Title: Charas Band
Post by: Linkizcool on August 05, 2008, 03:48:32 AM
Hello Charas,

I PM'd some of the more prominent musicians on Charas about a year ago about a collaborative music project I was thinking about. I Thought about making a Charas Band, where one member could write a backing track, then send it to another member who could add solos, then onto the singer, bass player, keyboards, french horn, contrabass Eb clarinetist, etc, etc, etc, until we have a good song. Then we publish it on Charas as an album.

I abandoned the idea for a year because I had no efficient way of sending tracks back and forth, however, an ad on Facebook led me to this site http://www.tunerooms.com (http://www.tunerooms.com). On this site you can work online in groups to collaborate and make music in the exact method I described above, except the site has an online mixer, which makes everything 100000% easier. The mixer allows you to download individual tracks other members already put on, so you can jam to them using a free program, like Audacity, and then using Audacity you save your track, and upload it.

Anyways, in conclusion, other than the members I already PM'd, how many of you would be interested in this?

I'm so lazy about it. I just like my name being there for now. I'm waiting for more people to do stuff before I start the slightly complicated process of aligning a MIDI converted with soundfonts into the song. But yes, link, Soundgasm looks like the direction we're moving. Also, good to see ya!

Indeed. We're still messing with the idea, but we're not getting brilliant results at the moment. Maybe it'll pick up.

Then go for a singing style. That's the best way to compensate for a lack of genuine skill. Not all of us can be like Freddy Mercury.

Wow Soundgasm was real? I went through that thread and 95% of the posts were spam, so I thought the whole thing was a joke :P

And Meis, my sig is a classic. It should be the charas banner. And good to see ya too coaster!

Anyways if anyone actually wants to get started, sign up for tunerooms and find me there. I just bombed my paycheck to buy a cheap-yet-decent condenser mike and mixer, so I'm all set.

Well, it started as a joke, then people started trying to do things, then it went to spam, then it was broken into the spam version and the real version, then unmod died, then people got lazy, then...

Point is, there's more than one truth to it.

Would this happen to have anything to do with 'Charas: The Musical'?
