Title: Our official suggestion thread
Post by: Cosmos on March 10, 2009, 06:20:25 PM
Well? Start suggestion ideas to help make Charas more awesome. This will be something staff can look over and hopefully make the changes you've requested.

The Archive was mentioned and has been added, any more board ideas?

I was thinking of adding a creative writing sub-forum to the creative arts to seperate and keep the place more organized. Maybe even a Creative videos/music sub-forum?

Suggestions? Thoughts/comments?

I suggest... demoting the inactive Mods!
Joking...
But I'm still suggesting not showing their name from the main page. It looks like they're still active.
I'd like to see other member's opinion about it!

And getting rid of the useless boards, as suggested by Lucas. But not by deleting the, just putting them in the archive.

Switching back to the PUB thing, too. The previous server or whatever. We had less or no bots back then.

Make some sort of notice on the main page how many people are online in the chat, that would be kind of nice.

Well, bots can be banned no problem. I believe the reason why we changed servers was because the old one was crap and too easy to break yet harder to manage.

In order to do the "members in the chat," I think the chat would have to be made from scratch since irc is it's own program. We'd prolly need more active coders to do something like that. =/

I'm hoping staff will notice, I'll put a few topics there eventually. << promises.

I'm not sure if that can be done. Gimmie a few hours to figure out how to do it. Hopefully we won't have another warxe-aplode. << *coughs*

Yeah, you have to be an admin to do it. We should get an admin in here. Oh wait, I'm an admin! Alright! Which ones should I move? All of the teams? SEER? Offline Battlechar generator?

I believe it can be done by installing any irc client onto the server, setting it to log everyone that enters and leaves, and then having the forum read and display this list, I can only think of two problems. One would be if SMF can actually read from a non-ini file (I haven't played that much with it), and whether new information can be shown on the forum itself. yes, someone would still need to set up a new chat, people will have to re-register their nicks, but at least it can be more easily managed, and much more power to the "staff."

There, I just made something quick to show what I meant concerning the, you guessed it, inactive Mods.
I don't want them to be demoted. I just want them not to be shown on the main page.
An image is worth 1000 words (or whatever)

That's all!

Just wanted to be sure everyone understood what I meant.

I should probably move All of All to archive as well, nobody posts there anymore.

Yes and Forum Gaming.

Oh and Forum Rules as well, it's quite dead right now. I mean, the last reply was like 4 years ago and nobody read this anyway.

I see what you mean, Ed. I'll ask Osmose about it and will see if he can do it.

I suggest some admin figures out why the heck colored names were taken away. Those were AWESOME.

I agree
What's up with colored balls anyways?
Those don't exactly say "authority"

I concur, too.

Remember, I had lime green. Thanks again, Zeek.

While we're all whining, I'd like a limit on how small text can be on a post. It's starting to get irritating.

Like this?

Don't know if we can do anything about that though
That seems to be a BBC thing, so maybe not

I suggest removing this avatar auto resize thing. Still limit the actual dimensions, but dont change everything to 45x45 or whatever. THis allows for slightly bigger avvys, and rectangular ones too.

Suggesting merging Gallery and Creative Arts. I honestly see no reason for 2 seperate sections for the same thing.

Wouldn't Gallery and Resources be a better idea?
Title: Re: Our official suggestion thread
Post by: HobomasterXXX on March 18, 2009, 09:14:49 AM
From where i see it, Resources is for sharing Rm resources, and gallery/creative arts is for posting your arty creations.

Yeah...Gallery and Resources is a better idea me thinks...just make it a general RM contribution forum

LOCK THE OFF TOPIC GAME.

It stopped being a game 3 months ago. Now no one counts points for like 20 pages and its just free spam.

I say lock it, start a new one, and get someone else to keep track of the points. I could do it, if you go along with this.

Maybe. If there are a few posters - enough for a general consensus - who agree with JeT's proposal, I'll do that. Silly FG mod.

Axe it. It was always a spam thread, you just had to be a creative spammer.
Title: Re: Our official suggestion thread
Post by: Cerebus on April 19, 2009, 03:43:28 AM
It could've been better if there were a bit more rules. It wasn't that hard to wait until 5 posts were made before replying to a specific post (which was the only rule if you didn't want to lose points). I'm even surprised so many people made so many points.

I mean, you could've just posted "I love cats" or "hgfhsfs" and you'd get points. If at least you had to talk about something, it could've been better.
And now, it worsened even more when Meiscool was banned.

I suggest locking it too, but NOT remaking it.

I concur. Old thread locked. Feel free to remake it, but if you do, on your head be it - you better keep score. :P

I know this isn't really forum related, but could we have a date on the complete resources uploads?
