Title: A question for you all
Post by: Dominicy on November 21, 2008, 02:35:25 AM
A question to the good people of Charas - preferrably the ones who use torrents more.  How much do I trust movie-torrents?  Not porn, ofcourse.  Rather, my subscription to ChillerTV has been cancelled (Won't exactly be missed) and, not sure if I ever shared this here, I LOVE horror movies, and am cursed with parents who hate anything older than a few years.  Just my luck that in recent years is when I stopped liking horror movies all that much, eh? :p  Your input shall be loved and cherished for evar.

I've got no problem. But I aways first see the torrent's rating and comments before download it, quite a few times I didn't because people actually warned "This is a fake" / "This one has got viruses" and so on.

Yeah, what Grandy said. Also for file type, I'd go with avi. It's the smallest thing around that doesn't rape your quality bad.

.rmvb is good, the quality is not as good, but the files are WAY smaller, enough to make up for the quality, IMO.

That is probably the best way to go. Also if it has many seeds/leechers it's usually cause it's a good file. But you can never be too sure...

Torrents are the best downloading tool in my opinion. You can easily find many different version of the movies you want, it's fast and highly reliable in my opinion. Listen to the tips above, they're gold in torrent-downloading.

For some good site, well, we're not allowed to post. But I am allowed to give a tip!

'Torrentz dot com'

Ah I see your going to sin some more.

Well I've been living of torrents for the last couple of years and so far no men of law have been knocking on my door. And like Grandy said common sense will make you stay away from viruses.

I can link to a couple of sites on msn later.

Drace, thankfully we'll never know, but you may have saved my computer. :3  *Replaces Pirate Bay bookmark*

Drace, be a dear and remind me to sell myself to you?

Pirate Bay is also a good one, to be honest. But the greatest thing about Torrentz is, is that is collects data from multiple sites.

Use Azureus/Vuze. It does a good job for me catching virus torrents before I start downloading, but still scan before. I've gotten the best results from Azureus, but it's a bitch trying to load (HD network? Who uses that!?)

Also, what Grandy said. Definitely, once you get past the "WTF I don't know what to do, I downloaded a file with an extension I has no idea waht to do plz helps me, I don't use Google" comments. just don't try to download Rammstein torrents, most comments turn into Nazi comments.

Used to use Azureus but I decided to switch to BitTorrent. I like BitTorrent better, it's more simplified and seems to work more user-friendly.
