Title: Bang.

A damn shame.
I gotta admit they were getting pretty weak, but all the Toms were still on point.  Atleast 75% of the shows were pretty on point.  Toonami didnt just appeal to a certain audience.  It created its own.
Toonami was my childhood and to this day(well...yesterday) I still watched it.  I can't recall a period in my life where I didn't think Tom was the ****ing man.  Cant help but feel like a really awesome friend died.  A friend that OPENED COUNTLESS DOORS TO THE WHAT-I-THINK-IS-AWESOME GLAND IN MY MIND.  Seriously I don't know who I'd be right now without toonami.
I wouldn't be drawing.
I wouldn't be making music.
Definitely wouldn't be reading comics.
WOULDN'T BE SUCH A BEAST AT A STREET FIGHTER.
I just wouldn't have that genuine appreciation that I have now for a well animated, well written cartoon.
(No Im not just listing random **** off here.  Toonami + Tom + Moltar genuinely inspired me to do this ****.)

Before Toonami, animation just meant Disney to me.  Hell, toonami even raised my appreciation for disney movies.  SHOW ME A MOVIE BETTER ANIMATED THAN A DISNEY FLICK AND I'LL SHOW YOU A LIAR.

Thanks Toonami.  Thanks Tom.  Thanks Moltar.  It definitely wasn't a failed expiriment.

I knew where this topic was going straight from the title. I stopped watching Toonami right when it got kicked to Saturday blocks. Oh well, 11 years isn't bad for a show, let alone a programming block. I'm listening to Deep Space Bass right now just from sheer tribute haha.

Also, Studio Ghibli has some intense animated stuffs. Sullivan Bluth had really high quality for an independent studio.

You'll kill me for saying this, but I used to turn off the TV whenever Toonami came on...

Well, sorry that it's gone.

Well... there goes another part of my childhood...

So, are they no longer going to show anime at all anymore, on CN?

I blame the parents, who spend all of their time, going after the things which will supposedly corrupt their children's minds. They go after all of these television, and video game, companies which are supposedly too violent, yet they let their kids wander the streets with their "friends", and are involved with drugs and alcohol, yet the parents don't notice/care. Through that logic, violence and strong language is wrong, but drugs, alcohol, and sex are okay for children to be around. Also, most of the parents are to blame for their kid's behavior, and they are to moronic (mironic?) to realize it.

I have no problem with children being in an environment which encourages violence, and cussing, as long as the kid has a sense of what is right, and what's wrong. Parents today don't even try teaching their kids about what is okay, and what is not. They just go after anything that may be offensive. The show South Park depicted this very well in the episode, in which the adults go after the Terrance and Philip show, because of the jokes they use. They just left their kids to fend for themselves, while they go attack the tv company. That is what i believe is going on. There are a lot of young kids near my house, who only see their parents for a couple of hours a day, and many of the parents don't even work.

Okay, I'm done.... continue on with your conversation.

They stopped Toonami because it, working as a 5 hour block, was getting less ratings than 2 episodes of Naruto every night. It has nothing to do with "parent going after bad things." Adult Swim is just getting more ratings, and its going to take over the more serious anime on CN I'm sure.

I stopped watching Toonami a long time ago
Around the time Outlaw Star stopped getting showed

So now anime is only getting showed on Adult Swim

This makes me sad

If censorship keeps going on like this, then soon we'll be in a Fahrenheit 451 world

What a shame

Censorhip probably had a part in it, because some parents are psychotic, and think that people spitting is violence

I dont think the giant loss here is anime.  nor do I think it has anything to do with parents.  I really dont think its a matter of censorship.  You guys are looking at this too deeply.

I think I can live without the anime they show on Toonami, out side of DBZ.  Sometimes they'd have actual awesome anime like that whole Month of Miyazaki or Outlaw Star, but its usually ****.  Zoids and gundams were pretty awesome too.  EVERYTHING else was **** in the anime department there.

Even in AS.  Just shitty anime after shitty anime after shitty anime.  Samurai Champloo was awesome, cowboy bebop was awesome, paranoia agent was awesome.  ANything outside of that was ****.

I guess Im kinda grateful for toonami's death in that respect.  less shitty anime.  I swear some people will watch ANYTHING made in japan.
Now if we can just get them to stop showing naruto....

W/e.  CN has really stepped up their game in the recent years.  Chowder, Flapjack, The new Batman cartoon they have in the works(WHICH LOOKS ****ing AWESOME). Secret saturdays, and that new star wars series.  Now if we could just get Bruce Timm to do a new superhero series.

Bruce Timm : Civil War.

HOOOLLLYYYYY SHIIIIITTTTTT.
If you dont know what civil war is go kill yourself.

Srsly I just rewatched Batman TAS and Batman beyond a few days ago.
****ing awesome.

I dunno, Bruce Timm is the iconic style for DC. Marvel has always had that slightly more realistic, Hannah-Barbara adventure serial style (Johnny Quest, Birdman, etc) to it, and nowadays it seems to merge that with a westernized anime style. I think if I saw Captain America and the Punisher in Bruce Timm style something would be lost.

Civil War needs a cartoon.  A well animated cartoon.  I dont know if I like anything about DC outside of Flash, Batman, and Bruce Timm.

Toonami died for me years ago when Tom started to look gay. Then the shows started to drop in quality. Then this.

Still a damn shame, though.

It makes me think what will inspire the next generation of artists.

Kids need action heroes to go draw, even if we hate the shows :(

Now they have less exposure and kids aren't going to go look up some random shitty anime all on their own :(

I mean honestly, despite how much I ****ing hate naruto and other various shitty animes, how many artists under 20 can honestly say they DIDNT start out drawing Goku blowing Freiza RIGHT THE **** UP and Ash catching a Mewtwo?

Even if the shows sucked, they inspired :(

Thats the real loss here.

AND WHAT THE FUUCKCUCKK MOLTAR WAS THE MOST AWESOME HOST.
JESUS CHRIST WHAT ARE YOU 13 OR SOMETHING?

I wonder if anyone knew the 'bang' thing was a reference to the fact that TOM's voice actor was also Spike Spiegel's in Cowboy Bebop?

I sorta just remembered, to be honest--I had to look it up in Wikipedia.

Dude...that guy did Guilmon in Digimon season 3. GUILMON! The wussiest-sounding Digimon ever!

'Bang', indeed, dude. Bang, indeed.

This is bad news. Well, it had a good run. It was definitely one of my inspirations for drawing/cartooning/animating, etc. It does bring me joy to imagine all the idiot Naruot fans crying themselves to sleep tonight, though.

Now, about this whole Tom thing... I've been out of the loop, because of my lack of cable TV, and my lack of interest in Cartoon Network nowadays... There's one thing I have to say.

THAT WAS TOM?! What happened to the whole... Blue and white, motorcycle helmet-esque, space suit Tom? He used to look bad ***. Look what they did to him.

Anyway. Farewell, Toonami!

Yeah. UNFORTUNATELY... I saw the new movie. It was terrible. It's all a bunch of bullshit marketed towards small children to buy action figures.

I'm looking forward to it. I do not, however, believe that even the TRAILERS look like they should go to theatre, but I think it will be cool on the small screen. I really wish they had kept Tartakovsky on as director and left it in traditional animation.

Trust me, if the show is going to end up anything like the movie (story and dialogue wise)... You'll be physically ILL after one episode. --And, poor Tartakovsky! All his stuff is so awesome. It's like they're taking his work, violently raping it, and selling it.

Fuckingggg
THANK YOU.

Also, theres few cartoons NOT aimed towards smaller kids.  They're kiddy movies.  Cartoons.  You cant expect a huge epic to come out of it.  Even if it is star wars(which Im pretty sure is the ONLY REASON PEOPLE BITCH ABOUT THIS MOVIE.)
Wtf did you think transformers was?  Transformers was just a huge commercial for the toys.

BAAAWWWWWWWW MY FAVORITE SERIES IS BEING ADVERTISED TO KIDS AND SIMPLIFIED FOR THEIR ENTERTAINMENNNTTTT.
If it wasnt star wars you'd all have thought it was awesome.

For a movie, thats **** quality, but for a show its actually pretty ****ing awesome.
And whats wrong with using Tartatovskys design?  Thats like bitching about them using Stan Lees design for spiderman.
I dont mind it not being traditional animation either, but yeah 2d woulda been awesome.
Title: Re: Bang.

No **** we're bitching. Starwars has always been a serious kind of movie.

It would be like taking resident evil, turning it into a cartoon for kids, and expecting a good responce from avid RE fans.

WHO GIVES A **** ABOUT AVID FANS.

Really.  Its a BUSINESS.  BUSINESS'S ARE NOT THERE TO PLEASE THE FEW GEEKS WHO GENUINELY APPRECIATE EVERY SINGLE GRAIN OF SAND IN THE STAR WARS UNIVERSE.  BUSINESSES ARE THERE TO MAKE MONEY.

They wanted to REINVENT THIS SERIES AND GEAR IT TOWARDS THE NEWER GENERATION.  IF YOU STOP LOOKING AT IT IN COMPARISON TO W/E YOU EXPECT FROM THE SERIES, YOU CAN ENJOY IT AS SOMETHING NEW, BECAUSE THATS WHAT IT IS.
SOMETHING NEW AND FRESH FOR KIDS.

NOT FOR FANBOYS.

CRUISE.
MAAHHFUKKIN.
CONTROL.

And you know what, as a reinvention and something new, its pretty cool.

RE is totally different. You cant reinvent a zombie infestation as something child friendly.

Neither did I. But it proves Star Wars hasn't been serious for years.
