting the orange box or not. I know I'm late on the bandwagon here but I don't want to miss out on playing portal, team fortress 2... well... I'm not an FPS whore (anymore) and I'm not into half-life either. Is Half Life 2 episode 2 worth it if you've never played the others? Help me out here guys.

God yes. Also, I'd recommend getting both Baldur's Gate games, and then download the Tutu mod which lets you play BG1 with the BG2 engine, and all the new classes in it and such.

Age of Mythology.
Don't judge me.
-
Neverwinter is good, Unreal Turny is pretty damn good to.
And dragonium (not worth hitting backspace to cap the d in his name) is right. I don't care how queer it looks for me to say this. It's a fun game.

Bioshock! You've seen the adverts! they make no sense! But get it anyway! It's a terrifying, addicitive, innovative masterpiece well worth its 95%. It's a FPS with tons of RPG elements and a hella lot to do. It's got one hell of a storyline and one creepy, nostalgic atmosphere!

I'd say the Trackmania Series is nice. One of their games actually has a free sample available for download.
Speaking of free games, if you go hunting for Independent games, you're bound to find a stockpile of surprisingly quality little games now and then. Examples of this include things like Toribash, Fraxy, Battleships Forever... They're probably not as quality as the things that cost cash, but they're all quite good considering.
There's also The Movies, which is a pretty fun little toy of a game. It's good as a strategy game, but excellent as a movie-making tool. It has a very large online community that usually shares the movies made, which is a large part of why the game is really nice.
I've never really played it, but Overlord looks like a fun and silly little strategy-adventure game where you take control of an evil overlord with a ton of little goblins that help him out.
I dunno what else. Most of the big suggestions were already made.

The Orange Box is well worth your money. Team Fortress 2 is a blissfully awesome multiplayer game, Portal is a short but sweet puzzle game that is sure to leave a smile on your face, and Half-LifeČ - Episode 2 is a short romp through an incredible world with amazing story throughout, but I'd recommend playing the rest of the series first, since there's tons of ginormous spoilers throughout. Of course, the three games are split now, and sell for, like, $20 each now, so if you don't want the whole thing, just get what you do want.
-
Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuudeeee... I just played most of Quest For Glory 5, and it rooooockkksssss @.@ GET IT. NAO. WHETHER IT BE BUYING IT OR OTHER WAYS.
-
If you haven't played it, Cave Story is a cool little platformer. It doesn't have cutting-edge graphics, but there's a cool plot and it's just so darn fun to control.
-
Meh, honestly Cave Story looks stupid :<
-
Cave Story for me was immensely fun. Then I learned that I had stepped two pixels to the left or someshit when I shouldn't have, then found out after I beat the game that I actually didn't beat the game because of it. I haven't played it since.
-
Yeah, that happened to me as well
