Vocaloid (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vocaloid) is a Japanese computer program that allows you to have one of a selection of anime-styled characters sampled from voice actors SING FOR YOU (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbbA9BhCTko). You just type in the lyrics in Japanese or in newer versions Japanese or English, and compose a melody using a an electric piano, and it happens. Is this awesome or what.

Uh, ok.
This thread needs more substance, though. It seems like it was made for shits and giggles, not for anything useful.
Spamesque, even.

Ah, heck, you're all late to the party--my friends and I have been all over Vocaloid for months already. As it is, we've already gotten them divided up: One of my friends is the Miku-guy (he's a fan of Miku), another is a fan of Megurine Luka (they both like coffee), and I'm a fan of the fan-made Yowane Haku.
Ah, nerdiness... it's so...deculture!
-
I remember the first time I ran into Vocaloid. It was upon downloading an mp3 credited to "Hatsune Miku."
I thought she was a real singer. How surprised I was.
-
I wonder if anyone has met her friend, the Leek? There's a vid where she wails on Vegeta, Saito (from Kenshin), and even the Yaranaika guy with it...
Also, one of her cousins, Rin (she has a Steamroller) got her own music video where she imitated Ronnie James Dio Marlon Brando...
-
Isn't that just a Loituma girl reference? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leekspin)

It is. The leek was not official. Maybe it is now; I'm not sure...

Well, you have to remember, that like Touhou, a lot of the qualities that Miku and co. have are fan-made. For example, there really isn't a connection between Kaitou and Miku, but fans put them together as a couple.

I saw it in a mango once.

A mango, you say?

Yes, a mango.

You would "know" of course. Ugh, sometimes you really annoy the **** out of me with your Wapanese bull****.
She was the original, Miku is someone else.

Thank you. I enjoy the occasional anime/manga/other entertainment item of Japanese origin, but God dammit, I don't want to hear about it when I'm not enjoying it.
