Cool huh?
I was just walking about minding my own business in the video game store as I saw the cover for a Final fantasy to the Wii.
"Hot snap!" I thought and strode over and squeezed passed those brats looking at the children's' game.
There it was. A cover for Final Fantasy, Crystal chronicles the echoes of time. First I thought to myself:
"Hey... Wasn't the wii game supposed to be called Crystal Bearers and not Echoes of Time?" I went over to find out and soon realised my own mistake.
The game was in fact. A Wii version of a new DS game.
I looked at it with narrowed eyes, deceiving to the very core. I turned around and saw the DS version of the game and picked 'em up.
Same awesome graphics as the previous FFCC game to the DS(Final fantasy the crystal chronicles and the rings of fate) which I played in joy.
And then I read the best small line of text ever seen on the cartridge of a game this year. "Connect to your friends with the help of WiiFii to play together ....blablabla".
Now this is great. I thought to myself and couldn't stop myself from smiling. Although I probably could've picked a better time to do so as a small girl was pulling her sweater up in the dark reaches of my eyes and her mother looked at me with some pretty obvious prejudices probably thinking I was some kind of pervert/paedophile standing at the nintendo part of the store to lure small children into a white van and kidnap them with promises of games and candy and stuff.
Anyway.
The previous DS game did not have the online possibility when it came to the actual game. The only thing you could do online was trading moogles. And moogles can carry stuff for you. So, just a trade thingy.
You could play together with the wireless thing. But really, how often do you collect three of your friends, make them come over to your place with their DS and games so that all the four of you can play together for some hours before they need to leave because of other activities? No, I thought so.
So now they gave us FFCC fans what we wanted. The ability to play with those others sharing the fascination of that beautiful world(10x times better than FFXII).
So now(once I remember to bring my card to the store... sigh) I will be able to track people down and play with them. Great!
The previous game was grand. I hope this one is as well. The old style of the final fantasy games where the game was more important than the graphics(looking at you FFXII) and a nice new dynamic battle system than the GC game.
Apparently the Wii game uses the same graphics as the DS... So I probably prefer to so polygons and pixels on a small screen rathe than my large TV.
Anyone else seen and/or heard anything about this? I didn't know until now.

Oh snaps.

Guess I'm the only one that thought Crystal Chronicles sucked so bad?
-
Yes. Then again, you've been saying a lot of things recently regarding games that we all disagree with...
I think you've just got poor taste! D:

Have you played the games on for DS? I bet not.

I might get this on my R4, although Square are notorious for antipiracy bullshit

Supporting? What? **** you!
-
Supporting? What? **** you!
You are still getting their software, and not the competitors, so they are still getting your support in one way or the other
Never thought about it that way, no have you?
-
Man I loved Crystal Cronicles. Me and my freind would create a couple of caracters and take turns playing the difrent dungeons and helping to delvelop our characters. I realy loved getting letters from home. It was was always neat to see my family's reactions when i sent them home things. What I hated is, in order to play two player you had two have two GBAs and a link cable. :( Other than that the game is still one of my top favorite game on Gamecube.

Ok, well, I was joking, but now that you mention it, no. I never thought of it that way.
Because that's ****ing retarded. If I pirate 100 copies of GTA IV and buy one copy of Saint's Row 2, Saint's Row wins.
If I pirate 1000 copies of CoD4 and buy one copy of Halo 3, Halo wins.
If I pirate 1,000,000 copies of WoW and buy one copy of Final Fantasy 11, FF11 wins.
Do you see? Who's making the most sales? Who has the highest chance of turning a profit? The company that's actually getting payed, perhaps?
No matter how many situations where you don't get the competitor's product, you've also not gotten the company's product, either. You've experienced it, but you didn't actually get it. It may help influence your purchase of the product or of a future release, but you still haven't done anything to benefit the publisher. I'm a pirate myself, but I'm not an idiot. I at least have the sense to figure out what I'm doing and how it relates to the companies I steal from.
And if you need help understanding the examples, "I" doesn't need to be "me". It can be "if x is pirated y times", and we ignore that the MMOs have monthly fees. They're examples, and could have been replaced with some other game from some other genre.
-
You do have a very good point there
It is a business, so they will have to make a profit
Basically, the whole "You're busy pirating my things, so you like my things more than my competitors" will only have to be mental
So yeah...profit in this case will beat "I WUV YOU SO I'M STEALING YOUR ****"
Sorry for my stupidity
-
I've been pirating for years. It gives you time to think about how you're really not helping.
That's why I ultimately buy things that I've stolen if they're available and something that I felt was worth buying.
I currently have a very large stack of unopened CDs. They know that they're awesome, I know that they're awesome. But the plastic wrap will remain until my hard drive melts and needs replacing.

Pirating new games makes you cancerous.
You dont support anything.
Get a job, and buy it.
As much as i loathe consumerism, if you like new games, buy them
However
when it comes to old titles, and things like virtual consoles, pirate pirate pirate
when it comes to things like photoshop that the average person cannot afford
pirate
but if its a 60$ game, and youre being a cheap fucktard, then buy it. Pretend numbers dont put food on the tables of the people that code games, and they dont put clothes on the backs of graphic designer's children.
Saying things like
notorious for antipiracy bullshit
makes you generally a piece of **** that makes games more expensive for people like me who work full time, pay bills, and spend time making conciseness consumer investments into legitimate entertainment. You need to get a sense of "theives honor"...
In the pre-industrial world, if you were a theif and practised your craft without honor, other theives would follow you into a back alley and shank you. Because you make everything worse for the rest of us who actually have a code of morals when it comes to piracy.
Archem is better then you.
Back on topic....
Crystal chronicles sucked ballsax.
The DS remake was mediocre. The first couple of hours were fun, and then the gameplay just became straining.
The wiiware kingdom simulator was quite addictive...but then youd pull yourself away after a while and say "There was not even a point to that game" and i never played it again.
Square deserves to get pirated big time. Theyve recently decided to never release anything new and innovative, title wise, and as such, their numbers deserve to drop until they understand that eventually their milk cows will run dry, and they have to buy some goats.
Edit: I realize ive contradicted myself once or twice here, but i honestly dont giveashit.
-
I will probably pirate a lot less once I get a job. But im not even legally able to get a job yet, so pirating is the way for me.
-
And here we go.
First thoughts on FFCC2 to the DS.
Stats
The stats are divided into 2 parts according to the manual. Attack and defence.\|
That made me a bit sad at first. But once I started playing I realized that there were two attack stats adn two defence stats. attack-attack and magic-attack. Defence-defence and magic-defence. Thank god for that or the Yukes could hide in the sewers.
Upon closer investigation, I also noticed that there is a page filled with elemental dmg and def. So I supose you can find equipment that boosts Blizzard only for example.
You can find orbs while defeating enemies. These orbs act as EXP. in one way.
At the start if you find 5 thunder orbs or such: your thunder resistance increases one step and you need a higher amount of thunder orbs to advance to a new level of resistance. I'm not so sure if this was a great idea but we'll see.
Magic
Everyone have all magics. Fire, blizzard, thunder, cure, clear, life. You don't need to pick up magicites to be able to use them. Magic also costs MP this time around(the SP of the old game is replaced with MP now) which makes it a bit better than the old "You can do an infinite number of blizzards once you've found a magicite" in FFCC and "you can use blizzard if you have a magicite, but the amount of blizzards depend on your pocket size".
They've also added some new combos like Protect and such.
Weapons and races.
The Lilthies does not run around with ladles like in FFCC DS, they start out with a spear.
In fact. Every race can use every weapon. Yepp, it's true. I think.
Every race start with a different weapon. Clavats: swords, Lilthies: spears, Yukes: staffs, Selkies: paddles(same as in FFCC GC).
I'm not sure if some races are better with one sort of weapon than others but we'll see.
Well actually, the Selkie charge attack does not work with a bow, it's called "Paddle charge" after all.
The question is if I'll be able to get "Sword charge" if I use swords enough.
Anyway. You can only to the stab-attack with pointy weapons this time(limited to Clavats in FFCC DS), so in other words. Swords and spears. Jump and hold the attack button and they'll stab it good.
Gear crafting and gear lvl.
I'm not sure but I think it works like this.
You find the plans for a weapon ect.
You can now make that equipment as long as you have the mats and visit the blacksmith-thingy.
I could make more than one helmet at the same time and it was limited only to my materials it seemed.
All the armours and weapons I've found so far can be used by every race it seems. So that's pretty much like FFCC DS I think.
Your weapons and armours and all that will also increase in level.
The higher level; the better stats.
Sockets and jewels.
In FFCC you couldn't give your equipment any special bonuses.
IN FFCC DS you had to craft the gear and include a gem during it and you'd get some random bonuses depending on the gem.
This time. They've made it like Dark Cloud. Oh yes, the PS2 game.
You can visit a shop and "Generate jewels" from your equipment.
You can only break a weapon into jewels if it's greater than or equal to: 3.
The Jewel will have a bonus, like "Fire magic+" or "SP+" maybe even "veggie +".
You can then but the jewel into an equipment to get the boost.
Each armour piece ect got a set number of sockets so you can't boost them beyond reason.
And that's what I can say about the game so far.

So, then, let me get this straight...Echoes of Time for the DS and the Wii...are the same game...and can connect with each other over WiFi...am I correct...?

Quite so.
Both games also have the same graphics as far as I know. Only the wii version costs a 10$ more or so.
-
Hmm...seeing as I've got Izuna 2, Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon, J!US, Bleach: Dark Souls, Shiren the Wanderer, Luminous Arc 2, and Etrian Odyssey 2 in the backburner...I might have to pass for now...sounds interesting, though!

OKAY; I have played this game a lot (Level 80 Clavat or something.) and I must say: The first DS CC SUCKED. This one however makes up for the first one in every way possible. The only downfall of this game is the terrible online lag, other than that, they went out of their way to make this game enjoyable. I don't have my DS on me right now (Wont for a couple of weeks; finals are here and that thing is too distracting.) but when I get it back, I'll play with whoever. (I can solo the hardest optional boss on hard mode, that should tell you how over powered I am.) Also, I remember having a lot of free goodies to give away.
-
Well, I've barely gotten into the game yet.
Still working on the chaingame but I'll play more once my first part is done.
But I had a lvl 99 clavat in the first FFCC DS with 999 in all stats, with the starting gear.(MP)
Sure loved Artemecion and his Mog mart.
-
I knew this fur awhile. I played FFCC: Ring of Fates. and loved it. :3
I saw this new one and had a win attack. I'm trying to gather $ to buy it.
