Title: Songs you're ashamed to like
Post by: Zerlina on June 07, 2008, 04:02:52 AM
Ok so for me it's...

Fergalicious (dear gawd)
I'm irritated every time I play it, I find it terribly obnoxious....and yet I can't stop listening to it.

also Crank Dat, and (sigh) Mmmbop!

So what're the songs you're ashamed to like?

Nothing that I listen to embarrasses me. Anything that I find embarrassing is only so because it's so terrible that I'd be ashamed to be caught listening to something so bad. If I like it, I'm not embarrassed to admit that I like it.

anything top 40 i get a little embarrassed about, but honestly, if it was THAT embarrassing, i wouldn't like it. I'm pretty proud of the music i enjoy.

ON A RELATED NOTE:
I went and saw Iron Maiden tonight. It was the best show ive ever seen in my life.

I will never agree with Archem any percent.

And yeah, Aqua is where it's at.
"My Oh My, Dr. Jones! You're my Lolipop, so let's fly away to Bounty Land!"
"Alright Barbie, I'll call up the Cartoon Heroes and we can all meet up with Happy Boys and Happy Girls."

No matter what mood I was in before though, all those flamboyant techno songs with a high- pitched girl singing and a guy with a really deep European voice saying 3 or 4 lines, always put me in a good one.

You know, when I made this topic, I was too embarassed to admit I have Aquarium (yes...that cd from what 1998?) on my iPod. But now I don't feel so bad.

I agree with you... Wait, I already did that.

If I could just once in my life see Maiden live, I'd die a happy man. And maybe Dream Theater too.

Old songs like "Without you" , "Crazy on you" , "Total Eclipse of the heart". I prefer these old song far more than what we call music today, although there are some exceptions.
Also, song like "Dragostea din tei" or "Grace kelly". I like the beat!

Oh and Video Game musics or Classic.

What are we supposed to do
after all that we've been through
when everything that felt so right is wrong
Now that the loooove is goone

...yeah. But mostly I'm really proud of my music taste. I'll shove Steve Hackett or Enter Shikari down people's throats any day.

I just saw Dream Theater a few weeks ago. 1st row, front and center (if I could stretch my arm and reach far enough, I could've touched James LaBrie's feet), backstage passes, autographs, the whole spiel. Probably the most amazing concert I've ever been to.

I'm not "Ashamed" of these songs, but I'm sure anyone around me would be both ashamed of me, and themselves for knowing me;

The Weather Girls and Pat Benetar.
Title:

I agree with MT11 over 9000%

Anyway, I was suddenly addicted to "I Kissed a Girl" and "Crazy Loop."

Yup. If you can get past the fact that everything she does is creepy, she's pretty cool. Best collection of vids, great concept albums, crazy lyrics, she's even a really big fan of hip-hop.

Just pick a record and listen to it from start to finish (cept maybe Volta). They're all good.

Would I ever admit to this in real life F**K NO!

I like the songs from "Balão Mágico". A lot. :P

 *ahem*

Balão Mágico (the Magic Balloon) is a childrens show with childrens song for a mian theme. A  REAL ****ing CATCHY CHILDRENS SONG. Seriously.

As for me, I enjoy cartoon themes or movies and games OST, but this for a lot of people seems like bad taste.

Rick rolled?

Well, It's not like I go around and tell people that I listen to video game music. Final fantasy, some other catchy tune. A lot of kirby songs as well .
It's like a taboo, don't tell your in real life classmates that you listen to "beep-beep" music.

But it's good music, like Game and Watch's theme from Brawl, I love how they made a song using his sounds. Nostalgic.

And well, then it's mostly rock. Although I have these other songs like Melodies of life, Sound of the wind, Simple and clean, Sanctuary, One winged angel ect. That are done with a real orchester or such. Some of them sounds really gay when you think about it but I've tied the songs to the games.
So playing one of those songs make me feel the same feelings I felt when playing them, and that makes me forget all the bullshit-math and such.

And I'd say Nightwish isn't something to be ashamed of, they're great.

Well, you're a girl, that's a bit different.

On a related note, the reason I found out I liked that song (candyman, that aqua one) was because I got an Ipod that used to be a girl's. But if you are telling me that you actually BOUGHT it... Well, that's another story. That would make you very very gay. GAY! Like THUPER DUPER GAY! I don't care if you're a girl, you're so girly that you're a girl who likes girls! Which is kind of hot, but you're still GAY! GAAAAY!

...seriously though, pix plz

I like the Offspring.  They're under-rated.

I love the offspring too, but this new album is a bit, with emphasis on "bit", disappointing.

EDIT: You know what I'M not ashamed to listen to? Big D and the Kids Table with My Chemical Romance next on shuffle. Yeah, MCR. But then again, I listen to a lot of differing things that a lot of people would call shameful and others would not. So really, what is shameful music? Well... nvm, forget I asked...

I has the new Offspring album, and I'm happy with it. It's better than Splinter, so I'm not disappointed.

Still can't believe the release date for my area wasn't until today...
Title: Re: Songs you're ashamed to like

It's not like the old stuff, that's for sure. But Y'know? As Much as there ain't gonna be another Metallica's Black Album, another Green Day's Dookie, another Pearl Jam's Ten, there won't be another Offspring's Smash. Half-truism is one of the best Offsprings songs, losing only to All I want, i guess.

EDIT: I'm still hoping that Metallica will come back full-on though...Can't wait till september.

*dies*

I love em, and have the new album, but the B-52's. I just feel disco-y and I hate. It makes me dance.
