Of late, my dog and I have been sharing food, as disturbing as I'm sure that sounds. Meat and fruit and from time to time things like cheese - things of that sort. My question for you - good people of Charasia - is this: Besides chocolate, is there anything that is dangerous for a dog to eat? :P
Discuss.

I know that dogs can't eat chocolate, onions, or beer, because their livers can't process them.

Molten lava.
Knives.

You shouldn't actually feed pets with your food.
You see, the food you eat are filled with conservative substances and crap so that it lasts longer. Not only that but also a buttload of taste-enchanters.
Dogs should eat dog food because our food is unhealthy for them: It's too fat and doesn't include everything they need.
But you want your dog to roll to your door, go ahead.
-
Um actually you can give dogs rice, meat & veggies. It's pretty healthy for them & they love it.
Dogs are naturally carnivores and dry food is unnatural to them. Raw meat is better for them then cooked but I give my dog either. I usually mix it in with his dry food so he'd be more inclined to eat it.
I've also given him fish (boneless) which he loves. I've tried that organic ****, he wasn't to fond of it. It had real veggies in it.
You're not suppose to give dogs chocolate, beer, soda, sugar, garlic, anything spicy (makes them aggressive) or peanuts.
Also, after I stopped feeding him organic and mixing human food with his dogfood he stopped having bad gas! =O

There's a laundry list apparently:
"Alcohol can cause breathing difficulties, abnormal blood acidity, coma and death in dogs. At parties, don’t let anyone offer your dog a ‘drink.’
Avocadoes contain persin which can cause digestive upsets and heart problems.
Bones may splinter and puncture or obstruct the digestive tract.
Broccoli in large amounts can cause illness in dogs.
Chocolate, coffee and tea all contain stimulants that cause abnormal heartbeat, seizures and death in dogs. Chocolate is especially dangerous for dogs.
Corn on the cob is dangerous. Even though the corn will be digested, chunks of cob may obstruct the digestive tract
Grapes and raisins contain an unknown substance that causes kidney failure in dogs.
Liver in large amounts can cause Vitamin A toxicity.
Macadamia nuts contain an unidentified toxin that causes weakness, tremors, panting and swelling in the legs.
Walnuts may have a fungus or mold which causes drooling, jaundice, lack of coordination, and vomiting.
Milk is difficult for some dogs to digest effectively, which leads to G.I. upsets.
Mushrooms and molds can be toxic to dogs. Some varieties are more toxic than others.
Nutmeg is a seasoning that causes tremors, seizures, and death in dogs.
Onions and garlic, both cooked and raw, contain thiosulphate which can cause digestive upsets, hemolytic anemia, and death. Onions contain more of the toxin than garlic does.
Raw egg whites contain avidin which causes B vitamin deficiency, skin problems and skeletal deformities Raw eggs can also harbor salmonella or e.coli.
Raw fish, especially salmon, may contain parasites that are dangerous for dogs.
Seeds and fruit pits can cause choking or intestinal blockages and some contain cyanide which is toxic to dogs.
Xylitol causes an insulin reaction in dogs which can lead to liver failure within a few days. It’s found in many candies, gums, toothpastes, and pastries.
Greasy, fatty table scraps can cause pancreatitis in dogs. Pancreatitis is an inflammation of the pancreas caused when too much digestive enzyme is produced. Affected dogs may have bloody vomit or diarrhea and suffer dehydration and even death.
Snacks shared with your dog need to be checked for hidden ingredients. Some foods such as cookies, gravies, and even some baby foods, can contain chocolate, nuts, onions, excessive salt or sugar, or other items dangerous for dogs. Keeping garbage cans secured is a good idea too."

It's a coton de tulear. Regardless of that, though, I'd say I have a pretty good idea of what to and not to feed her. Thanks to you, one and all :P

Pretty sure that's true. Like, if you give a cat a bag of meat and leave for a week, they'll ration it over the course of the week. If you give a dog the same, they'd probably eat the entire thing in one sitting.
-
Would make sense. Dogs are pack animals by nature and gorging behaviour probably works when theres a ton of other dudes sharing the food.

And humans. :D

I used to give potato chips to my dog. (Not a lot, though)
I sometime gave her Jalapeño potato chips and she would lick her lips because it was spicy. I gave her more.
Peanut butter. It was fun watching your dog trying to eat it all.
I would also sometime throw a bread slice at her face and should would eat it. That was cool.

I swear, I used to be a dog. We love all the same things. Especially gravy on all our food (but we only get that as a special treat when we've been good).

O.o...
Aww Archem, I'd spoil you!
Val, you're right. Cats rarely worry about food because they fend for themselves in the solitary life XD

Hmm I think you should go to your neighborhood Pet co, if there is one. That's how I found out Chihuahuas can't have wheat and grapes.

Any time, babe. Any time. ;)

Yep, which means they can somehow spend four hours hunting and the other 20 sleeping.
Further proof that there's no better way to work than alone.
-
I don't like it when people give dogs scraps, they'll always follow you to the dinner table and sit there till they get something. Dogs should be taught to hunt for their own food. Like humans...

onions are extremely bad for Dogs

Grew up with one of these, dont know what the race is called in english.
Strange thing was, he was ****ing CRAZY about chocolate, so we always had some to give him like
once a day or so, and sometimes you would forget something lying on the living room table and he
would joink it. As much chocolate as he ate, he lived healthily for 15 full years, was only in bad shape
during his last month.

Stay well clear of raisins and grapes. I heard ages ago that a huge, healthy dog ate a tiny amount of them and died.
EDIT: My mum pisses me off, because she feeds him all-sorts. He ate a plastic containter corner the other day and was puking everywhere... oh my.
-
Around dinnertime I mix our food with his so he wont bother us while we eat.
