Title: Some of my Arts
Post by: Cerebus on August 14, 2008, 10:54:57 PM
Some of my Arts.

Mostly never showed any of my work, except for the few contests I participated and such.
For an unknown reason, I felt like sharing some today. So here it goes.

------------------------------------------------------------
Sorry if the paper drawings are blurry, but I don't have a scanner. I have to use my WebCam to get them on my computer...
------------------------------------------------------------

These are characters I made quite some time ago. They don't even have any name or whatever. I should name them, though...

This is Belzahir, king of the [no name yet] bees.

This one's just a little character who represents "War and Hate" that I made after my friend made a "Peace and Love" one. Kind of Undead version, though.

------------------------------------------------------------
The rest is computer made.
------------------------------------------------------------

This is a weird character I made I don't really remember why. He's called Stalker-311.

This is Fette Katze ( Fat Cat ).

RedFoxes logo.

My Dancing NES Controller. It was on my sig when Archem2 had the Dancing DS. Just wanted to re-show it.

My angry Emotikat I submitted for the Charas Smiley Contest, which gemini won. Just wanted to re-show it.

This one is the first Sprite I did for RM2K3. I used the RTP Ninja as a base and a charset that came with Don Miguel's RM2K pack thing for model.

------------------------------------------------------------
That's all I could find for now.

Dancing NES = Win.

I should put it back in my sig... for memories.
Also, I blame the fact that I'm quite tired... I was sure I posted this in Creative Arts. I'd like if any Mod could move it.
Don't want to delete and re-post it, because it would lower Uberpwn_w00t's post count by a huge 1!

Thanks. I'm still unsure how I could post in the wrong place... anyway.

I'll give you some critisism while I'm here: My favourite thing is the stalker. The paper drawings are okay and it looks like you're developing a style which is good, but you have to be careful with perspective; In the drawing with the guy lying down and the guy with his foot on him, the guy lying down should have a bigger head than the guy with his foot on him due to it being closer to the viewer, unless one guy's smaller than the other. You have a similar problem with the legs on one of your drawings; You're drawn the back one longer than the front one which makes it look like he's toppling over at an angle.

Eh, MT that perspective is fine in that proximity. If anything, it should be smaller as it's below the focal point which seems to be the standing guy. If his head were bigger, the perspective would look extreme and stylized.

On which one? The darker guy fighting? I think it actually appear worse on the WebCam picture than when you watch it on the sheet directly, but you'd be still right, the back one's smaller.
Keeping both arms/legs/etc. the same size is what I need to improve the most. That and keeping character's size when I re-draw them... and maybe perspective too.

Thanks for the comments.

I like your computer art a lot better than your drawings. what programs do you use?

MS Paint. I'd need something better, though, but I can't buy PaintShopPro or anything, and the only free version I got were like 30 days trial.

GIMP, sir.

Ah, thanks. Now I'll just need to familiarize with the program. I might try this soon. Like, tomorrow.

It's pretty easy to familiarize with.

I like em. That might be just because they remind me of Redwall, one of my favorite book series.

Redwall, one of my favorite book series.
eff yeah! I stopped reading them a few years back though >.> I had read all the ones at our public library.

anyway, in the picture where the two mice (or mouse and rat) are fighting, the white one's arms look incredibly relaxed, as if he's simply holding the sword there while the dark one is exerting all his strength. I do understand that the hand drawns are some of your early work, though. The computer drawn is a lot better

Oh? People other than me liked that book series? Good to hear it!

I would have liked Redwall a lot more, had I not been forced to read it.

I like that serie, but I've only read 3 books yet. I'm a bit surprised too that other people like it, because they're supposed to be books for children, apparently. But I don't care, I still liked them.

The white one's actually defending there. He's holding the sword still while the dark one is swinging his sword. His sword is supposed to be an heavier two-hand sword (maybe a bit short though), while the dark ones are lightier one-handed sword. Maybe I made him too much relaxed, though.
And although they may look like so, they're not mice or anything. They're just... some kind of race that doesn't exist.

So apparently, according to 3 of the comments, my computer drawn are better. I guess I should start messing with GIMP soon. I need to make a newer and better version of Stalker-311...

I've read almost all of them. I even have one autographed by Brian Jacques.

That makes me happy.
