I've seen some requests about this lately and so I've made my own. It only requires one event. Go to common events and make a parellel process event. No switch unless you want one. Nowenter this
MAJOR EDIT:::I HAD TO ADD SOME STUFF AND MOVE SOME STUFF OR ELSE IF YOU HOLD IT DOWN FOR TOO LONG HE"LL KEEP RUNNING FAST.
SO JUST LOOK AT THE PICTURE INSTEAD AND ENTER IT INTO COMMON EVENTS

OK sorry if the pictuers too big charas, if you need me to I'll resize it. I think a picture is better than typing incase of typing errors so just use pic from now, and shoudl I resize it?

Here's the problem i have with running systems. Why should i have to hold a button to run at my full speed? Unless a system like this brings something beneficial to gameplay, just make the character always run. Anyway, alright tut i guess.

To impress people.
Nah, but really. I can think that there might be points in a game where tight maneuvering might be key. One qualm with the script above, though. I use a near carbon copy of it; figured out one myself, and yours and mine are just about the same.
I've got a problem though; when I try and use it, the shift key, for some reason, seems to have press detection that flickers on and off constantly, which means that my character can tend to "stutter-run" a lot, going quickly from running to walking and back, despite me holding down the shift key constantly.
