Right... I'm a tad confused. I have a high-end kind of PC which can play just about every game on max
with the exception of Crysis.... because that would be stupid!
I was really happy with my PC, then I went to a friend's house who has a PS3 and a TV with 1080i resolution
and an HDMI cable connection. He plugged it in and put Mirror's edge on. I'm pretty sure my PC couldn't run
a game at that resolution and that speed to be honest.
My question is... doesn't resolution greatly slow down a game? So why can an inferior PS3 run a game at such an
amazing resolution on that lovely TV? Is it worth me getting a 1080i PC screen, since I'm a complete PC game geek?
-
i dunno
-
I'm so confused. I also feel a bit ripped off.
-
No.
-
The PC is having to do other things which will slow it down. The PS3 can focus its power on one thing because it doesn't have any games.
-
Besides, Mirror's Edge? c'mon.
-
Delete everything from your PC but the games. You'll get better resolution than the PS3.

As funny as that is, it is full of logical fail. XD
-
I'm just saying I genuinely reckon my PC couldn't run the stuff
going on in that PS3. Apparently, the 8800GT along with the rest
of my rig is nearly twice as powerful as a PS3!

Delete your mind.
It'll be faster than the PS3 that way.

Hm... ... ... nope, I'm getting no reception from this thing. XD
-
Because it was never there to begin with.
Or... was it?!
-
theres nothing wrong with owning a ps3. theyre actually quite handy if you have a large hi-res screen.
My only complaint is that the high def sound on a ps3 is a bit lacking if you are looking to be an audiophile while you are gaming
inb4 PS3 is GHEY XBOX IS BETTER, IM A GIANT FAG

It's not really that hard to run Mirror's Edge...
Also, a console doesn't really run a game at that insanely high of a resolution. It helps that you don't have the television two feet from your face. Plus, yeah, the way that the PS3 OS and it's lack of background operations works makes a difference, too. You're not completely correct in saying that a PS3 is better. It just seems that way because it's all optimized to look that way. Lots of other little short-cuts are taken with console games to make them look good without killing their frame rate.

Considering PS3's "10 year plan" it won't be long before PC is better in every possible way, save perhaps OPERATING SYSTEMS (gg microsoft)
-
The PS3 runs one thing at a time. Your computer runs many. Thus, a slight lag may occur with more stuff being done. And mirrors edge isnt that fun after youve beat it. Also, games dont need the highest resolution to be fun :D
-
Besides, FFXIII Versus.

Not to worry, you can install Linux on your PS3 if you want to be more confused and disillusioned than you already are at having bought a PS3.

Just a note, (But probably everyone already knows this, since nobody brought it up), that you can minimize your computers background processes by doing a clean boot (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310353). It's done me a bit of good when trying to run oblivion.
-
Isn't that safe-mode
-
No. Safe mode, I'm pretty sure, disables a lot more things than what a clean-boot does. Clean-Boot pretty much stops everything that ISN'T needed for a normal windows boot. So, some programs still start up. Just not the fluff, like Antivirus programs or MSN equivalents.

I'm not saying I want Mirror's Edge. Just saying I thought resolution obliterated framerates at that level.

Simple. Not enough **** going on. Just flash and glimmer. Problem solved.

It's not as bad as you think. Trust me, I have experience with this type of thing.

Hmmmm... wondering whether to buy a 1080 monitor. They're awfully cheap you know!
