Article (http://www.nikondigital.org/dps/dps-v-4-08.htm)
This is, disturbing at best.

Link doesn't work.

Read the article elsewhere (dont have the link right now).
It's ludicrous. If the bill DOES get passed, kiss the current art-world goodbye. Legalizing theft of your creations unless they're 'registered' under private company copyrights?
Yeah.... no.

Thats a bit dramatic, dontchyathink? You know...like, how art existed and thrived for millenia before the advent of cameras and photography? Lol.
You know, Im all for this, as long as they can refine the definition of a "diligent search" into something that wouldnt be freely abused. I dont think thats the intent. I think the idea here is to avoid potential legal ramifications on using historic or educational photgraphs for the intent of archiving history. I agree that some of the 'grey areas' need to be worked out...but really The internet itself is far more of a threat to photographers then this.
But then again, I am not a photographer.

Yeah, I suppose I overreacted a bit.
Still really sketchy about it though.

If there is not more done to refine "diligent search" I will too be sketchy about it.
Also: Your sig is rad. I cant believe i never noticed it before
-
My sig?
Heh. I think it's cause I rarely ever post.
This is certainly something I need to read up on more though. Hrm...

I'm so glad you guys didn't react like deviantart. It was like the damn sky was falling. As it stands, I'm really not for it, but the idea isn't a bad one.
