Title: E3 2009
Post by: Apex on June 03, 2009, 11:16:22 PM
So, what did everyone think about it?

I personally thought that Nintendo did pretty horrible.

Also enough motion sensing technology, please, ALL THREE of them did nothing but tout it.

I was pissed at the lack of XIII Versus, but wow, XIV was announced.

There will be a XIV? Wow... I hope it's good or I'll remake FFIX myself.

Nintendo's wasnt as bad as everybody thinks. Everyone wanted another Zelda to be publicly announced, so when it isn't everyone blame Ninty. I don't know why really. Zelda wii is a game we all knew existed since Twilight Princess.

Instead I am happy we are getting 2 new Metroid games( One that was kept under radar til yesterday; Other M, and one thought to be scrapped;  Dread) and another unnamed mystery game by Retro Studios. Things really confirmed at E3 ninty side.

Only reason why ppl think M$ won this year was cuz of the new halo game, although seriously we all knew Bungie wasnt and wont leave the halo series alone. Although TBH I loved the fact that L4D 2 is coming out.

However I for one thought Sony's was crap. Nothing I really hadn't heard before. except FF14... but it's online so bah.

natal was leaked, i gotta say i am not really surprised. That kinda technology ahs been around. I am more surprised at the fact that sony and MS after much critic to ninty they go about the same way.

Final Fantasy XIV is going to be online? Like XI? That kinda sucks.

I want to get Silent Hill: Shattered Memories and Splatterhouse. It kinda sucks that a new Zelda wasn't announced. They should revamp Zelda II. They could make an incredible game if they did that.

Super Mario Galaxy 2

I should really pay attention to already existing threads.

XIV is going to be online, but I doubt it'll be much like XI, seeing that as of now it's a PS3 exclusive. MMO games usually aren't CONSOL exclusive, they are usually at least on the PC. I bet it's just got like Online Coop or something. Also Natal didn't look all that cool compared to Sony's color-changing dildo camera thing. Didn't look as polished, but it seemed more capable.

Also, I didn't see anything on Dread, was that announced later?

Inb4 shitstorm of console wars etc.
Also, L4D 2 is an AWFUL idea, it came way too soon.

I was also pissed at L4D2's appearance. It's coming out almost exactly a year after the first game (give a take a few days in theory) and if it isn't compatible with the original, then it will totally cannibalise its playerbase.
This happens with most series sure, but it shouldn't happen so soon after.
Also, Valve initially promised to continue supporting L4D after release with new levels and weapons, but that really hasn't come to effect so far. I heard they claim to intend to support both games at once, but that's just stupid.

just like Halo.
Not really, Halo, Halo 2 and Halo 3 have all been 3 years apart. ODST is compatible with Halo 3 (right?) so it doesn't count. Reach might not be, but then it might not even be an FPS at this point.
Looking forward to it though.

>FFXIV
Well this could be interesting
>MMORPG
I will never pay attention to the name "FFXIV" again

Are you telling me that Halo have been around for 9 years now? I'm getting old.

Anyway, I get the feeling that Halo will be a new FF. Too many games in a rather short time.
Square did a new one every two years or so. So I guess we'll see Halo 12 in the stores when we're middle aged men with wives and kids.

The longevity is questionable since Master Chief's story is supposedly over.
But it's all in the same universe (unlike FF) so it's nice to see more of the story told, so says me.

Acctualy I bet half the fourm thinks your way Prpl.
I would go and say Gears of war was overrated, but I tend to live and let die. Though I hate that game as much as I hate the term furfag
I just love the online multiplayer really. It's free movment and enviorment is diffrent from any other FPS I've seen. Whereas CoD, Gears, and Killzone keep the same horizontal line of fire into check, Halo hits all angles of fire.

Actually, I thought the 2 Mario games coming out looked great. So did Metroid... and a new Zelda game completely different from its predecessors!
Looks like he's finally got his act together and changed the gameplay mechanics!

I really want a PS3 at this moment in time.

Also, a few good things coming out for a PC gamer like myself :D

I don't like the story mode, but I love to play versus. What I game I really liked the look of was Fable 2. I like the idea of being able to play with other players instantly and still gain exp and other stuff you normally can't do in online console games. I wish they'd make another Star Wars The Force Unleashed. They did a better job with that than I expected and I'd realy like to see another one. I heard a rumor from a guy who works at a game store that they're going to but, I don't know if they can.

The thing is, isn't the point of releasing a new Halo game, two Halo games actually, to provide a new single player experience? If so, why the **** are people hyped out about these games? Especially seeing as the single player sessions from the last two Halo main games lacked in that department.

Also, people are already sick of Mario games getting spin-off after spin-off. What should make Halo that different? They're just milking the franchise, and they could as well just create a new series instead of rehashing the same thing over again. I mean, there's not much you can add to the series at this point.

they arent really adding to the series, but just extending parts of the story you play

odst isnt a new game, its just really the untold story of what happened before halo 2 i think.

L4D2 is a complete curveball, coming from valve. I don't think any more needs to be said about that. I hope this is some kind of spazzy, momentary lapse of morality, the kind that causes people to feel up their hot cousin from out of town when they come over to visit for the first time in seven years when she was totally gagging for it and I didn't think anyone would find out.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 almost sounds like something you'd say in jest if it weren't real. I'm much more excited about 4-player 2d mario wii times.

All in all, you know something's up when this is my most highly anticipated game of the near future. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uPnTSvX86Dw)

And what is with Other M? Metroid is not about action killy murder pow it is about beauty exploration collection backtrack.

Yeah; seven years is totally enough for body development.

On Dread: Metroid series co-creator said on an interview that Other M was not or was part of Dread and that Dread is a totally different metroid project.

On Other M: They're keeping the exploration on it, just that now they have added action sequences to fighting, along with anime-style 3d cutscenes by an unknown/unannounced company.

on L4D2: I don't feel bad. I already got the fun out of L4D1 that was worth 50$. I have to admit, I am one of people that actually have like to have games sooner.  From what I can tell l4d2 is a full sequel, so I got no objection. But I would want for them to update the first one along with the second one.

On zelda wii:

Leaked picture of it from Shiggy conference:
http://files.myopera.com/lutherjw/blog/zelda%20wii%20art.jpeg

Picture was tkaen witha  cell phone from back of room

it's small but someone that saw it on live drew a third grader picture of it so you guys can imagine it better

Probably just what they needed to show a trailer, since exploration backtrackiness doesn't exactly look good in a demo.

But it still makes me a lil uneasy. Retro did a damn fine job with the Prime series and I don't like the thoughts of another studio working on the series. Even if Samus DOES look really good with short hair.

Shiggy released the Zelda art for anyone that cares about Zelda
(http://cache.gawker.com/assets/images/kotaku/2009/06/fullzelda.jpg)

Now still for anyone that cares about Zelda, we of WAZAF (World Associates of Zelda Aficionados and Fans) have derived to several conclusions to this piece of art.

- Link was not simply not drawn with his sword. Its an official piece of work art for the game, not a sketch, not a rough draft; It even contains the LoZ Logo in it. Therefore we are lead to believe that Link's next adventure might completely be swordless or at some high percentage.
- This leads to conclude that the character behind link is indeed the master sword, or a living manifestation, or living incarnation of the MS if you will, or perhaps the lost spirit of the master sword (all the same really). The woman is standing BEHIND link, where his sword would usually be rested. Also notice: No sheath.
- Also Shiggy himself said:
Quote
"Well, the story setting for this Zelda is, of course, in a completely different era and Link is older than he was previously. More approaching adulthood. There is one hint. Maybe from the art work you can see that he's not holding a sword."
- In terms of "The next Zelda will be different" as said over time by nintendo, not being able to use a sword (MasterSword), is different  enough. So this backs that up.
In this picture analysis, personally, what leads me to believe this theory, is the yellow lines running along the line of the sword and the character itself. And well the design is very similar to that of the sword. And the colors, almost identical, if not so.
- Story might deal with the the creation or origin of the master sword if the above theory is correct.

Other theories include
- Fairy queen
- A Zora
- Something dealing with Fierce Deity

That's what I heard anyway. Long time ago.

I'm supposin' it's gonne be a twilight princess sequel, as tp was the only zelda title that actually ends on a cliffhanger, to my knowledge

and btw "I'm gonna come back and get your ancestors one day!"  doesn't count as a cliffhanger acause it doesn't leave you wondering what happens next. it spells it out (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQlkeDd4s_w)

Wells, I worded that wrong. There are other several games that I would also buy  if I got PS3 (and that I also would've liked to have gotten before they came out): MG4 and Little big world. But my focus now is that (FF). Basically cause is the first FF that I am interested in. Prolly cuz of the fem protagonist.

Point is, I aint gettin one now.
