Ruins Of Azgayle - Action/RPG - Rpg Maker XP

The project is under heavy thought and I have a list of 12 classes that basically take a lot of the old RoA classes and combined them together.  Crystal Crazy has given
me a lot of insight and experience and I want to go to a bigger and better game in XP.   RoA will be turned into an Action/RPG game much like the diablo series and will feature
12 classes that all have a lot of depth and customization.  The game sprites will be realistic and mature along with a dark look to the whole project.  I am currently in a frantic search for some spriters that would be interested in designing some class sprites for the game.  Or, if they know of a good place to get some mature character models for the game.   I also want to get some good chip-sets that are mature and make the game look like a gothic fantasy game in a world that is in madness and ruin.   Basically, what I wanted to do with RoA in the first place.

Here is the 12 classes so far.    if you have any ideas or concerns with any of them please respond to this and tell me what you would like to see.

THE 12 CLASSES

Crusader :   The Crusader is a protector that goes out of his way to stop all evil and corruption.
Wielding a powerful sword and shield, the Crusader smites his foes with the help of
angelic beings. Crusaders can use powerful holy magics to aid their allies or harm
                     their enemies.

SKILL TABLES:   Holy Sword, Holy Shield, Blessings, Smites

Battlemaster:   The Battlemaster is a warrior dedicated to brute force and strong melee weapons.
Destroying their enemies with slashing, crushing, and piercing weapons is what
they live for.  Battlemasters wear heavy platemail armors as well as have skill
in shields if they want to protect themselves from harm.

SKILL TABLES:   Slashing Mastery, Crushing Mastery, Piercing Mastery, Shield Mastery

Deathguard:   The Deathguard is a vile and corrupted being that wants to bring nothing but malice and
hatred to everything she comes in contact with.  Deathguards use scythe weapons with
razor sharp blades or spikes attached to them. They can also call upon the dark lords
to bring terrible harm, suffering, and even undead upon their victims.

SKILL TABLES:    Scythe Mastery, Dark Blessings, Death Magic, Undead Summoning

Ranger:           The Ranger is a survivor and protector of the wilderness that has become one with
nature.  Rangers can cast powerful spells to call storms or aid their allies as well
as tame wild beasts and even become a master of archery.  It's very rare to find a
                         Ranger anywhere near a city.

SKILL TABLES:    Archery, Storm Magic, Forest Magic, Animal Friendship

Desperado:     The Desperado is very deadly class that normally roams around in the wastes .
They pack dual pistols along with high-explosive devices to devastate their enemies
by either trapping them or blowing them to bits from afar.  Desperados are also very
skilled traders and will get awesome deals on the market.

SKILL TABLES:    Dual Pistols, Trapping, Explosives, Bartering

Assassin:        The assassin is a stealthy class that lives and breathes for the thrill of killing their enemies
by catching them off guard.  Assassins prefere to use dual daggers coated in deadly
poisons so they make sure to kill the enemy if their initial attack does not do the trick.
Assassins also use a form of shadow magic to move through the wind like a ghost.

SKILL TABLES:     Dual Daggers, Poisoned Blades, Shadow Magic, Evasion

Priest:              The priest is a robed man or woman that uses the power of the gods to guide their path.
Priests cast divine spells and also have the power to turn themselves into a powerful
angelic being which wields a mighty two handed sword.  They are also skilled with the
mace weapon which can be empowered by the gods of war.

SKILL TABLES:     War Mace, Retribution Magic, Healing Magic, Angelic Powers

Monk:                The monk is a trained martial arts fighter that also uses his inner focus which gives him
mind over body healing power.  He is a master of staves and unarmed combat as well
as has the power to take enemies down with strong wind attacks.  Monks can heal
themselves or aliies while they fight in combat .

SKILL TABLES:    Staff Mastery, Unarmed Combat, Focus Magic, Wind Magic

Dark Seer:        The Dark Seer is a dreadful class that uses dark magics and vampirism to steal
the essence of their enemies to empower themselves or their allies.  Dark Seers use evil
dolls and twisted animations they create from the bodies of the fallen to do their bidding.
This class is feared amongst many people and some say they are the caretakers of hell.

SKILL TABLES:    Twisted Animations, Death Dolls, Dark Curses, Vampiric Magic

Wizard:              The Wizard is known for having very little health and armor, but they make up for it with
spells that can destroy anything in their path.  They are the masters of energy, fire, ice and
powerful golem creations.  Wizards are also very skilled with wands and magic staves.

SKILL TABLES:     Energy Magic, Fire Magic, Ice Magic, Golem Creations

Mentalist:          The Mentalist is a master of mind control and manipulator of thoughts and time.  They create
illusions and manifestations through magical power that aid them in confusing their enemies.
Mentalists can directly attack the mind which will cripple their foe so badly they won't be able
to move an inch for several seconds. The Mentalist also uses crystals to focus power into.

SKILL TABLES:    Mind Control, Illusion Magic, Manifestations, Crystal Focus

Sorcerer:           The Sorcerer is the twisted and corrupted version of the wizard class. They focus on the powers
of plague, dark oceanic and shadowfire magics.  They have the power to turn skulls of their
enemies into powerful magical focus objects as well as conjure powerful giant vermin to aid them
in their dark schemes.  Sorcerers use staves and wands just as good as their counter part.

SKILL TABLES:    Plague Magic, Abyssal Magic, Shadowfire Magic, Vermin Summoning

To be honest, I prefer the idea of an Action-RPG Ruins of Azgayle to the original concept.  I'm looking forward to this.  If you give this up, bad things will happen. <3

I'm glad you like my work lol.

If I can find the right sprites and tile sets I will make sure to make the best game I can.   Cutting classes to 12 and not worrying to much about parties and things will make the game overall easier but still a lot of fun with XP graphics and that awesome RoA feel you love.  You can tell even with Crystal Crazy that I am dieing to make an XP version of my ultimate creation.

If you want to use a different style other than RTP for charsets, heres something I found while searching rmxp.org ...

Dude, those are pretty rocken!  I wonder if I would be good enough to design some custom armor sets and class models with those.
Thanks much for the post dude.  This kind of stuff is a step in the right direction.

This is the first thing I started working on and I need feedback on what people think about the frame so far.

I big bar floating in nothingness

Thanks for the comments everybody.   I'll be getting rid of the frame but still have a bottom bar that will be used for gameplay.   I'm going over a couple skin ideas as well so I'll post some pics when I get them done.

Yeah, frames tend to annoy me too.

Frames can be good, just not those that are kinda "painting frame"-ish. I like it more with detail. Kinda like Samus visor in the 3D metroid games, there were frames but they weren't in the way, the just melted into the game.

Looks good though Drak.
