Title: I think it's about time Charas had a mascot.

Was going to make a contest for that, but first I was wondering if anyone else agrees.

Maybe just a typical RPG character class. Something like a warrior, thief or whatever. Although making one with the Generator would be more representative of Charas, a hand-drawn or paint/photoshop/whatever-made would probably look better. In other word, a not-too-much-pixelated one.

About the mascot, I'd actually like to see people trying to find or make one. There's no real need for it to be the most awesomest thing ever created on earth that should be considered the 8th Wonder of the World, just a simple RPG related character would be perfect.

Sarah. C. there is a really well-drawn complex sprite. It took me a lot longer to do her's than it did with Sai. Dunno if you made that yourself Cerebus, but if you did, you have my praise.

Ahhh, kind of a shame to spend time on those sprites and then cover them up with black bars. But then again, doing this at all is probably a sign of insanity, so maybe it's for the best.

Well, I used various RTP BattleCharSet parts for Sarah C. and edited it a bit (Mainly recolors and the hair). So I guess it's only considered an edit, unfortunately...
But I still take your praise, though. :P

So? Everyone does that. Every battle character set I ever created could be considered an edit of another one. I took the closest existing set (RTP or one of my other creations) and edited around to match the sprite of what I was making. What you did with Sarah C. is no different than what I did with all my other ones, and if people were willing to praise my efforts, I'm willing to praise yours.

The only true "edits" are the hair (it's pretty much the only thing that is different than the RTP) and the left arm (which wasn't really necessary, but wanted to have a bit more edit than the hair).
The rest is just recolours since I didn't know what else to edit.

It's also quite the same with Murof, although this one has more "edits".

Usually, when people do edit RTPs, they change pretty much everything (or so I think) like the cloths, hair, etc. instead of simply taking the parts off of other RTPs.

However, if your point still stand, I'm glad you actually like my work. :P

Still trying to improve my hand-drawing, but since I'm pretty lazy, I don't draw very often... however, today I felt like drawing something and I made an attempt at hand-drawing Sarah C. I'd like to know what you think about it?

Two things, though.
1 - I don't have a scanner, so I had to take a picture with my webcam. And because it's quite a cheap webcam, the image may be appear a little worse than on the paper.
2 - I used the BattleCharset I made as a model, except for one thing (I decided she would be wearing a blue tank top instead of the bra thing). She looks like she has no hair on her right side (other than the... *something* tail(Don't even know how that kind of hairstyle is called)). It's not bad on the BattleCharset, but it's noticeable on the drawing.

First one is the hand-drawing. The second one is a cheap colour edit because I suck at this. It's filled with white spots! But anyway, it gives a clue of how good/bad she may looks with good colouring.

It's far from perfect, but I think it's not bad so far.
The only thing is I haven't shaded it. I've never been good at shading... I also only use MS Paint. And GIMP, but so far I've only used it to get rid of the sheet background colour thing, since I don't know much about it... but anyway...
Maybe I'll try shading it.

The main problem is that I'm not sure where to shade.
I mean, like, take the hair as an example. What part of the hair do I need to shade? Same for pants, face, arms, etc.

For shading, remember that light comes from overhead and the head is basically a sphere. So you get some "bright lines" at the top of the head and darker colors down bottom. Take a look at your own sprite avatar for a pretty good example.
