they dont seem to work in RPG maker 2003, which is what they should work in. it just says 'invalid colour depth' and refuses them. how can i make them work? i'd be grateful for some help please.

Did you save the file directly from the generator?

i did that with PNG, it didnt save properly. it came out all fuzzy and disorientated. i downloaded the Jpegs but they were a bit too fuzzy, so i copied the image and pasted on paint, then saved them as Bitmaps.

Fuzzy and disoriented is JPEG files.
PNG shouldn't be any problem.
The problem itself now is that BMP uses too many colours for the maker to handle.
You need to get one of them picture-editing tools like Irfanview for example.
Find the option and decrease the colour depth to 256 or lower.
It should work then.

wait.. that's weird. in MS paint it looks completely wrong yet when i put it on Tinypic to show you... it's normal again. so im trying that now, the PNGs, but it says invalid image size... T.T now what?

You probably saved the wrong picture or so. Like if you saved the preview instead of the actual thing.
Or maybe it's just a single pixel too large.
It can't be larger than 144x384 in size.

Oh right, charsets not battlecharset.
And I have no idea how your computer could screw up that pic so badly. Haven't heard about this kind of problem before.
Try again and see if the same problem happens.

Holy snoot! You know to import a charset it has to have 6, right? After you get it into the correctomundo size, not the enlarged version BTW, save the pic as a PNG, then go to http://www.online-utility.org/image_converter.jsp and convert it to a GIF. Then download the GIF, save it as the PNG from before, import it using the import utility in RPG Maker, not by dragging it into the folder directly, and click on the background. That should do it. If it doesn't work there's something wrong with your computer.

Ha, i get that exact same problem of the immage ****ing up. Not that i use rtp charsets anyway...

If all else fails, bring out the Prnt Scrn button.
