Title: Thank you Musha (aka Alice in Wonderland movie thread kinda yeah)
Post by: fruckert on January 21, 2009, 06:18:09 AM
For pointing me in the direction of that Oingo Boingo video
Which in turn led me to Danny Elfman
Which led me to this discovery

A TIM BURTON ALICE IN WONDERLAND (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1014759/)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alice_in_Wonderland_(2010_film)
Theres more info on it

And heres a picture of Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter
http://www.screeninglog.com/journal/2008/11/18/first-image-of-johnny-depp-as-the-mad-hatter.html

I am so happy right now, it's awesome

While I can't say I'm excited, I can say I'm quite intrigued.

Keep me posted.

Why is it that Tim Burton always casts Johnny Depp in his movies?!

More importantly, when did goths start thinking that Alice in Wonderland was exclusively their territory?
Title: Re: Thank you Musha

When did anyone think it was their territory?

Oh, I heard about this movie. And I'm a Tim Burton fan, so I'm not gonna miss it even if world ends before! ò__ó

Didn't see Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter before, though. Awesome. Very Tim Burton-ish, wich means scary, but also beautiful.

This movie will be the best of 2010.

I am not nearly as optimistic.
Alice in Wonderland is so essentially British, and this stands gravely dangerously on the brink of missing the point. But hey at least everything will be goth.

I'm mainly interested in this because it actually goes by the book
Theres characters in it that aren't in the older Disney ones
Plus, I love Burton movies, so it's a must that I see this

I rember finding out about this a couple of weeks ago when I was looking up Joney Depps bio on Wikipedia and read that Joney and Tim have been good freinds for quite a while, they met in coledge or somthing. I think the movie will be pretty good, but i've loved almost every movie Tim Burton has made.

HEY LOOK, PAPARAZZI PICS! (http://infdaily.fusebox.com/2008/09/our-first-look-at-tim-burtons-alice-in-wonderland.html)

I'm liking the costumes so far, although I'd appreciate a bit more learnings about what's going on...

Holy kick.
Trailer (http://www.apple.com/trailers/disney/aliceinwonderland/).

Johnny Depp looks freaky (the costume also looks a little weird), and it's a bit more actiony then I thought it'd be.

I don't remember how long I've known about this, but I've known about it for a long time.

Personally, I'm more excited about 9.

Ditto.

In fact, I'm avoiding this. I'm avoiding anything with Johnny Depp. Surely, he's at the point in his starhood where he believes everything he does is epic and that he shouldn't try. :/

Oh sweet! Johnny Depp's being cast as Chucky in the next Child's Play?
It will be **** like everything else Tim Burton's done.
He is also Being cast as ALL OF THE DWARVES in "The Hobbit"
Also Directed by tim burton.

This film looks watchable and all, but honestly, Im so sick of Tim Burton and his Over Used, Marketed to Tweens and Fat middle aged ladies with bad rose tattoos in worse places, Recycled Visual Pseudo Gothic Visual Style. The only thing he has done since Edward Scizzorhands, And N.B.C. that was Unique from his other material In ANY WAY AT ALL was BIg Fish (Which was quite good). Everything else he poops out is just the same thing over and over. His formula is as such.

CAST JOHNNY DEPP
MAKE HIM LOOK LIKE A MOLESTER
TAKE EVERY VERTICAL STRUCTURE IN THE FILM AND GIVE THE EDGES RANDOM 5 DEGREE ANGLULAR CHANGES
MARKET IT TO GOTHY KIDS AND FAT LADIES WHO THINK WITCHCRAFT IS A VALID THEOLOGY
WAIT A YEAR AND DO IT AGAIN.

Seriously, for being "such a directorial artist" he sure likes to do the same thing over and over.
At least with Big Fish he did something a bit different, with some literary devices worked into the plot.

Seriously, I was tired of his crap in the Nineties, and it dosent seem to have changed much since then.

PROFIT $$$

Fix'D.

Yeah same here. Only thing from Tim that i liked was Sizzlehands and nbc.
Depp can go lay down  in a hole. I'd like to see him in a real movie. You know with robots and supernatural speed.

I lolled.

I didnt even want to give him the pleasure of a ??? or a PROFIT.
We Know there is Profit, and there is not enough Mystery in his weak sauce formula to merrit a "???" IMO

I'm going to have to agree with Gemini and HTML here. I couldn't really bring myself to like anything he's done since Scizzorhands and Nightmare Before Christmas. Haven't seen Big Fish, though.

Like I said, I'm more excited about 9.

Dont get me wrong here.
I really like Johnny Depp.
I mean, anybody who can pull off a bang on Hunter S Thompson is cool with me.
I liked Big Fish, because for a breif minute I saw what Burton could do when he was not desperatly trying to out-goth himself. But Burton is a giant Jew Douchebag who takes his "artistic stylings" waaay too seriously.

I will agree with the formula, but I still like it.
I am also excited about 9.
I am also excited about the movie version of American McGee's Alice. That will be so awesome. Seriously.

If it ever happens....
Which seems more unlikey with each passing year.  The <a href="http://www.americanmcgee.com/wordpress/2009/02/20/alice-sequel/comment-page-2/">video game sequel</a> will most definitley hit first.

OMG, I will not see this. I had nightmares for my whole childhood because of the Cheshire cat in the Disney version.... Burton's will kill me....
