how do you make a Side-Scrolling Game? I've always wanted to make a Kirby game and stuff so how?
-
There was a tutorial on RM tutorials, I still have even, but it's comlicated and it's a "In game" tut.
You want it? I might be able to find it.
-
IDC but im never gonna use Game maker, it got me pissed off by trying to make a game...
-
If you couldn't do it on Game Maker, you won't be able to do it on RPG Maker. Lucas is completely right; it's easier on Game Maker, but still pretty hard. That's the burden of game making. You only get what you put in. I would suggest you attempt Game Maker again. Start with a simple engine and build from there. You might need to learn a bit about programming, but that will really help you more in a broader scope. It's just impossible to get away with getting what you want without trying and failing time after time. Welcome to the world of making games my friend. :P

You know, a guy made a Mario Style Gameplay tutorial here not more than a month or two ago. Why don't you look for that?
-
the guy whomade the mario type game tutorial is called the_game_guy he and the even cooler thing he's my brother. My big brother! And case you're wondering, the IP addresses change alot as we move alot...just lettin you know but yea its in his tutorial package.

I did! I don't understand Gamemaker but managed to make a platformer on rm2k3. Then again, it was effing awful!
-
Platform studios is easy to make them..but making custom sprites is kinda hard

Congratulations. Here's a cookie.
Oh, and you do know there are numerous GM platform engine tutorials, ranging from simple to complex, right?
-
but most Game maker games suck anyways, rarel good ones too
-
Just because the games suck doesn't mean the engine is bad.

But i just wanna know how to make a side-scrolling game with RPGMaker2003 TELL ME PLZ >:(

Hey vytong, here's how to make a side scrolling platformer in ten easy steps:
Now I know you'll actually read this post, could you please listen to the people above you??? Even if we had the knowlege off the top of our heads a tutorial of the magnitude you're asking for would be ridiculously long and take hours to write. And even if someone went through all that bother, there's no way you'd be able to follow the instructions, and your resulting game would be poor quality anyway despite years of effort.
Make it in gamemaker or one of the the other more suited makers or don't at all. They're your options.

To reword what lucas said in a nicer way, get more game making experience under you belt before you start coding custom systems. Maybe download Game Maker or Multimedia Fusion and follow some tutorials.
-
To reword what everyone here has said, grow a penis and get the **** out.

how is your statement in this area?

People its not impossible to make a side scroller in rpg maker. Yes, it kind of hard, but its possible. Ive been working on one for quite some time now. Heres the link to the video of my kirby side scrolling platformer.

Clickteam applications are, I believe, easier to use than Game Maker. Hit up Games Factory or something. It's pretty easy to pick up, especially if all you're wanting is a simple platformer game.
