Title: Are there any people still interested in RP?
Post by: Prpl_Mage on April 20, 2009, 07:14:20 AM
I'm checking this to see if there's any point in making something up.

I have some ideas but they're not really complete. I'll think harder when I know you people want me to do so.

So poll it up and I'll know for sure.

I only like modern or futuristic rps. But if any of them pop up, i'll gladly join.

i secretly have wanted to rekindle the faceless, but havent the mental energy to make the maps and remember what was going on. A shame, that one would have been epic.

Im always down to take part....i dont do futuristic though.

Man, I wish there was a good steampunk RP

No lonewolf.
This is RP. Not RPG maker.
RP is when people write stories together.
So all you need is a vision and something to write.

It does not need any resources like chipsets and charsets.

I am. Kind of feel bad the RP board has fallen to disuse.

*Raises hand*.

Whether I'm active enough to take part is another matter, but the fact I'm in an rp might provide incentive enough to log  on regularly.

Just out of the blue.
What kinds of RPs do you guys enjoy?

I know the chaingame is going to be postapocalyptic by the looks of things but is it the same with RP as well?

I know and like steampunk a lot. Futuristic/sci fi is usually a bit beyond my own taste. Modern grows dull after a while(just my opinion). Medieval works to.

I like rps where you have freedom to create fantastic characters with powers and stuff. RPs where everyone's roughly the same and it's their personalities that clash and create an interesting story are fantastic in principle but don't usually work well unles you're going for proper roleplaying with stats and stuff. My favourite rps were Red's superhero one where everyone was different and certain people godmoded and it was the amazing dynamic of characters who could shape the entire story rather than just responding to situations, and Drag's where I had magical powers. Soo... I know Gem and such like rps to be a little lower key but I prefer a lot more freedom in mine.

We have some great RPers here. Pathwalker was wonderful.

I'd be happy to join in, and I concur with everything Jim just posted.

I've never understood how RPs with stats. Actually I haven't even seen one beside Dungeons and dragons or something.

Ok, I admit. You made me curious.
Exactly how does an RP work with stats and stuff?

I like pretty much would enjoy/participate in any RP except a post-apocalyptic style; they get kinda boring and there isn't much of a goal other than tosurvive.

oh, and
Man, I wish there was a good steampunk RP
I agree with gemini 1000%
I'd like to join a nice Sci-Fi RP, but honestly I'll join anything that isn't gory killer thriller type or oof the wall. I'd like to see a good space opera RP, but less giant robots more epic battles, space exploration and ofcourse lots of character development.

Well, usually it works better in with paper in person rather than online, but they work a lot like dungeons and dragons where there's a dungeon master who knows the story and gives you situations. Your stats are usually decided at the start and you roll dice for battle and avoiding things and stuff. Over the internet, the DM would probably use a computer randomiser or roll the dice for each person to ensure fairness. They can stil be very story based but they take far more work than our sort of rps...

If its not sci-fi or postapoc, Ill gladly join.

I wish people would get over postApoc
its just so played out right now.

Id rather RP pokemanz, or some king arthur crap.

I actually had been debating asking all the old guys if they wanted to pick up Pathwalker again, but...  Idunno.

I've only been in two on here, and those were medievel RPs, but...  I'd most likely join if one started.

I'm actually in the process of making a steampunk RP, but elsewhere.
I've never RPed on Charas, though.

Yeah that and my laziness ruined The Wasteland and it was going good too.

Always up for an RP. Any genres good for me, though I have gotten really sick of Japanese and Medieval Europe.

Alright. We have 14 people voting yes. I suppose that's enough to start something then.

Do we want multiple or a single one?
And if so; what settings would you people like. I got the general idea from this thread but I get the feeling that we need to sort some things out before we can start one.

I'm generally against RPs based on existing universes (Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, etc) ESPECIALLY Sonic the Hedgehog.

I really have no interest for fantasy/medievel stuff. At all.

I can work in sci-fi. Reality-based is boring with a capital B.

What about something kind of like BSG (not a BSG rp, but in that kind of genre)..

That falls along the lines of sci-fi.
Title: Re: Are there any people still interested in RP?

Yeah, but that sort of style WITHIN sci fi. Like...as opposed to sometihng like The Matrix.

Space exploration derivative of Sci-Fi I believe you mean. I hope you don't mean soap-operaish where everybody and their grandma at some point is a cylon.

Lol he made a Battlestar joke. Seriosly, you want to know my major turn off in any RP? Giant, epic military battles. I mean like, your side's fellt has 12,150 ships in it and his side has just as many if not more. That's what kills most Sci-Fi Starpilot RPs, or at least all the ones I've treid. It's fun to a degreee then it just gets to where every time you take your turn, you're trying to survive and that gets me.

Yeah, I don't have many ships, XD I have the flagship S.S. Sentanna with the pirate captain Blake T. Branxton III and his crew, boldly plundering where no one has plundered before!
