Guys, think. Before we went to SMF, there were no bots at all. Once we did, BAM! Hundreds of them. Think about it. SMF is causing bots come to charas. Discuss.
EDIT: Kay you guys got it wrong, what I meant it. SMF has shitty protection against bots and stuff.

No. Just no.
-
Probable
Just not the explanation I'd give
'Specially seeing as I wasn't here for the move
-
SMF? Did I miss something last year when I wasn't around?
-
Apparently
I didn't know we were on generic board software
Although this

Should've kinda pointed me towards it

Even though I am new, why would you say that a host is responsible for bot problems? Yes, moving to new hosts means a change in security programming, but that doesn't mean the host is destined to make its costumers miserable.
-
SMF probably just has weaker protection than the previous whatever. To suggest that they're actually sending bots on purpose is a little ridiculous.
-
What I think is that SMF is easier for bot's to target, seeing as it's more widely used, therefore easier to recognize
So they'd get more coverage
So more stupid people would click the links

I BLAME OSMOSE!
-
OSMOOOOOOOOOOSE!
-
Conspiracy theories?
-
Oh right, sorry. It sounded that way from the wording. Perhaps "causing" rather than "making" would be a better word to use?
-
Every time I see this thread name, I keep thinking of The Birds.
-
Yeah, its not about bot protection at all. It just that we were the inly ones on the internet to use PUB.
-
Every time I see this thread name, I keep thinking of The Birds.
Every time I step outside, I keep thinking of The Birds.
Like, thousands of birds outside, shitting on everything.
-
That's why I don't go outside

I say we should implement a topic creation restriction. Ye gotta have 5 posts or some other arbitrary and small number, before you can create a topic. That way we would be able to stop not only the botters, but the people who register on the forum just to request some recolor or something.
-
That wouldn't be good for those who want to make an introduction as their first post.
-
oh, well, there goes my plan... darn logical thinking.
-
Is there some way to restrict topic starting in any forum except T&W? Because that might help out.
Oh, but then the bots would start putting threads in T&W, wouldn't they? Hmm...
-
It's exactly what I thought before I saw that some of the last bots threads were already in Test and Welcome.
