i think ur game should have an evil main character.
..and a good enemy.
-
How about you can be good or evol.
-
Puzzles.
And the game shouldn't be really easy; it should at least be kinda difficult.
-
Make it a zombie-whacking game like Zombies Ate My Neighbors!

Yes, very important you have these. And make sure it isn't chock-full of cliches.

Zombie whacking!

Not to much talking.
and a ton bosses.
-
Not too many bosses.
And a ton of talking. ;)

Good characters. Sometimes, when I play an rpg (And always when I play a different genre) I don't feel for the characters, and when the end comes, I don't even care.
However, in some rpg's, I find I'm engulfed by the characters, entranced by their personalities, I become the characters.
And when the finale comes, a tear is jerked to my eye.

Interesting story. Good characters. Not too much battles nor talking.
-
Well, you could have lots of talking, but not all in a row.
If what is said is interesting itself, and is said in short cutscenes that aren't too close together, it could work.
And mikagami, if there isn't alot of talking, and not alot of battles, what's left?
-
Hmm... Err... Haven't been thinking about that... ^.^;;
-
What is left? Minigames!
-
NO!!! ZOMBIE WHACKING!!
-
RPGLORD!!! Shut Up about the stupid ZOMBIE-WHACKING!
*Bonks RPGLORD on the head, then makes him wear a bikini* :D
-
"Living impared"
Thank you very much.
-
Hmm...Different Weapons? Deep Characters. 1 not deep character. :P
:guns: Guns maybe?
:viking: Different armor!
What else...ah yes. Storyline and an extra (EX: new language, new kind of magic, new type of weapon, etc.)

What I look for is side quests. I do some when the game gets hard and I can't beat it. I get extra monye and then buy new stuff and then try to beat the boss agian. Side quests, very usefull. I also look for good plot and characters. I love it when i'm thinking one way and then the game turns around to the oposite I thought it would have been. But I mean don't make it so that it gose all wierd and no one undertands.
This is what I would look for:
Bob gose and tries to kill arch nemisis. And then he finds out his best friend is the bad guy.
That's what I mean.
