Could you perhaps post a screenshot of the problem?

I know what you're talking about. Maybe see if you have a starting position for the party. If you have one, then you might need to check and see if you didn't delete anything that could've affected the system such as... weapons or items your party is supposed to start with. Maybe you deleted the map or something. If none of that works then maybe an animation or something was messed up. Try some possibilities of what could've been deleted. If I figure it out I'll tell you because I had this problem before.

It could be that you're missing your title graphic or system set. Double check to see if all the files that the game uses are there.
If so, make a new game, test that game, if that game doesn't work, then something is wrong with rpg maker or your computer in which case you need to reinstall rpg maker (a differant version would be the best idea). If the new game does work, copy the rpg_rt.exe file from that project and paste it over the rpg_rt.exe file in your current project. Sometimes this file just gets messed up, in which case you need to make a new one and put that in your current game.

uhm. on the map where you want the character to start in.... right click and chose "set party starting position" or whatever.
