Oh well, boredom makes me do things. But I kinda like doing this. Here are the first 2:

I ll try to post them on charas as I post them on drunkduck, from now on.

BTW, if you havent played the first pokémon games, you wont get the jokes.

Being that there's a rainbow in the title, a joke about homosexuality is only a stone's throw away.

Make that joke before someone else does! Make it good!

I think the transparency gives it a nice appearance. It can't hurt to start throwing black outlines on it, though.

...Or mebe it can. What do I know, anyways?

No. I came up with the joke. Lucas was stumped on how to end the page and I gave him the joke to consider. After that, we ironed out how to move that into the next page.

Well, actually, Scott Ramsoomair did the same in some of his VGCats comics.

To be honest, I don't really get the last one... is it actually what others say? Does he have sexual intents toward Squirtle?

Title: Re: Pokémon RAINBOW

Bulbasaur was meant to be the "smart" choice, as it had type advantage over the first two gyms. I always liked charmander best just because fire types were so rare.

Title: Re: Pokémon RAINBOW
Post by: Cerebus on March 02, 2009, 01:46:18 AM
Maybe Red Fox has one too!

When I was younger, I thought the best choice of Pokémon was the one on the cartridge, so Charmander for Red and Squirtle for Blue. Then I've learn it had nothing to do with it...
I usually chose Charmander because unlike the other two, he has scratch instead of tackle, which is stronger. Simply.

Well thats true well actually he had an advantage for at least the first 5 or so gyms cause well Bulbasaur plus thunder= a big fat no.
Sure the fourth gym was a grass wait was it a grass gym? anyway he was still pretty useful there. He also had an advantage at the poision gym cause well Bulba is part poison right? I feel as though I should relive all the pokemons games again, Oh noes its missing no.! Quickly someone throw a Master ball at it!

Personally, I think Blastoise looked cooler than Charizard. Mewtwo as well. And Scyther. Kabutops too.

So true. Dragonite had an obvious birth defect. And I care not for what the game says, Charizard is a ****ing dragon Pokémon.
Title: Re: Pokémon RAINBOW
Post by: Prpl_Mage on March 03, 2009, 07:19:42 AM
But charizard and gyrados never reached the godlike status of dragon type.
Because dragon types have resistance against so many other types so a Charizard being dragon would more or less nullify it's weaknesses except dragon and ice.

I gotta say that Salamence from G3 is a hella ugly dragon though.
Title: Re: Pokémon RAINBOW
Post by: Red Giant on March 03, 2009, 09:48:19 AM
"Dragon" was such a bull-**** type anyway. Like, you don't have "dog" or "fish" type, so why dragon? Plus, right, if I remember correctly, the two most distinctive features of the classical dragon is that it can fly and breathe fire, only the two-type system has it so you can never have a dragon type that is also flying and fire type. F*ck dragon type and their hard-to-evolve asses.

Then again, I also used to make fleets of flying Kangaskhans...

I've played many a Pokemon. I just....can't find joke.

Is it about the ambiguity of the statement "It appeared to be caught"? Does it mean it's caught in the transition between material and Pokeball'd and therefore not captured? Does it mean it only appears that way but -- whoops -- isn't? Does it mean it was actually captured? If so, where is my damn Pikachu?

It's making fun of how excited you get when you get three shakes on a hard to catch Pokémon, only to have the damned thing shoot back out at the last moment. That red, Pikachu-shaped blob is the Pikachu escaping.

Also, it's funny in the same way Unfunny Comics is.
Title: Re: Pokémon RAINBOW
Post by: Archem on April 24, 2009, 04:23:25 PM
It's not fake. I meant that your comic ran across the art that is unfunny. You might not be able to emulate it again, but you did a good job the first time.

Consider this: The greatest comic of all time has weak spots in its line-up. A truly boring and uninteresting comic. Now let's look at another, lesser comic. It happens to come across that winning combination for quality that allows it to overtake the greatest comic ever, even if only for one strip. The greatest is still the greatest, but that lesser comic has a moment in the limelight.

The blacked-out thing (or "whited-out," as some later versions used...for racial diversity I guess) always baffled me, too. He's totally hijacking your strip, Lucas.

On topic, why is the fire starter always way, way better than the other two? For some reason, it always mows down the competition from fairly early in the game up to the Elite Four. Especially Blaziken. That thing is a beast.

I'd say Infernape is the worst of the three starters in the latest game. Empoleon mixes water and steel. It's awesome.  Infernape barely learns any good attacks(with the new Attack/special attack thing they introduced in D/P) unlike Blaziken.

Yeah, that's why I always go for fire. Just because there's never any fire anywhere.

Did I already say this on this thread?

EDIT: Also, as a person of chinese descent, my mother used to tell me stories about the Sun Wukong, the mythological figure upon which Infernape is based. So there's a connection there.

You could make comics on paper and scan it.
No excuses. You started a comic, you have to continue. It's the rule.

Also, talking to yourself isn't that bad.

...unless you start a long conversation and start to argument with yourself or something like that. Now that would look kinda weird.

No, no one thought of that.

It is also fail because venus (penis) associates with the Roman goddess of love/sex, Venus.

FUN FACT: Venus flytraps are so named because of the resemblance of their leaves to a human vulva. Must be on the same lines as the mastodon, nipple-tooth. Horny taxidermists...

I love Japanese. Kana is the closest thing you can get nowadays to IPA, (Kanji is a whole different story) and the grammar is very obvious and logical due to particles.
(Though many people don't use all of them and if you do, you'll sound like you're Shakespeare.)

Well, the chance that a squirtle have water gun at that point is quite low as well right? I mean: tackle > bubble > withdraw > water gun.
So let's say it's a plot hole of some sort.
And it's cooler to see a squirtle use water gun to attack instead of tackle all the time.

This comic is nuts...good idea btw.

I have gen four games now and I have to say all the starters suck in that game. I always can't wait to beat the elite four so I can go back and destroy them with my gen three teams.

All my teams consist of Pokemon from gen three and before or those in gen four that evolve from earlier games.
I also Effort value them properly. Talk about pure veteran status.

It is believed that the trainer blacks out because most Pokemon are hostile and they will attack people if they do not have "any usable Pokemon" yet your opponents don't blackout at all hmm...

I found blaziken to be too overpowered after gen three, since you can now use him effectively teaching him all physical attacks.

If you get a Diglett/Dugtrio following you, will it be able to enter houses? Because that would kinda destroy floors. And if you get to a second floor, will people from the first be able to see its full body?

Maybe? I'd feel so honoured.

Yeah. Geodude and Onix.

Both of them failed hard when I rolled in with my God-Charmander.

Seriously, my started back from Red was unstoppable. He was pretty much immune to everything (barring the instant-death attacks, of course).

Yes, I'm just saying it looks wierd with Brock because he doesn't have a shirt on.

I believe Lucas asked me originally whether or not using the armless thing would work back in first two or three pages.

Nintendo really need some credit for the very much improved gym elader/elite four AI and skill set. It's actually quite challenging.
Hate that fighting gym.

From what I can tell, when you get into a fight, you jump onto these flying disks that are dressed up to look like various types of ground, and then you fight.

Mid-air.

While on flying disks.

It's much more dangerous, but that makes the fights so much better.

And on a less severe level, how does the fighting gym afford all those piles of tires that get destroyed every time someone tries to fight the leader? Tires aren't cheap!

Perhaps drug smuggling. Or Pokemon smuggling.

Or Pokemon smuggling on drugs.

Or smuggling Pokemon that are on drugs.

Or smuggling Pokemon that are on drugs, while on drugs.

But everything else is the same. The names, the concept, etc.
Except for the main character and the É.

Every comic but the last (as I recall) have the É. And you even told me you thought you had put it when I said you forgot the É on your last comic.

Just admit you forgot it and are too lazy to add it!
And make a new comic too. With the É!
