Title: Splinter-Now Correctly Placed!
Post by: fruckert on September 01, 2008, 06:59:48 AM
My old intro kind of sucked so I wrote a new one.

And although I do trust you guys not to be total dicks and steal my idea's, I do feel like putting the fact that these are all copyrighted to me, and if you use them without my explicit permission and my involvement in the project, you will be prosecuted
There were two orbs, one of which stood for Light, and within it Paradise stood. The other one stood for Dark, and Purgatory was contained within it. Due to some event, which I have not fully developed yet, the two orbs shattered (if anyone has any ideas on how this happened, WITHOUT involving some god being, I'll gladly give you credit for it.) From the shards, Angels and Demons were created. The shards that did not condense into beings gathered to form Splinters, which were aligned to whatever polar extreme they were made most of. The Polar Splinters corrupted the angels and demons with thoughts of Order and Chaos, respectively, and drew them into war. The Neutral Splinters, who were pure in there thoughts, created a Universe out of themselves. Within this universe they created 13 objects, each of which stood for a certain aspect of their creation. I'll list them later, seeing as my explanations for them are quite unique, and is therefor quite lengthy. Anyways, these objects became known as "spirits". The spirits could end the war, because they held the key to creation. The Splinters created a Myriad of other spirits, to confuse the Angels and Demons. Due to loss of train of thought, I'm going to leave it there for now, seeing as how time is also limited. Also, sorry for my grammar. I was writing this in time to my thoughts.

No story yet, I actually don't have it written down yet.
When I do post it, it will have all the major plot twists and the like edited out.

Almost everything in the combat is affected by the background music. During choruses and the like, damage increase, and enemies get more frantic in their fighting. During slow parts, enemies get more lethargic. Think reverse Fable II, without your weapons actually adding anything to the music (BTW I actually thought this system up about 3 years ago, so I did not steal from it. Not that anyone will believe me, but still...it's true...) If possible, I'll also allow people to import their songs from their system. During the character creation screen, it will ask you what your favorite music genre is. I'm planning on every genre having a particularly different feel, such as having Metal being a bit more frenzied, rap more rhythmical, and as of now I haven't thought anything up for country, due to the fact that I think it is almost impossible to fight to country without laughing. Also I'm planning on having multiple combat styles, such as the norms and more, such as the grapple style. The Grapple style is exactly what it sounds like; some of the weapons have extending points, and can be used to grab enemies. I also am starting a draft on gravity changing, although it's not very complete.

The weapons will be formed out of the Shards that make up the environment. I am planning on having complete weapon customization, with having different parts that you can add to different blueprints, as I call them, to both create a different look for the weapon, while also adding to the combat. Anyways, I already have 3 designs done. The Ringsword, The Spiker (Thank You Mousetroop11 for the inspiration for the name, you saved my ***), and one which is getting published for the first time, The Viper Gauntlets. The Ringsword is a sword that has a ring for it's hilt. I originally drew the inspiration from Axel's Chakram in KHII, however, there are some key differences. The Ringsword is going to have a Gyrating hilt, which allows it to be spun, and also can draw into an orb, for which I have yet to find a use for. The spinning will allow for some beautiful looking combos, as well as orienting this blueprint as a speed weapon. The Spiker is a huge (as in FF7 huge) 2 handed blade. It will take particular advantage on the fact that it's made out of shards, with the fact that it's hilts will slide up and down it's back. Also worth noting is the fact that it's original name was a Hallord, a portmanteau of Halberd and Sword, which the original design was based off of. More on this later, as I have seemed to have a huge brain loss. The Viper Gauntlets are going to be gauntlets (duh) which have little bladed arms that lash out from the sides. I don't have most of the details built on this one, as it's the newest, only being a few weeks old. And, just a few days ago, I started making drafts for the Bladed Rose, which is The Raven's personal weapon, as well as one of the main melee weapons. It's a staff with four extending scythe arms, that are completely flush with the scythe when they are not in use. It's a bit hard to describe, so once I find my homebrew card, I'll paint one up in Colors and show it off. I will accept weapon idea's, as long as they make sense to me and I think they are cool.

Well, might as well post all my "Aspects of Creation"
There's going to be the five pagan elements, Earth Air Fire Water Ęther (I used the word Ęther, because having a Spirit Spirit is just retarded.)
Earth is going to stand for communication, seeing as how Air is going to stand for something else
Fire is going to be Emotion
Water is going to be Knowledge
Air is going to mean free will
And Ęther is going to mean Life

I'm also going to have a lot of dualities
Theres going to be Creation/Destruction
Life/Death (I know that I already having something stand for life, it's a different representation of life though. This is the actual action of living)
Order/Entropy

And just two things that didn't fit anywhere else
Time
Change
I also have some of the characters for the elements started. Once they are done I'll gladly post them.

I'm pretty sure that you've all ran into the Fiend, on my art thread (if you haven't, it's in art...duh). This little beauty I've recently changed from a demonic Splinter, to an angelic Splinter. The reason why is I've decided to make the demon's more creepy looking. Anyways, the Fiend is an insectoid angelic knight creature. If you look at it's picture (I'll add a concept art section here later), you'll notice strands connecting it's Cleaver to it's arm, and it's torso to it's spine. These are metallic, and create this shrieking sound when they move. This is how they see, cause they have no eyes. Another enemy, that I can't draw, is the Seducer. Picture a grungy, drowned looking female holding a pair of Ringswords in her hand's, as well as having some strapped to her feet. They crawl on all fours, using the points of the blades to stand. The higher level ones will have reverse joints on their legs, and will stand up. I've also made a new one, yesterday. It's called a Bladeling. I'll post a picture of it, cause it's extremely hard to describe. More later, and as always, I'm always accepting submissions, and you will get due credit for your idea, if I like it. Also, just thought I'd post this for fun, God and The Devil are going to be boss like enemies. They are the Supreme Commanders of the Angelic and Demonic Armies.

Here are the Planes of the Spirits, written in order.
Ęther-Not even drafted
Air-New Victoria, I'll post later in it's own post
Water-Not even drafted (herein known as NED)
Fire-NED
Earth-NED although I want it to be a bunch of floating islands (I smell a cliche)

Life-NED
Death-Bone Eden-To get it's own post later, because it's the most done so far
Creation-NED
Destruction-NED
Order-NED-But it is going to be very crystalline-almost like Jyggallag-albeit significantly more interesting
Chaos-NED

Time-NED
Change-NED

This is the only thing in which I will not accept outside drafts, purely because people can be extremely cliched. No offense, and the just noticed hypocrisy is very unintended.
Super awesome update time!
A bit of info on the Bladed Rose, as well as some omissions in combat (no magic style, although there is going to be a grapple one)

you bumped the thread after 14 hours... not even 1 day. Im sure your thread was on the First page still. Why does it have to be at the top just to get read?

S'all i was saying.

He just meant that you shouldn't bump a thread if it is on the first page... I don't believe he was trying to insult you.

I was insulting myself, cause it's true sometimes

You have a legal US copyright? This really surprises me, you went through all that trouble to gain a legal license for something your making with RPG maker.
Title: Re: Splinter-Now Correctly Placed!

things are copyrighted upon creation in a fixed form
such as this
trust me, i've looked it up
http://www.copyright.gov/circs/circ1.pdf
second page
and i'm not making it on RPG maker, it's a concept that i'm saving until i get in to the game industry
probably going to wait until i'm in a good position, then give it on a draft for new game idea's
Also, I updated today...
And can people please comment on the actual idea's?

So, really all we get to see is your concept art, and theories for what you want your game to be like?
Title: Re: Splinter-Now Correctly Placed!

Right now
I'm too...er...young and inexperienced to actually make the game
Although if I learn how to model correctly, I'll make a prototype in Gamemaker, and see if it's alright
So yeah...basically it's just my ideas...
I'm learning how to model now though, so you might see an idea here soon

Well you could always just do a Tech Demo in RPG Maker, it'll halpe you later with game maker, since you'll be better at coding. The demo could jsut consist of your battle idea, like DB's

I'm alright at coding, I could do my Gamemaker demo alright
Plus I haven't been able to find a "legal" copy of RPG maker, and I'm not in Illinois right now, so I can't use the computer over there
Also, you didn't really understand my combat, but that's my fault cause it is not clear at all. Just for reference, the combat is going to be real time, and it would play kind of like Kingdom Hearts, but with very stylish combat, and customizable combo's.

EDIT: Also, I forgot to post my new (and first really developed) character
The Raven is a splintered personality religious serial killer, and the Spirit of Death.
In the game he is currently the Most Wanted Serial Killer of all time, with around 85 reported and documented kills. Conversations with him in-game would put the actual number of kills to well over 100. All of his kills have been people who he has deemed "sinners". As his name suggests, he leaves the Calling Card of the feather of a Raven with the bodies. He also sews his victims eyes, mouths, and ears shut, pre-mortem, so that in Purgatory they "see no evil, speak no evil, and hear no evil." He believes that bye playing the part of the Reaper, God will help the souls through Purgatory and into Heaven. He also believes he'll be God's right hand man in heaven, due to the great help he has done for him. He creates new persona's to play with constantly, and disposes of those he no longer needs.
Now for appearance...He is a tall man, in his late 20's-early 30's, with dark hair. His eyes are blue, and one of them has aridmic sectoral heterochromia (it has a black upper half, and can not be distinguished from the pupil). He wears no shirt, pants made out of burlap sacks, and a fur coat, which is extremely bloody, dirty, and also has dozens of raven feathers tied to it. He wears some kind of skull over his face at all times, and if you try to take it off he'll headbutt you with the front teeth, which will often blind people. The skull he wears when you meet him the first time is bovine.
The Raven commands the Plane of Death, which is called The Bone Eden. As it sounds, the buildings and the like are made out of bone. The sky is eternally red, even during the night, which will have black stars. It resides in a desert bowl, with the ground stained red, some parts darker than others, as if with blood. All of the residents call him the "Holy Maggot". His palace is gigantic, and will be visible in all parts of the Eden. The highest room, his throne-room, is a four eyed skull, with the Duality Symbol of Death (will be posted later, haven't made it yet :P) on the forehead.
Now for his weapon...It's called the Bladed Rose...I'll post a picture/description in the weapons section later.
I didn't mean the DBS if that is what you thought. I meant DragonBlaze's CBS Demo. You could do yours real time, and ABS is pretty much what you want.
"he leaves the Calling Card of the feather of a Raven"

That has too many words as well, for grammar purposes it should be he leaves the feather of a Raven as the calling card. Ofcourse that is just me. You have a few more tiny grammatical errors in your writing, but hey otherwise when you make this a game it sounds good. I'd play it.

I'm not quite sure what you're saying with the battle system

And right now, it's just a draft. I've already made a lot of revisions to his basic character, as well as fixing the grammar mistakes. I'll post the finished copy once I'm completely done.

EDIT:Also I'm deciding to update some stuff right now, so yeah...look

Most older members know of it. DragonBlaze was making a custom battle system (CBS) that anyone could change to fit their own needs. Kinda like the RM2k3's DBS. His battle system was also a demo of what was in his game. That is what I meant for you. To jsut make a game soley on how you envision your battle system looking like.

Plus I haven't been able to find a "legal" copy of RPG maker.

RPG Maker 95/2000/2003... can't get it legally in english.

RPG Maker XP/VX you can buy.  $60 i think for both.  (Just search google and go to enterbrain's site)

Update-Here are a bunch of things I've been working on lately
One of the interesting things that I'm planning is a Weapons Creation system. Seeing as the weapons are officially Splinters, bound to your character, you are able to screw around with them, and make them you're own. Basically what I'm planning is having Blueprints, kind of like in ProStreet, but without the cars/bad game. Let's take a loot at a Ringsword Blueprint. It's unmodified. Take the two-handled/extending aspect out of the Spiker, and suddenly you have a new weapon. Each of the weapons has a bunch of properties attached to them. The ringsword has it's hilt, spins, and has no tang. Viper Gauntlets have their extending blades. You'll be able to take each of these properties and tack them onto new weapons. Imagine a sword that when you stab something with it, 4 arms whip out of the sides, furthering the damage to the enemy. I just started figuring out how this'll work last night, so it's very unfinished. I'll update this at a later time.

This is the main characters sister, and the Spirit of Air. She is currently the world's greatest prodigy. She has invented a way to stop global warming, the energy crisis, and world hunger all in one fell swoop. She is 18, of fairly average height, slim weight, and has long curly brown hair, and very green eyes. She is also an arms dealer to the worlds leading terrorists. She believes that without chaos, order cannot exist. So, she fuels the fire to let the world put it out. She has a great fascination with the Victorian Age, as well as the 50's. Her weapon is still under construction, and shall be posted later. The Plane of Air, as she rules it, is called New Victoria. This area is still under construction as well. It is in a steampunk feel, however.

Really bad drawing, be gentle. It'll be fixed later.

The scene starts out looking at a blue sky, when suddenly the main character falls at high speeds, head down, in front of the camera. The camera then cuts to a frontwards view of the character, who has their eyes closed, and is still upside down. After a few seconds of this, the camera cuts to a close up of the face. The eyes open slowly. The camera then cuts to a first person perspective. The character looks up, and sees the ground, which is a grassy plain, with a menhir (look it up) encircling the portion directly below the character. The character then looks down, towards their feet, and it appears as if the ground is rotating around them. That's very hard to explain, so I'll make a diagram later to illustrate it better. The camera then switches to a view on the ground, that is looking up at the character at an angle, as they lighten down upon the ground on their feet. After this, the controls are handed to the character and they learn how to move.
More to come later
