It's 2009... I've been here for 5 ****ing years. **** you guys!
...But seriously, I <3 you guys.
...But seriously, what the hell... Five years is a long time. I can't believe I haven't finished any kind of game within that time. We've all changed so much since we first joined here and yeah yeah, there's probably a topic like this somewhere. But five years is a long time and a celebratory number. For me, atleast. I can remember I lived in a different place five years ago, had completely different friends, and was very quiet, too myself and respectful. All that has changed. Now I've got a job as well. XP Ooooohhhhh, life.
What have you all been up to lately? What kinds of things were you up to when you joined x years ago.
I'm really not too sure what this is all about. Just a personal revelation I have once a month I thought I'd share with you all and see where it goes.
-
Ha, yeah, you know, five years ago I was like "I'll stay in this place for at least one year, by then I bet everyone else will have left though."
-
Wait, five years?
That's, like, longer than I was in high school!
-
Been here too for five years. Haven't worked on RPGs since two months after I came here.
-
Whoo... I'm getting old too. I know my life was totally different when I joined. So was charas...
-
The good ol' times and members, the trolls. Shame they all left.
-
Damn... 5 years for me too. Time flies.
-
Been here for 2 years and a few months. Back there when I joined, I was a total loser. I had no real life friends, on the internet I behaved like a noob, I couldn't do anything useful. Now, I got a bunch of friends, rl and internet. I also improved quite a lot on drawing, spriting and the like.
If it wasn't for charas, I wouldn't be able to speak english at all. Some of you still remember how shitty my english was when I joined. And since I never took classes or anything, everything I know, its because of you guys.
Charas helped me a lot. It was the first forum I joined and I hope its the last one I leave.
That...was beautiful.
When I joined back in 2007, I was only in the 4th Grade. Now I'm in the 6th, I've met new people and expanded my hopes
and shitty dreams.
Blarg Precalc.
Now I finally have someone that I can actually call a true friend, even though we've only known each other for such
a short time. Life, it changes in the most unexpected ways.
Her name is Charas.
-
My ideals haven't changed since I joined here. I'm still Mr. Anti-popularity, and if anything from Charas, that ideal has only strengthened.
I can easily say I formed a real sense of humor here, possibly a mix of all of the comedy styles you guys have. You guys brought up some games that I never would have tried, but now can't stop playing (curse you JeT and Prpl for IAWW/TWEWY!) I've learned what is and isn't accepted from the homies of the Internetgroundplaceplaza of Funk, and now I shutter every time I read an old post of mine.
Thanks for keeping me a virgin since March 2005. :D
...or at least giving me an excuse to be one.... <.<
-
Here's to five years.
-
Here's to five more years.
-
Here's to our old pal Xen, if he's still alive.
-
Here's to our old pal Xen, if he's still alive.
He just dissappeared from the face of the planet. One day he was posting, the next, BAM.
-
I just realised that my seniority pwns all of you.
-
That would be true if you hadn't disappeared for over one year.
You are on the same boat as us, buddy.
-
Four years and a month. Wow. Life really does change.
I know I'm not an overly active poster or anything, but I log in every day ;)
Here's to whatever the next fiver years bring! I hope we're all still here for it.
-
Wow...a couple O' Months already
Sweet
-
I was talking to a friend about the longevity of internet communities just the other day. Then I realised that this, 2009, would be my 6th year here. Pretty crazy, eh?
I've seen lots and lots of people come and go, and more importantly stay, which leads to the crew we have now. What a fun ride.
And there's no end in sight, either.
-

I think I might have set a record for "most POSTS in short amount of time" too
Seriously

It's true. Despite Archem's best efforts, you sir are like some kind of unrelenting plague.

Well I think we've all been absent at some point or another for a substantial amount of time.
-
I think I've been here nearly 5 hours. I already feel at home.

That so? I need to start spamming some more!
Nah, he's sure to do like I did and lose his steam after another year. I used to average about 15 posts a day back in the day.
-
Even though I haven't been here 24 hours yet:
24 posts per day.
Mwah.
-

Impossible, only jerks disappear for months and years at a time! Who would be so inconsiderate as to leave without saying a word and return as if they never left. Assholes, that's who.
-

That's kinda strange, seeing as you only have 23 posts
Time Paradox, anyone?

I've only been here for a year, but i've changed alot. I used to be an intlectual, quiet and very softspoken. Now i'm more inquisitive and adventurous and alot more serious since my dad died. I also became a better story writer and and have an improved sense of humor. Not to mention if it wren't for you guys I never would have made David up, so thanks and I hope I last on the site for five years.
-
Too bad this isn't UI.
I mean, uh, I bet I'm going to love it here.
-
Newbies spamming up the thread of oldies = tits or gtfo.
-
I've only been here for three years. Can't say I learned much, but one thing is for sure.
Me, whoever he is, is cool.
I've made a few friends IRL; not many Charas folk, though. They're trustworthy people. Heck, I'm considered a brother by someone--he's the first time someone actually came to me for advice, and according to him, I've been a big help.
I'm still kinda idealistic, but I'm also getting a little jaded, so I'm a romantic snarker, if nothing else. And I'm STILL playing GBA and PS2 games!
It's been fun being with you guys, at any rate. Now, if only I actually DID something around here...
-
GBA and PS2 are modern. I'm still on SNES.
-
PS2 is win. GBA is also win. Indeed, you are win.

EDIT: I JUST got a gameboy micro a little while ago. I was kind of embarrassed (for no particular reason) so I told the clerk I was getting it for my nephew. FFI and Metroid Fusion win hard.
-
Tremble before my March 14, 2003 registration date.
-
I'm still playing my trusty NES, N64, PSX, PS2, Gamecube and 360.

*Trembles*
You're probably the oldest consistent member. You've always been around...

Your only the second person i've met who likes FF1 (Or even knows it still exists). Most pepole have only ever played the newer Final Fantasies and have no clue what a true chalange is. I tell try playing the orginal Final Fantasy for NES and you'll end up sreaming at the TV every time you try to hit those weak Golbins and "miss" three times.
-
I own that game
*smiles proudly*
I love it

Yeah. I've definitely found myself yelling at the game. So many ****ing encounters. You do one thing wrong and got to go half way back across the world and there's just so many ****ing encounters. And no matter how strong you are, you can't run as quickly as you'd like. I like the game, but it's definitely agitating.
-
I loved FF1 too. The GBA remake with those extra dungeons and stuff was particularly good. I think you've been talking to the wrong people...

I liked it, but I didn't find the game to be difficult, frustrating, etc. We must be on completely different wave-lengths.
-
haha, yeah, I was expecting a bunch of people to disagree with you fish on that one. This IS an rpg forum.

I has no house D:
Zeek? Man I haven't seen you since you told us you were homless. From what you said I guess the situations not improved. :( I prayed for you to be safe and hoped you could find a new home. Whait, if you don't have a house, how are you posting?
-
I has no house D:
Lucky bastard.

I wish I had a no house. Wait, what even is a no house anyway? Sounds yummy.

Anyway, you could just use the flashcart for homebrew apps. *stifles laughter* (dont do this, the hombrew scene contains like... web browsers and Tetris clones)

Catch up.
