It's funny, one genre that most people seem to NOT like for some reason is techno. I personally, LOVE techno. Hardstyle rocks my balls. :Plight:
Do any of you guys like, better yet, listen to, techno? Or am I alone on this.
-
I don't know if you've noticed, but techno is becoming more and more acceptable. Its odd.
Anyways, you know I do.
-
More and more acceptable? Why was it unacceptable?
I'm not a music mojo, so I don't know.
But I do know I enjoy techno.
-W££rd
-
I LOVE techno! I've loved techno since I started playing Finial Fantasy.
But you just can't find a good place to download.
-
i like music. i like some techno. i really dont have any respect for the ravey stuff. Anything that caters to chemical drug use i lose all respect for.
-
Techno has a lot of variations, but it strangely all sounds the same.
I'm a big fan of the techno Dimrain47 makes on newgrounds. I also like Darude and the tetris theme song.
-
I listen to enough.
-
While we're talking techno, does anyone have any idea WHAT the **** to classify this stuff as?

The only person I've heard that does anything like it is this guy, and he only does stuff for games. If you need more examples, just look up Hideki Naganuma.
-
Does justice count as techno.
How about MSTRKRFT
Or anything chiptune
if so, then yes.
but really I listen to anything that sounds good.
-
I listen to enough.
Dude, you listed the tetris theme song as a favorite track. Have you ever even heard any song of darude's other than sandstorm?
Anyway.
Hardstyle - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-PoE7D2O84&feature=related
Tectonic - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VOLzp9ecFoo&feature=related
Happy Hardcore - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSaWbj53pms
Jumpstyle - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4ZrZATUX8Y
trance - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4xyY77sH1M
If you can't find a difference in the style of any of those, then the problem does not lie in the music, sir.
And ZKX, that would be J-pop
-
That's what it says on wikipedia, but the only reason I can see as it being j-pop is that there isn't a better category. In no way is that j-pop. I just want stuff like that by other artists.
-
Yeah. If Justice, or like, Ratatat dosent count, then nope. Im out.
-
I do. I'm a little bit of a closet fan (which is odd, since everyone I know is down with it), which means that I keep my collection quite small. I love almost anything I hear in the genre, though.
-
Sadly enough I <3 it
-
Techno's awesome, but for some reason I've barely explored it. I love electronica and stuff, particularly when bands like Enter Shikari get their hands on it.
-
I can find things to enjoy in all genres of music! techno is my favorite, but i also enjoy classic rock, ragtime, heavy metal, pop, and country. oh, but i don't like rap. except a few songs (mostly by usher XD)
-
Usher isn't very rap...
-

http://isohunt.com/torrents/?ihq=techno
i like techno but im in to jungle techno or drum and bass tehno
as you get a mixed fell to it i lkie and thing with a good mix
-
Eh... I'm sorry, but I hate the gajillion genres out there for basically the same thing. I don't feel that just because you use a different style of drums or its faster than normal that your songs should have a different genre. techno/electronica/jump/hardstyle/etc is all the same thing to me.
Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing it, I just find it silly when people get specific and picky about what genre something is categorized in. Techno/Electronica is pretty neat actually, I love experimenting with this, though MIDI doesn't offer much to work with.
-
All music does that Dren. Emo, "new wave" punk, scream, grindcore. They're all the same ****, but bear enough distinctive changes to warrant a new grouping.
-
eh, yeah, I know, it still bugs me. Maybe not all the genres, but some of them. Like Pop Punk. What the ****? Something about a band listing their genre as Punk/Pop Punk screams futility.
-
Uhh, no, I like music though, ever tried it?
Seriously, I hate when computers and calculators and clocks start complaining about something I can't understand...that's what techno is, right?
EDIT: What's this talent of mine to end threads man?
-
Exactly. Techno is just like every other genre of music, albeit more reliant on electric equipment. To say that techno requires less effort or knowledge is ridiculous. Here's one example, Infected Mushroom, a psych trance duo, both of whom played piano since they were toddlers. Techno still requires a thorough of music theory, which many actual musicians, say, guitarists, don't have. Some do, of course, but others don't. Either way, dismissing one genre of techno such as trance because you don't like speedcore is the equivalent of dismissing classic rock because you don't like heavy metal.
But wait, you say, metal and classic rock aren't at all alike! Techno is all the same. Wrong. What are the differences that constitute metal being metal and not rock? The same types of things to separate trance from speedcore. Rhythm, bpm, sound types, etc. So seriously, stop dismissing all of techno just because you don't like one genre.

Everyone here gets too worked up about sounds. All the time I see "Try listening to real music like this".
Music is an opinion. Techno is enjoyable to me, but it might sound gay to others. The only personal flaw I find in it is that a lot of it sounds the same. BEFORE YOU **** YOUR PANTS AND POST "but mies not al tehcno is teh same ure jus ignorant" it is a personal opinion. I listen to plenty of it, but most of it doesn't have lyrics, and what of it that does often has the singer's voice so distorted that it doesn't give out the right feel. That lack of focusing on vocals might lead me to pinpoint more on other instruments, which in turn will allow me to notice more similar beats in some songs. Some others might view techno as talentless because a great deal of it can be done by one person, on a computer, and/or without any instrumental skills. Still others might view is as amazing works of art because its instruments arn't limited in the same way that traditional band instruments are, thus increasing the freedom that can be exibited in the music.
And lastly, I find nothing wrong with having the Tertis theme be one of my favorite tracks. It is classic and it brings back oldschool memories.
-
Hideki whateverhisnameis (The Jet Grind Radio guy) is the only thing close to techno that I enjoy. The rest of it sounds like noise to me.
-
Never techno, used to listen to industrial synth though. Funker Vogt was the kings.
-
I like all types of musci...except country
-
I like all types of musci...except country
Johnny Cash = Awesome.
-
Johnny Cash = Awesome.
I don't count all of his songs country
-
Why the hell not? Johnny Cash is country, simple as that. It's like saying Merle Haggard or Willie Nelson aren't country, it doesn't work.
-
It matter what they're singing about...Honestly sometimes I think people forget like is viewed by a matter of poinion
-
I don't care if you like him, but saying he isn't country is retarded.
-
*sigh* we'll back to the
future topic...I like alot of anime music. and Daft punk is still there from time to time...but just don't overdose...and
JSRF(happy ZKX) has some good songs on it too
-
Johnny Cash kinda sounds like he is talking his songs more than he is singing them.
-
Johnny Cash kinda sounds like he is talking his songs more than he is singing them.
Does that make him a rapper?
-
A very slow one.
-
Does that make him a rapper?
Only if he talks about how much money he makes and how many girls he's having sex with.
Nah, joking...
To remain On-Topic, I like Techno, but I'm very... picky.
Sometime, though, I'm not sure if a certain song is actually classified as Techno...
-
Does that make him a rapper?
If it does he's probably the best rapper.
-
Johny Cash pays child support. He CAN'T be a rapper.
-
Johnny Cash FTW.
-
I pick concerts over raves.
-
Back to techno, has anyone ever been to a rave here?
I'm guessing probably no, since this is like, you know, charas, but still.
Rave = social, so no.
I've never heard any real Techno, but I enjoy techno remixes. :/
-
I pick concerts over raves.
-
shinotebasiiackh, you seem to be really into techno. Ever try your hand at making some yourself?
-
I've been to a rave. 2.
I dont trust drinks there.
EVER.
I dont even trust bringing in my own drinks there. When Im not looking, BAM. I take a sip and suddenly
KEEP ON TRUCKIN.
-
No idea.
My homie just says "wanna go to a rave?"
"sure"
-
shinotebasiiackh, you seem to be really into techno. Ever try your hand at making some yourself?
A friend of mine used to brew a few tracks of his own. They were pretty ****ing awesome, but I never got a copy of them. I wonder if he still has them floating around?
-
Awesome :)
When you finish, let me know either on here or msn (klrholt@comcast.net). I'd like to hear.
