Hi there!
I would like to request charasets and battlecharas for the main characters in my project. The battlecharas should look just like the charaset, with their weapon. They won't need any other animations than the default ones in 2k3.
If you decide to take on my request, i'd prefer if you'd make them in the order i'll list them below.
Sybel
The main character. She should have green eyes, purple hair and a huge two-handed mechasword(As seen in the picture),(If you want, add the sword underneath her hair on her back for the charaset, otherwise weapons just in battlechara).
The overall appearance should be like this picture:

Vesper
He should have blue eyes and redhair, aswell as a twohanded claymore(as seen in the picture) in his right hand. He uses it as a one-handed weapon(weapons just in battlechara).

Ariethiel
She should have lightblue eyes and brightly blonde hair. Her weapon is a lantern, with a blue crystal inside.
The overall appearance should give the feeling that she is glowing, like in this picture.

Eilonna
She should have red eyes, white hair, black cat-ears, a black tail and as weapons she uses her own black claws.

I was going to take a break from requests, but this sounds kind of intriguing.
Are you dead-set on having the battle charsets the same size as the charsets? Would it greatly piss you off if they were bigger and more dynamic?
Also, if you're okay with big ones, would you want the weapons worked into the battle charset itself or would you like them to be able to wield different weapons?

Well, my idea was to build the battle-backs in rpg-maker itself. But if you prefer to make bigger ones, then do it :D
And for the weapons, the weapons should be worked into the battlecharaset. They aren't gonna wield any other types of weapons.
And if you choose to make the bigger versions, could you make Sybel carry the sword over her shoulders when she's not fighting?

Yep, I can do that. I'll be gone all day, but I can get started on this when I get home this evening. Charsets will be RTP-style (maybe slightly modified), so they'll fit in with other RTP-style NPC's.

In order...walking, walking with weapon, angry "battle stance," shaking head (Because if I learned anything from Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, it's that your hero is going to do a whole lot of head-shaking), and dead/collapsed.
I'll get started on the battle char sometime tomorrow. I think I'm going to have fun with it. You'll like.

Notice how the victory pose looks just like the reference pic? Neat, huh?
Oh, and I never want to mess with that damn sword ever again. It is a huge pain in the *** to animate.

Glad you like it. It just occurred to me that you did ask for Sybel to carry the sword over her shoulder....did you mean when she was just standing in battle and not swinging? I thought you meant for her to carry it on her back in the walking charset. In the battle char, I just did what I felt looked most natural: her holding it with two hands kind of low to the ground.
I may wait a little to start the next one, but I wanted to ask about Vesper and his tattered beige cape. Do you want that to stay in the charset and battle charset? On one hand, it could be difficult to animate. On the other hand, it could look pretty awesome too. I could reduce the size of it so it doesn't drag on the floor, and I think that would be an improvement.

For your first question, yes, i originally wanted her to hold the sword over her shoulder when she was standing, but i must admit that this looks much better.
I also noticed i didn't comment about her victory pose, and that was just awesome. :bend:
About Vesper, his cape and his spiky shoulderpad is his biggest charasteristics. If it's helpful to you, do reduce the size, but have in mind that it's supposed to go down on his sides, with the hole in the back.
Lastly, as i said before: Take your time, i have all the time in the world. :D

LOOK AT THAT HAIR. Turned out beautiful, damn it. He's got a better mane than Sybel. She gon' be all jealous.
Oh, and when looking over Sybel's charset, I noticed that some of hers had the wrong color in the corner of her eye...it should be a pale gray instead of a pale blue. I corrected it and replaced the file, so if you're an obsessive perfectionist too, you can re-save it. Yes, I know, I'm ridiculous.

I know, someone's already warned me not to get burnt out on requests.
I think I'll force myself to wait a day or more until I start working on the next battle char. Maybe I'll do another weapon set or something.

I noticed one thing about the Vesper charset. Vesper's tattered cloak should have a rip from the bottom to just before the top, instead of just a hole.

That cape actually ended up being rather fun. Also, I changed the color of Vesper's cape in his walking charset...I replaced the link I previously posted. The new color looks more like the reference pic.
Another thing...you accidentally replaced Eilonna's pic with Ariethiel's new one.

I was thinking that she would hold her lantern in front of her, and shoot a blue bolt at the enemy.

No, more of an arcane ball, kinda like the one inside the lantern on the picture, but bigger. About the size of their heads.
And for the Battlechara set, i think her personality is important. She is a calm and caring character, who always smile and keep her friends spirits up. The smile should be gentle, not an open mouth.

I kinda figured she was the "gentle spirit" of the lot. The style I've used so far kind of precludes facial features other than eyes, so a smile may look unnatural, but I can do "gentle."
One more question...As for her "glowing," how do you want that done? An outer glow? A few sparkles? I could probably outline her skin and clothing with a brighter color, but I'll have to play around and see how that looks. Personally, I recommend that as well as some sparkles that appear to be floating down from her lantern. That way there's still that ethereal feel, but you avoid the hokeyness of having the character herself sparkly.

Yeah, that sounds as a good idea. Play around with it, and see what you come up with.

Here's Ariethiel. I can't tell what the heck that thing on her head is from the picture, (winged earmuffs sounded just too stupid), so I made it a kind of head wrap. Note that the battle stance animation is supposed to cycle (The lantern flashes).

This one turned out really good, I think. Notice how her lantern brightens up when she's happy (as in the victory pose), fades when she takes damage, and goes out entirely when she's dead. I thought it would be cool if the lantern was tied to her life force.
Oh, and you may want to toss in an additional bolt animation for the attack pose for good measure. I'm sure there's some viable battle animation sets out there.
Could you upload Eilonna's picture again? You seem to have replaced it with Ariethiel's. Also, what is Eilonna's personality like?

Her personality is special. She has been a slave all her life(beastmen enjoy slave-trading) and is therefore scared and wary almost all the time. When she joins the party, she can for the first time in her life feel happiness.
When fighting, she should thus be looking kinda afraid, especially when attacking ordinary.
When she is doing a spell, it would be neat if she sort of started levitating with her arms out and her head leaning back, eyes closed.
When she is hit by an enmy attack, she should express her pain more than the others.
For a victory animation she should have the same pose as in the picture, kinda saying: "What? We won?"
Lastly, but one of her most important aspects, she is only half the length of an ordinary human, and this should be extra visible in the battleset.

Making her short is easy in the battle charset but kinda tough in the walking charset, but I'll do what I can.

Since Eilonna's weapons are her claws, in lieu of a "carrying weapon" pose, I made an animated pose of her shivering. I thought this may be useful since she's a troubled character due to her past as a slave.
I may take a little break to work on my chipset before starting Eilonna's battle charset, but not too long.

You'll notice there are two attack poses...If you give her two weapons, she will attack once with one claw and again with the other while advancing. It looks rather cool! You don't have to use this, but I just thought I'd give you the option.
One more thing. If for whatever reason you can't complete your game, just let me know so I can put these under Completed Resources so someone else can use them. But I hope I get to see your game some day. ^^
