Title: Why the HELL is F.E.A.R. lagging?

This makes no sense. I play COD 4, Orange Box, Bioshock, Left 4 Dead and even
F.E.A.R. 2 on max settings and they run FINE.

I ran a performance test for F.E.A.R. on max graphics and it ran really smoothly and got an
amazing performance report of about 120 FPS.

My computer is pretty damn good, but as soon as I play F.E.A.R. normally, without running the
benchmark test, the graphics look disgusting and it lags like a rancid beast. It makes no sense!
Can anyone help? Cheers!

Is it patched to the current version? Also, I'm aware from past experiences that shadows in that game can kill a great computer.

It runs fine on my shitty rig that cant even run Gmod on low without lag. Albiet, i DO run fear on all low at 800x600

What video card are you running? Are the drivers up-to-date?

I got my 8800GT around christmas time... so they're pretty up-to-date I think. Dunno.

I returned F.E.A.R for Mass Effect... which won't run.

I swear, this is the most exciting 18th birthday ever...

No, you don't know. Go to NVIDIA's site and check for a patch.

Is your copy of FEAR legit? If not it may have come intertwined with viruses or some other major character flaw that gets to windows. Try scanning. Even if it's legit, try scanning.

ALSO: For all my computer problems (I used to have.) I would pay very close attention to the symptoms, (Like, where it lags, when the lag begins ect.) and google them; chances are someone else has had the same problem you have, and someone has walked them through that problem.
