Title: Attention people. Drak is speaking, k thx. Lulz
Post by: Drakiyth on December 27, 2008, 05:14:05 AM
Sup all, I wanted to get a vote on here since most of you are fans of my work and some of you are pretty young.   Should I create a version of Aftermath that is teen?  This would remove sex of any kind, most blood would be toned down, lots of cussing would be replaced with something different etc.  I have had a couple people personal message me saying they think the game is to hardcore and violent.  I personally can agree with them IF they were a minor.   I want everybody to enjoy my work, and limiting the younger crowd which most of you are is not very fair.

So, what do you all think?

If Aftermath remains an adult project I will indeed make a teen medieval fantasy game for the younger/family type people.

Also, would people like another contest that could include their main character avatar into the Aftermath project?   Basically, the winner of the contest could have their character like "purple mage" the little mage guy with the purple hat in the game somewhere.  If you don't know already, Aftermath is 20% done.  That is light years of work done compared to the old RoA project which literally had no mapping done.

Thanks for your time and support.

As i ahve said on GamingW, I think some of those blood anims are over the top regardless of age group. Seems way too unrealistic and over the top.

If you must make a teen version, all you have to take out is the sex. (Just in case, y'know... Parents... Bedroom... You know.)

Otherwise, don't worry about it. We don't give a ****.

sex scenes in games are corny and try-hard.
sex scenes in amateur games is exponentially worse. You can tastefully imply the sex.

However, dont change the blood. There was a retarded amount of blood in some of the most soul-eating and or generally sweet films and animes Ive ever seen.

Inside
Kill bill
Akira
first three that come to mind.

Houses with an inch of coagulated blood caked to floors.
Fountains of blood spewing with the pressure of a firehose from a headless body
City streets cracking open to reveal oceans of blood rising up to consume all in its wake

tell me those last three lines dont give you a gore boner.
gore boners are better then cartoon sex boners. You can be proud of a gore boner.

No screw the teens. And besides this is the internet. If the teens had a choice between a teen version and a gore version I'm pretty sure they would choice the gore one.

Also I have nothing against contests so go for it.

Don't change anything. But again, that is said in a dutch perspective. Here we don't care if a show contains sex and violence, it's how we learn our children about the world. We're a lot less ew-ew-ew about all that stuff. If you want it for the American youth, change it all. Change sex to huggles, blood to chocolate and call violence "no-no". But if you want to deliver the story to it's best, do it your original way. Don't succumb to teen and adult ratings.

Also, how  horrid could it be with 8-bits?
