Now, i've recently gotten addicted to the Digital Devil Saga, part 1 and 2 for the SNES (Took me a year of patch work -_-;) And Persona, for the PS1 (400$ out of my wallet -_-;)
Now, I was wondering, is it possible to shift gameplay from first person to overhead?
For example, as in Persona;
When moving about a dungeon, you view things in first person, however, when you enter a room, it shifts to the standered overhead view.
Is this at all possible? I remember Purple Mage was creating a Tactics game using RPG Maker 2K3, so maybe I may not sound so crazy?

Digital Devil Saga 1 and 2 are for the PS2, dude. I beat them both, BTW. Angel is CREEPY as heck. Especially when you found out WHAT Angel is. O_o
Also, no. It is not possible in RM. Persona 1 uses a 3D map layout with textures similar to Doom. I remade the mall from Persona 1 in Doom. So anyways, the answer is no if you mean the 3D dungeon crawler stuff.

AHEM!
You are WRONG sir!
Digital Devil Saga, which is SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI, origionally started out, for the SNES, it was never released in America, but I have had it patched and translated (The ROM I mean, the SNES ROM), now, in America, they released the continuence, which is, Digital Devil Saga: PERSONA,
Starting with-- Persona: REVELATIONS, then Persona 2: INNOCENT SIN, then there are two others which I have little knowledge of. If you disbelieve me, just google SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI, and put SNES next to it, you can see for yourself.
ANYWAY, thank you for answering my questions.

AHEM!
You are wrong. As I will now mash you to mush. And laugh. LAUGH!!!!
Digital Devil Saga 1 and 2 are two games for the PS2 where you devour your enemies.
The Megaten games for the SNES are as follows:
Shin Megami Tensei (1, 2, and IF...)
Majin Tensei (1 and 2)
Last Bible III
Kyaaku Megami Tensei (Remakes of the two games for the NES)
There exists no Digital Devil Story, you may be referring to the two NES games "Digital Devil Monogatari: Megami Tensei" games by Namco. But it became Shin Megami Tensei on the SNES and was picked up by Atlus. Digital Devil Monogatari as you can see was removed from the title.

This is odd, well, if that is true, then why the heck does this dang ROM tell me it's DDS!?
Oh well;
However, all those games you listed, are they all inter-connected to the Persona Series?
-
That was apparently an error in the naming of the roms. Apparently a mistranslation somewhere along the lines.
Sorta-kinda. Persona is a spin-off of the the Megami Tensei series, as is Last Bible and Majin Tensei.
-
Really now?
How incredibly fascinating--
-- Hey Darkfox, can you do me a quick favor, and just type in a list of the whole series (Spin offs included) and the systems their for?
This is an opportunity I CANNOT pass up!
From the moment I booted up Megami Tensei for the SNES, I was in love, the prospect of mediating with demons to coerce them into fighting for your cause was a concept that blew my mind, being a kid who grew up on Final Fantasy, I have to say, that Persona, and Megami, have stolen me away...
And any respective gamer would know, that once you've clawed onto a favorite series, you MUST see them through!!!
I must play them all, and beat them all!
And with your help Darkfox, I could realize this!
PS= Blating demons with SMG's was also a fun twist to the traditional swordplay concept! However, I have never heard of the Devil Story series for the PS2, and the devouring of demons seems different from the traditional talking to them, does it have the same feel as the others? Either way, i'll play them
-
Actually, DF, Digital Devil Story is what he's talking about. That was the name of the Novel Megami Tensei is based off of. Also, a remake is being made for Persona on the PSP! It's out in japan and will be in the US soon
-
Okay I'll try to do this as much as I can remember.
NES:
Megami Tensei (1 and 2)
SNES:
Shin Megami Tensei (1, 2, and IF...)
Majin Tensei (1 and 2, both are strategy RPGs)
Last Bible III
Kyaaku Megami Tensei (this is a combo package remake of the original Megami Tensei 1 and 2)
PS1:
Persona 1
Persona 2 (Innocent Sin and Eternal Punishment)
Shin Megami Tensei (1, 2, and IF...) I think all of these game had a PSX release
Devil Children (a remake of the GBC games)
Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers
PS2:
Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne
Digital Devil Saga (Parts 1 and 2)
Devil Summoner: Kuzunoha Raidou (there are two games by this title that are 1 and 2)
Perona 3
Persona 4
GBA:
Shin Megami Tensei (remade again)
Devil Children
There are others, there is an unofficial PC version, and there is a SMT MMORPG too.
Edit: Oh right, Digital Devil Story was the original novel. XD
-
Mwahahaha!
Now the harvest can begin!
Thank you friends! There is work to be done...
Hold the phone...
Last Bible 3 is a Megami spinoff... What of part 1 and 2?
Also...
WHAT THE F**K IS ANGEL!?
PS: Ah, so this all started from a novel you say? Heh, now I can get my wife addicted!
-
WHAT THE F**K IS ANGEL!?
She swings both ways, but in a more literal sense.
-
She swings both ways, but in a more literal sense.
Yeah, IT does.
-
Well, I just got my copy of the game today and I saw a eye thingie that called itself angel. So, no spoilers. >_>
I was surprised, I mad Angel rather made with my question. All those "@$&@" and "^$@*&"s I saw meant she doesn't take well to being asked simple questions. This is of course if you mean Angel from the PS2 DDS. If not I is confused
-
Angel has a dirty mouth. XD
-
I blame the public schools

Theoretically this could be done in old-school Bard's Tale fashion using pictures, input password functions, and variables. Drawing the pictures would be the easy part. This would be a programming nightmare, I think, because it would have to keep track of where you are on the map and all the key-presses and picture combinations necessary to get around said map. But, it's possible.
-
I guess the hardest part would be working with the pictures then. You'd have to draw about...30 pictures of various hallways and doors and rooms. And then probably do different versions of those hallways, doors and rooms. Yikes! So here you are, building your dungeon...and you have 120 pictures of random hallways, doors, and rooms to select from. Yeah, have fun with that!
