I'm curious...what is your guys's "favorite game ever"?
Personally...mine is Dark Cloud 2.
Everything about that game is just perfect in my opinion.
The grinding, the exploration, the story, even the damn minigames are just sublime.
It's been like 4-5 years since I first played it.
I would gladly start a fresh new game just to experience everything again.

Wow, now that I'm thinking about it... I think my favourite game is Sauerbraten. That's kinda sad. But, I haven't spent nearly as much collective time on any other game, and I always end up coming back to it. I even have my own server and stuff.

On the topic of Final Fantasy VII: People decided like usual, that this was too popular, and figured that there needs to be critics of the game, which is perfectly acceptable. But when it gets to the point that everyone jumps on the hate bandwagon, it becomes more popular to hate it than like it. People should siding WITH Final Fantasy VII now that it's most popular to dislike, shouldn't they? Or maybe they should stop advocating against it, or for it if they are truly neutral on the topic. The anti-fanbase is more annoying than the fanbase is anyways.
If I were trolling, I would say that Chrono Trigger was a shitty game.
Besides DF, you know me better than this, this would be taking an cheap-shot troll, I like to be more creative.

A few years ago my "favouritest game ever" would most certainly have been FF7.
Oh sure it's not THE BEST GAME EVER like so many might proclaim, but I love it for its strengths and its flaws.
Nowadays? I'm not sure, but if those 400 hours I put into TF2 mean anything...

But when I tend to think of my favorite game, I think that you just cant flop a RTS, against a FPS, and a RPG. Saying that FFVII is my favorite game would not be giving everything credit. Where I loved FFVII some of favorite times were when I was playing halo or starcraft with my cousins, but mostly halo because we would always do stupid **** and lagh our asses off, or just get so pizzed off that something went wrong or someone got a 1/1,000,000 kill. I've never really ever had so much fun as when I played halo2 with them. The difference is there the great games you play with others, and the great games you play on your own.
But if I had to choose between FFVII TEH BESTESTEST GAME EVAH! and Halo 2, Im sorry to say Halo 2 would most likely win.

Anyway, FF7 was good in my opinion, but I don't really see the "Almighty Sephiroth" as a good villain. All he did was terrorize a few people, kill one girl, fail at killing another, killed the presidentt of an already evil organization, burnt down one little village, and failed at a meteor summon. I find Kefka was the better villain, because he got results from his villainry, such as poisoning a whole kingdom, enslaving a half-esper, killing off the majority of the espers, enslaving humanity, killing his emperor, becoming the emperor himself, taking over other cities, and becoming a god.
Anyway... Back to the main topic. My favorite game is a tie between Resident Evil Code: Veronica and Dissidia Final Fantasy.

I think the creators are lazy now, only focusing on graphics and what-not.
The ain't got enough time to make the game last more that about 5 hours.

People can hate FF all they like, it doesn't change the fact that "FFVII "IS" TEH BESTESTEST GAME EVAH!" for me, except prolly Halo2. But your free to your opinion as I am to mine. Actually I think its kind of funny when people hate on FF because its so great, makes me glad I dont stoop to that level of envy.

FF franchise at all. I think the battles are slow and repetitive...
...yet Final Fantasy X is my favourite game ever made.

People can hate FF all they like, it doesn't change the fact that "FFVII "IS" TEH BESTESTEST GAME EVAH!" for me, except prolly Halo2. But your free to your opinion as I am to mine. Actually I think its kind of funny when people hate on FF because its so great, makes me glad I dont stoop to that level of envy.
The point is that people get pushed away from a game when it is surrounded by a pack of raving, frothing-at-the-mouth fanboys.

Actually I have to say I can't choose a favorite. There are many awesome games...
On the side of SMT, it was the wacked out abstract worlds, deep twisted plots with multiple paths and thus multiple endings, and that your always missing something leaves for other things to explore. And it has it's own unique art style. The music isn't bad either.
Then are GUST's games like Ar Tonelico, Atelier Iris, and Mana Khemia. Games in the 3D dominant era were brave enough to be 2D and got some criticism for that. I liked it though, I needed a break from the 3D. I got involved in this series, like SMT. The main plots never seemed to be the focus but rather each character's personalities and even the villain's reason. And rarely is the final boss truly evil. Atelier Iris 3 had the only evil final boss in the series. The games too have replay value for those little extras and such. Also, the music tends to be AMAZING.
Then there is the "Secret of" games that were so fun to play with a friend. There was the Breath of Fire series (EXCLUDING DRAGON QUARTER). The Megaman games were great for a while. And there is Super Mario Bros. Well I can't choose. XD I've tasted pretty much all flavors of gaming and I love so much. Even MechWarrior, Unreal, Deus Ex, Duke Nukem, etc.
Oh! And Summon Night and it's spinoff: Swordcraft Story!

In all seriousness, I can't really pick out my favorite game. I have more than one. Kingdom Hearts 2, Street Fighter III: Third Strike, Persona 3, Banjo, and MUCH more. Though, I'm a fan of Fighting games, Action Games and RPGs (more so fighting than anything else). SO, I suppose fighting games are my favorite genre.

Seriously, I remember getting FF1 for NES the christmas after it came out...It had like, a mind blowingly big strategy guide for its time. Was awesome.

In a most likely failed attempt on my part to rejoin the community, I shall return from my long month absence (from which I said I would try to become a regular member).
My god, I have to digress off of an incomplete sentence. I have to work on not typing the entire train of thought coming into my mind.
I digest again.
Hands down, favorite game of all time Shin Megami Tensei Persona 3. Although Devil Survivor, another SMT game is closing in despite the fact I nearly hurled my DS out of frustration not 30 minutes ago because of it.
Although technically the mechanics of Persona 4 should make P4 my favorite, since the gameplay is without a doubt superior to it's predecessor, (mainly the removal of the fatigue system) P3 gets additional points for being my first SMT game, and also because I felt the story was just overall better. Although the latter could be due to the aforementioned first time SMT experience.
This post had poor structure, I'm aware.
EDIT: The Final Fantasy arguements make me giggle.

If I was to say my favorite game, it would be something like Henry Hatsworth in the Puzzling Adventure just for quirk. If judging by what I play all the time with most hours logged it'd be Mega Man X or Phantasy Star Online.

Rogue Galaxy. It's nicely written and it has the best battle system ever. It surprises me at every turn, the alchemy system is very cool and practical (unless you fuse the wrong stuff together and then lose your best weapon..). Plus I liked the diverse cast of characters. What more could you want?

Not really. I'm guessing you're saying this because of the lack of Snake and because the story is almost a repeat of the Shadow Moses incident in Metal Gear Solid 2, but honestly, Metal Gear Solid 2 holds a higher ground on there.
1) The game is much longer. Whereas the Shadow Moses start to end can be finished in a mere three hours, you simply take longer in this game with everything.
2) Sons of Liberty's improved gameplay just holds a superior grudge. Now I know they really didn't change all that much, but the differences that were made just made it better and better.
3) How much I like the story of Shadow Moses and how deep it goes, Sons of Liberty's story feels... I wouldn't say better, they'd rank the same, but it just has something above it to me.
4) For the second time, they made an awesome cast once again. Fatman is one of my favourite character all time and the other cast members were just as great. Yes, I even count Raiden. Why? Because if you take your attention away from the no-Snake-hatred then you can see how great a character they made him. Sure, he's emo and whiny, but his character developments felt great.
5) The character development on Otacon's was great. We've had seen all of Snake in Shadow Moses and almost knew nothing about poor nerdy Otacon, except that his grandfather creates bombs and that he's a mechafan. This just felt awesome.
6) The plot twists on the end were great. I'd say better than the previous one because I didn't really saw it coming.
Now, don't get me wrong. I love Shadow Moses and Snake Eater equally much as Sons of Liberty, but they all have different places of love fr me. If I had to choose one single favourite, I'd choose Sons of Liberty because it resembles Shadow Moses in plot and has improved gameplay. You get the feeling of two games in one because you can look back, at certain events, to how the story developed in a similar way in Shadow Moses.
PS: I call 1 Shadow Moses to make it better to read than the constant "part 1".

Meh, don't worry, it's just a lame drinking game that does nothing new, just rehashes old ideas. One person bounces a ball across the table and tries to get a ball in another player's cup. Basically it's "get the ball in the cup" with drinking. :\

I prefer the PSX version. It looks so smooth. That game is quite difficult though, I don't think they can actually make a board game of it.
