The Geodessia Chronicles

In the year 2012, the world relapsed into an Ice age. The earth passed judgment on mankind, and they survived by securing 4 million of the worlds smartest people to survive the deep freeze. Shortly after creating a base on their new Icy planet, man set its sights on the moon and mars, and developed ways to successfully colonize them. In the year 2241, Mankind had rebuilt its population to 10 million when they are discovered by an alien probe and shortly after are initiated into the Union. A group of hundreds of planets and alien races fighting to win control of the galaxy.

But our story doesn't start on earth. The Dessica system is a strategic outpost on the boarder of Union space. The N.S.A have a foothold on a planet in that system; Geodessia, and a ground war has broken out  on the planet. Geodessia, the avatar and ruler of the planet of the same name, escapes, ordered to lays low in space while his forces fight on his home planet, but he is quickly captured.

Screenshots of the first scene: Geodessia fleeing.

The DBS has been replaced with a CBS. The action round (Where both ships fire on eachother) is every 15 seconds, in those 15 seconds you target an enemy ship's system then Devote energy to a ship system.
There are 4 ship Systems:
Weapons: Allocating energy will increase Damage and Hit %
Shields: Allocating energy will decrease enemies damage
Evasive: Allocating energy will lower enemies Hit %
Engines: Allocating will make your ship able to outrun enemy, fleeing from battle.

You get one energy point per turn to allocate to whichever system you wish, Evasive and shields depends on the ship you have,
Weapons depends on the weapons equipped and engines depends on the engineer you've hire (Who takes a portion of money earned)

When not in a space battle, your probably going to be space travelling. The Preliminary navigation screen:

You will travel to co-ordinates by typing them in. You can go to other co-ordinates out in space... but your probably not going to find anything. There is going to be space traffic. You will usually run into 4-5 ships travelling from planet to planet, which is where space piarting comes in. If you direct weapons to fire on the enemies engines and blow them out, you can loot any vessel with cargo aboard. Or you can simply let the ships go by. Unless the ship wants to pirate you, then you must defend yourself or run.

All ships will be viewable, side profile, in Battle:

I'm still looking for ideas for ship screens, seeing as how it is going to be a major part of the game.

Also, I will be looking for voice actors as well to act out story missions, but a lot of the game is going o be open ended, so there is going to be a limited storyline in the next installment.

Nice sprites. I don't see that style used in many games.

It was because there were no games out like this, that I made it too :) Guess I was tired of the Europeans always showing us up in the art department :)
I'll have to check out Warped now.. They look kinda similar, though mines maybe a little bit more serious :P
I don't have a moogle co-pilot :P

Nice sprites. I don't see that style used in many games.

Rinnest's Sprites held the most potential when It came to size and the characters ability to show emotion.
Also, I liked them because one you learn the trick of how they were made, you can edit/make your own clothing/poses for them. Though the hair is a bit more difficult, the Zip file from the download page contains 4 pictures of just heads, so you can copy the head you want on the body you need to match it.

The lack of pupils is kinda killing the 'face sprites' for me at the moment. Is there a reason they have no pupils or did you just decide to leave them out?

Other than that, it's a nice looking game from what you've posted, and sounds pretty promising. Keep it up!

Actually the pupils in the character sets will be turned white. :P
I think I'll redo the opening post to go over the story. I should have mentioned that they are not human...

I would first like to welcome you to Charas this bunch of crazy peepz.

Second,
That's some creepy artwork dude.  Game looks and sounds pretty cool though if you get all that stuff in it.   I'll be sure to check this out if it launches.

Also, if you're bored and need a break check out Crystal Crazy sometime.

Keep up the good work.

If they're supposed to be white then that's fine with me!

There's a lot of potential in this game to have a large cast of characters and to only unlock certain ones through certain story paths (say, if you'd accepted a smuggling run deal then a professional smuggler is drafted to you by the criminal boss to help you, who then decides to join your cause for money or ideals or whatever). That was, everyone would have different characters to choose from by the end of the game and your party would feel much more unique.

That sounds like a good Idea. The main character is Geodessia, but does include the ability to Hire an Engineer, maybe if you get a bigger ship to take more cargo you can hire more crew to do different things...

If would take a lot of extra characters, (I probably couldn't do face sets for them all)
which wouldn't mean a lot of extra work seeing as how there is no Battle screen for character to character...
Thanks for the Idea :)
