Title: Branching from "Maor shooting games"
Post by: zuhane on August 29, 2008, 11:13:28 AM
I just read that topics and saw someone posted something abotu WADs. Anyway, I've just looked at it and I'm still a little sceptical. Are they the files from a game disk or something? I have a heap of PS1 games that I can't play or that have cool sound effects in. Is there some way I can open them up on a PC?

Let's say, you have Doom. You need the PC game, and probably a program that can start up Doom with Wads, which are custom levels and sometimes edits on the graphics, or even modified enemies and stuff with special features.

So it's unlikely that you'll be able to use them with a PS1 game. I've only heard of Wads for Doom, Heretic and Hexen, although I wouldn't find it strange that another old game would also have them.

WADs stands for "Where's All the Data"(s).

I am pretty sure they ONLY apply to the games and modified version of the games that id made. Doom, Doom 2, Hexen and Heretic, like Egnio said.

any games ripped from a PS1 disc would probably be in .iso form.
