I fainally got Dance Gavin Dances new Album Happiness, and I freaking love it to death.
I had to post a topic on how much I love it. :w00t:
-
Dance Gavin Da... Who the **** are they??
Is it rock or what?

It sounds ok, its the kind of music I like.
-
Yea, Its calming and great. thats why it's called happiness :3
-
Sounds like faggot music.
I like it.
-
lol Kinda response I expect from archem
-
Glad to hear that I'm so predictable.
-
No, except I was kinda sad when I saw your post, until I scrolled down.
Then I was happy again, and I thought, only archem likes to make to feel like s*** even if only for a second.
-
As always.
The music is ok, just reminds me of alot of other music I've heard.
-
I was kinda sad when I saw your post
Sounds like a faggot post.
Still sounds like a faggot post.
-
I like it.
-
I call foul play! Eh, I'll listen and see what the hub-bub is about..
-
I'm not liking it.
Also, the first thing I thought of when I saw "Dance Gavin Dance" was the "Dance Magic Dance (I think)" part in Labyrinth.
-
that was sneaky Archem, you win this time.
-
If I had the patience to be sneakier, you wouldn't have seen the second part until page 2.
Well will you look at that? It's page 2!
-
Ninja like post abilites

I'm on the fence about Dance Gavin Dance. I wasn't aware they had a new album out, but I have their other albums. I really like the music behind them, but I'm finding it extremely hard to get past the vocals. In between the screaming that makes you think they might have some kind of coughing-up-blood fetish, and the lead singer's whiny, effeminate singing... I don't know. It wouldn't be the first time I'd have to get used to the vocals of a band to appreciate their music, though.
I'll make sure to check out this new album.
-
Its okay, people rarely do. ;__;''
Then again, I never know half the bands you guys talk about.
And on a side note, I got the orange box today. So I'm pretty happy.
-

I found about them a little through surfing iTunes, a little through the fact that their producer also helped a few other cool bands, and a little through you.
That, and I just tend to know about a lot of obscure music.
And on a side note, I got the orange box today. So I'm pretty happy.
Are you on Steam? :D
-
No uberpwn, this is on Xbox 360 :3
I don't have a good enough CPU.
I MIGHT play tonight :3
-
Fack.
I need more friends on Steam QQ
-
My friend used to say fack all the time
Though I need more friends on Xbox live :(
-
Sorry, can't help you there. XP

What if I said Megadeth?

God help me, I will slap you if you say "no".

Ouch.

Indeed. *goes back to playing his collection of awesome Source mods only avaliable on PC*
EDIT: Listened to this band. Shitty generic affeminate vocals punctuated by really bad death-growling. And honestly the music sounds pretty bad too.
-
Don't worry, AFL. Megadeth (eph spelling), like most metal/80's hair bands, is not all that fantastic.
-
Sir, you have just signed you death warrant.
-
Seriously, I have pretty varied tastes musically. Somebody will undoubetly call me old or something for saying it, but this group is not good. And they arent doing anything particularly original. Call me closed minded if you want, Im sure you will....but i can safely say that this is crap.
I have a few ipods and 2 computers full of all sorts of crazy assorted musics. And this garbage wont find its way into my collection.
Just my humble opinion though.

Why not both. Go all Campbell on 'im.

I like the way you think. :D

I was just about to say "can we have both?", but you guys posted too quickly.
Peeps 'round here love theys Megadeth.

Thanks little buddy.

Few of these "new" music acts end up near me. Not enough win is involved.
-
I wont lie...Ive seen some amazing shows in the last few months alone.
Who knew Edmonton was a good city for small and intimate Bar shows.
Seriously, I saw TV on the Radio a couple weeks back in a club that held about 80. Best **** ever

I don't like them, but that's why I'm in Texas.
We don't like things.

Fair point, although I doubt the vocalist would suddenly improve to an acceptable level between songs.

A little late but as to the conversation ealier the xbox is better than playstation. Sorry to the 90% of people who believe otherwise, but yes its true.

Uh, we were saying the PC version was better. Learn to read the topic before you post, bro. Anyway, both consoles are the ****ing same with a couple redundant exclusives.

And the small part that the PS3 is slightly more powerful.
Doesn't mean peoples use the extra power, though.
It's just...there.

Yea his voice sounds different in alot of his songs, but It's still not low pitched. of course. But his singing seems to be differend per song.

Then link me to other songs. Ill give them an honest try out...I just am skeptical is all...i cant see much variation coming from this.
edit:
Additionally, my "Facts of hate/like"?!? You mean my opinions? Because you realise that i am allowed to form an opinion based on as little as I see fit right? Thar is the beauty of an opinion. But since thus far my opinion HAS been based off of one song, allow me to reiterate... This band sucks.

Nice job jumping the gun there, you going pro? or semi-pro?

Well, enjoy your fail.
This is what I was talking about.
He was saying it was fail because he has it on PC, and thus has the immensly better version due to access to the grand library of source mods, and being able to play it with a mouse and keyboard.

No arguing those facts.
-
Yeah, I downloaded the trial for Portal on 360...holy **** it was not nearly as fun as on PC
-
I love this post so much.
It's just a simple fact. Certain companies, Nintendo in particular, somehow get a reputation of caring for their fans, when the basic truth is that if they could sell their customers poison gas and get away with it, they would.

Don't forget that TF2 on a console is like an abandoned child who nobody loves.
-
well sorry, but I suck with keyboard FPS's.
After playing Halo3 and Gear and all. playing an FPS on anything else is meh to your fingers.
-
Well crap.. ;_; Well I'm sorry I work on old PC titles like Unreal and Doom... :(
Damn consoles...
-
I played doom for 64 and Unreal for Dreamcast.
-
You can hardly make a Charas Doom of Doom 64. Or add a giant mech in Unreal for Dreamcast. You can't play as monsters on either console game either. You can't add custom weapons, levels, sound effects, or script anything in. You can't even play Return to NaPali.
OOOOH! I bet you've seen from my YT channel all that I've done with both games. >_> That doesn't include the Rick Astley boss. I'm still working on the Rick Astley boss for GZDoom. Anyways, I thought being owned by giant mecha robots was fun.
Edit: Also, I think you mean UT, it had cut content as I recall.
-
I think.
I played Unreal for a cpu. Just never owned it personally to get good at. The mods were sweet. Freaking Bow and arrow that shoots out smiley faces.
Or a handgun that has redemmer explosion shells upon impact.
I've seen your YT channel :3.
and I loved Doom 64 just because. >__<''
I did own Unreal 3 for the 360. But a friend of mine failed and lost it.
-
Doom 64 had cool graphics admittedly. But anyways, I should make a video of the many times my Mecha Drone enemies swarmed and killed me. XD For a while I couldn't beat my own creation, they'd all team up and slaughter me. XD
Also, I think your referring to ChaosUT for Unreal Tournament, not sure exactly though. I own that too. Hm... so far I've been having fun with my werewolf player and the blob. Sticking to and scaling walls is fun. XD
-
>__<''
lol.
I understand the feeling of not being able to beat your own creations. I've come to the conclusion that trying to kill Angemon without using skills is suicide.
-
I played Unreal for a cpu.
*resisting OCD urge*
*on-topic*:
I suck at FPS's, so I don't normally play them.
I instead play awethum things like DC2 and Metroid and um...DMC...maybe some Fallout 3...*rambles*
*even more on-topic*
For the longest time I was unable to finish the little corkscrew magic puzzle room in Kyoob, so I had to debug to the next room.
Also, it took me a little while to figure out a strategy for the Jacker.
-
DC2 was amazing. and guys, I think were 3 miles off the road, were almost on a different highway.
-
PC not CPU, PC not CPU, sheesh! There, I corrected him, now there's no need to be prepubescent school nerds... AGAIN.
-
I apologize DF, it's just starting to get on my nerves, due to an immense amount of spelling OCD.
-
I forget that alot. although in all honesty I just don't care.
-
He was saying it was fail because he has it on PC, and thus has the immensly better version due to access to the grand library of source mods, and being able to play it with a mouse and keyboard.
I do completely agree with that, games are alot more fun on pc than on any system, mostly because of the mods. I wouldn't be so addicted to Oblivion if it were for the mods made for it.
-
Yea. I love War craft 3 because of the skins that people make. I loved playing Anime wars because I always played as Chrono. :3
But on Modded game, I've only Played Unreal and Garys Mod.
-
well sorry, but I suck with keyboard FPS's.
Not important, because anyone can learn, and once you learn, it's easily better. That's fact, not opinion.
That, and you're never getting any updates or free content. My TF2 folder has doubled in size from release because of all the love Valve puts into its (PC) games. The console ports are kind of like trial versions of the games that you have to pay for.
-
And if you're so used to console controls, you can hook up a wired Xbox 360 controller to your computer and use that. There are drivers for it that can be easily found.
I think you can do it with wireless controllers to, but I also think that it requires an adapter that costs money.
-
CPU!

Actually, I'm quite certain that Valve packs Xbox 360 compatibility in with their games these days. Plug in a 360 controller, wait for the drivers to auto-install, set up your controls in the options menu, and go. Full, superior experience, complete control customization (if I remember correctly, Valve didn't include this in the console version of The Orange Box), graphics that can scale to your computer rather well, mods, Valve's PC-only added content (tons of it, and they keep making more), and all that goodness. Really, it's foolish to grab The Orange Box on a console if you have a computer that can play a game from the last five or six years without too much trouble.
-
True, so true, and my computer can, I'm one lucky bas- I mean... dude.
People tend to debate mods but all it does is add content to a game. That's all. They are the elitist (the always serious, no fun guys who you must wonder why they even care to play games in the first place) minority anyhow. I need to get me a full set of Valve games.
-
And if you're worried about your computer being able to run the games, the 9+ year old piece of junk I'm on right now can run Half Life 2 on medium.
Just... Yeah. The PC version is a better option in every way.
-
If someone wants to buy it for me. So for it :3
-
Buy it for you? The individual games from The Orange Box are $20 a piece (and usually containt extra games). Hell, I think The Orange Box itself has dropped to about $20. Buy it yourself; it's not expensive.

Actually, mods are full-on games. Custom content might be what you're referring to (skins, models, sounds, etc.). Mods, like Insurgency, Portal: Prelude, Poke646, Zombie Panic!, and others are usually full games that simply require that you own a game that uses the engine and resources that they're borrowing. If I didn't know the Source engine as well as I do, I might not know that the recently released NEOTOKYO° was even made using Half-Life 2.
But hey, I'm an elitist who is far too serious about these things to enjoy my games. What good are my words?
-
I don't know where to buy them Eh.
I give up.
-
Believe it or not Archem, there exists a class of people who are extremely anti-mod and will troll you for being a modder.
I don't know where to buy them Eh.

Pssst, by the way, Unreal's source code was released and so was Doom's. Know what that means... >.>
-
Balls of steel?

inert?
-
Balls of steel?
...that would have worked if I said "Duke Nukem". Nah, I'm just saying the games are public.
-
Oh, thats all in good
-
Believe it or not Archem, there exists a class of people who are extremely anti-mod and will troll you for being a modder.
That's mostly console games, since modifying the content breaks the EULA, is almost always a form of cheating, and is something that deserves to be trolled. In PC gaming, mods are usually a good thing. Most online games have some form of cheat detection that will prevent modifications to an otherwise standardized game that would give a player an upper hand (larger hitboxes, enemy player info, etc.). These are considered cheats, not mods. You seem to be a bit misinformed.
-
XD I am 100% not misinformed in this matter. Your not understanding me. Perhaps I'm not being very clear. There are people around who shun ANY form of PC game mods, even if to add content and non-cheating. They call this a "slap in the face to the game designers". I don't know where this crap started but this is the people of whom I refer. They are a minority, but it increased somewhat recently.
This definitely exists. They don't care what KIND of mod it is, they just say it is "wrong" and "most mods are lame anyways". :\ Seriously, these people exist, they've buggered me before. I don't make cheat mods either to PC games. If anything I made them harder.
But to clarify, there are people, and on some boards the dominant group, that hate any and all mods, period, unless made by the maker of the game. Yeah. :\
Edit: I think their class is called Vanilla Gamers or something, not entirely sure. They believe in playing games only in their pure unmodified state, the only exceptions they will make is OFFICIAL addons. And there are zealot versions that will hunt you down and harass you for being a modder.
Edit 2: And I apologize for being nonspecific. I didn't mean to target anybody here.
-
This entire post was created before additions to the source post were made. Some elements may be invalidated or appear awkward as a result. No modifications will be made to the original post, since I may get hunted down by The Wrongest of the Wrong.
Oh. They must be extremely closed-minded and numbering in the hundreds world wide. Never heard of such a ridiculous thing, especially since almost all developers these days started with modding. It's almost necessary. Hell, custom maps for games are included in this! If you try to apply to a development studio as a mapper, but have no portfolio because you believe that making custom content for a game with provided tools and encouragement from the developers to Make Something Unreal* is immoral, then you'll get rejected outright. After all, any commercial game that's made with a game engine or resources that aren't created in-house is just a professional mod (this includes sequels that use recycled content, expansion packs, or anything that uses a popular game engine, such as Bioshock, Left4Dead, and Rainbow 6). These people are about as wrong as humanly possible, and by even mentioning them in any form of argument, you don't exactly help yourself.
* The Make Something Unreal contest is an annual competition hosted by Epic and various computer hardware/software companies that task various independent development teams to create the best game mod possible using the current version of the popular Unreal Engine series. Prizes include large cash awards (up to $1 million) advanced computer hardware, and employment at game studios (this isn't an official prize, but participants get noticed in the industry).
-
I wasn't arguing. I was making note of an annoyance I've had to deal with as a modder.
-
I'm not arguing, either. Well, mebe a little, but not necessarily with you.
More like against the points you're raising. You're not full of holes, they are.
-
I don't know where to buy them Eh.
I give up.
Download Steam. You don't even need to go to a store (although you can if you are stupid and want to pay extra).

Yadood.
1. Download Steam
2. Get Orange Box from online store
3. ???
4. Profit
-
Download Steam. You don't even need to go to a store (although you can if you are stupid and want to pay extra).
Not necessarily true. Some products that are available through Steam can be found for less than standard Steam prices (retailers occasionally have reduced prices to move inventory. Valve's titles in particular see these kind of price drops, since a large amount of their sales are through Steam, not through retail), but Steam has just about the best prices if the product you want is on sale.
Seriously. I got Bioshock for $5 from Steam. Their prices during sales are ridiculously low.
-
How the hell does this relate to the first page, I must ask
I skipped pages 2-6 so I have no idea what's going on.
But yeah, TF2 is much, much, MUCH better on the PC than it is on consoles. My two cents, although I suspect the currency is all wrong.
I mean about the using the 360 on the PC, how often do games come along where it is better to use the 360 controller over mouse and keyboard? The only games I can think of are, well, console games that are ported or emulated. Not FPS, that's for sure.
-
Halo.
No, really, I can't stand playing Halo (or Halo 2) with mouse and keyboard. I suppose it's because the games were built around the Xbox controller, but with mouse and keyboard, it just feels wrong. Unnatural even. Third-person shooters don't feel right, either. Or driving game, or platformer, or... Well, there are some other things, but they're not really because of their genre so much as their controls.
But yeah, some things just feel wrong without a controller. When accuracy and precision are important, it can't be beat. When more than four/eight-way movements are important, mouse and keyboard kind of fall flat.
Oh, wait, how we got here... Uh... Felix did it.
-
controller. When accuracy and precision are important, it can't be beat.
See I don't think I could possibly disagree more regarding accuracy and precision while using a controller for FPSes. That's mouse territory. Excluding the aforementioned Halo, which I have not played on the PC.
-

Music I do hear to my ear, a voice of reason? (well okay, it is text but you get the idea) Ah yes, the mouse is my tool of choice for precision shooting as well!
-
And speed. That said, I don't like playing on PC much. I played SH, RE4 and FEAR and it's counter parts, and i liked consoling better.
Console=comfort.
-

Sorry, I seem to have made my post a bit difficult to understand right there at the end. That last paragraph had a few edits and revisions, so the original intent was kind of marred. I meant to say that pinpoint accuracy was mouse and keyboard territory, while full-range movement was controller's grounds. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
-
Well in that case, internet high five
-
*follows through*
-
Halo plays fine on both in my opinion. But then again, I adapt easily so it's not really fair to count my vote.
Also, I agree that The Orange Box should be bought for the PC. I myself bought it for the 360, which is fun, but lacking extremely. Especially when it comes to Team Fortress 2. We've only gotten minor updates to fix bugs and errors, but the big ones are still hidden away. No extra maps, no character updates. At least time I checked, which was about a month ago.
And I do like getting some FPS games for the PC mainly when it comes to multiplayer. Making custom maps has always been that much easier when it comes to the PC, if it even is possible on the consoles.
-
I prefer the controller with any FPS, but when it comes to accuracy and things like that when dealing with RTS's theres theres just no beating the mouse and keyboard. Halo Wars was ok, alot of people put it down but I think it was huge leap for console RTS's.
-
No...I couldn't handle Halo wars. It lacked variation, I mean every battle played out just about the exact same manner. Because there was no base customization and no free building placement, and your resources constantly replenished.
-
These factors did bother me a little. I guess its suppose to be more action oriented than other RTS's.
-
No...I couldn't handle Halo wars. It lacked variation, I mean every battle played out just about the exact same manner. Because there was no base customization and no free building placement, and your resources constantly replenished.
Whaaaaaaat!? And this is a RTS? Blasphemy!
-
We have learned that RTSes must be simplified if you want to make it on a console.
...But then again, nobody wants their RTSes on a console.
-
No...I couldn't handle Halo wars. It lacked variation, I mean every battle played out just about the exact same manner. Because there was no base customization and no free building placement, and your resources constantly replenished.
Christ, that's barely even an RTS.
-
I've played Red Alert 3 on the 360. The controls are a bit iffy at certain parts (like trying to make your units assault move instead of making them stand in order, especially in a rush) but the building menus are done really well.
-
When it comes to RTS, I'll take a mouse over a controller any day.
-
Same.
Wait, I don't even like RTSes! What do I care?
-
Same.
Wait, I don't even like RTSes! What do I care?
Because the mouse is awesome that way?
-
Only RTS on consoles I can work with is Warhammer: Battle March for the 360. People complain about the contols but it's the best I've had on a console.
-
I've been playing WC3 recently, I'd have to say It took awhile to get used to all the buttons. But I'd say 46 keys (not counting the F1's) that are used on WC3 beats the average of 11 buttons on a controller.
-
Alot of people give RTS's for consoles crap, but I have to say I loved star craft for the N64. It was one of the best things ever back when it first came out.
-
Star Craft on the 64?
Hmm...*checks out*
-
Yeah I didn't know it existed eitehr till I played it with my cousins. I dont think they ever advertised it.
-
Ugh, I remember reading about that a long time ago. I thought it was such a stupid idea. I also thought that Diablo on PlayStation was a bad idea.
Well, I was mostly right.
-
Huh...SC64 isn't that bad.
Well, on emu at least. They might suck using an old 64 controller.
-
It did suck using a N64 controller. But the N64 controller was just made horribly.
-
Ugh, I remember reading about that a long time ago. I thought it was such a stupid idea. I also thought that Diablo on PlayStation was a bad idea.
Well, I was mostly right.
Played them, they weren't good. Diablo on PSX is slow and annoying and SC64 just doesn't feel right.
-
Command and Conquer seems to work fine on the N64. Controller is, obviously, harder to use than mouse and keyboard but it's doable.
-
the N64 controller was just made horribly.
Then why do I love it so much?
Actually, I already know the answer to that: Porn and horrors. I can't elaborate, because there are children in the room. Plus, the picture I'd attach would get me at least temp banned.
-
I could use my imagination.
Not sure if I want to though.
-
No need to lie, we all know you wanted and actually did it already.

I thought SC64 was one of the 64's better games and I loved the 64 more than then PS1. The controller was awesome for everything but FPS's. Though it did have my favorite zelda games on it, and the controllers were perfect for those.

Are you serious? The controller was actually made so you could not physically reach all the buttons without mobing your hand's position on the controller. This is poor design.
-
So you couldn't use the d-pad or L? Big deal! No games ever actually used them (and if they did, they didn't end up needing one of the other wangs on the controller).
This applied to third-party, too.

Who cares if the software created work arounds, the hardware should be made for humans, not strange 3 handed mutant-men.

Fact: The N64 tripod controller was made solely around Mario 64. The stick and -pad being ways to walk, yellow d-pad to move camera, and buttons to be buttons.
Every game had to adjust to this controller because Nintendo wanted to have a controller for AN ENTIRE CONSOLE just for ONE SINGLE GAME.
This is bad design. Bad design, failure. The PSX controller is way superior than the N64 controller mainly because you can use all the buttons at the time instead of a certain group. If you haven't noticed, but most N64 games use multiple buttons for a single action. Flawed design. The PSX clearly wins controller wise.
Though, this ain't saying anything about games. Games differ per person more than the controller. I would also say something about the Dreamcast, but quite frankly, I've only touched a Dreamcast once in my life.

Im sorry this is just not true. The 64 controller while not very applicable with FPS, was built very well to fit just about every game for the 64, the D pad was hard to use but seeing as these buttons were mainly used for camera angles or just nothing at all it didnt matter all that much. The controller worked perfect with both zelda games, and between them Mario 64, and Goldeneye (though didnt work very well with controller) they were some of the most sold games on the 64. Other games such as Banjo, Rayman, miscillaneous fighting games the controller worked just as well as a PSX controller.
-
The dreamcast's size of controller kinda made it hard, but When your playing games Like Time stalkers, or skies of Arcadia that doesn't become a problem. The game Fur-fighters was 3rd person shooter that I felt had perfect controls for a game like that.

You're missing a point here. It EXCLUDES an entire category of game. That's like saying a song is good if you exclude the vocals. No it's not. The guitar is good then, the song still gets raped. The controller still gets raped. Besides, tripod? WTF?
With the PSX, you can grap any game you want and learn the controls in a matter of minutes. With the N64, some controls take fucklong to learn. I'm speaking from recent experience, of course. I have loads of years of experience with the N64, didn't use it for four years and playing on it again. Took me a goddamn long time for 50% of the games to learn again. And I'm not talking about just two games, 50% average of 16.
-
I picked up most the games I played quickly, Donkey Kong 64 Banjo-Tooie, Mario Kart, Super Smash Brothers, and Golden Eye. Hell we had a night where we played all these games multiplayer mode, and not a single person complained about controls. It's nothing different, I find it to be no excuse to blame the controller itself. Either I'm some prodigy, or you just hate the N64 controller itself.
-
I never has too much trouble with the N64 controller, but I have fair sized hands, might be too much for people with smaller hands. XD
>_>
<_<
Also I like Super Mario 64.

We cant help your a bit... slow... J/K most people I talk to didnt have a problem with the N64 controller the only people I know who REALLY complain about about the 64 controller are the ones who had sex with thier PS1, and jerked it to PSX magazines.

This is getting annoying. *shoots you*
-
*Cast's stop on bullet*
Not on my watch :badboy:

Wait, this garbage is all YOUR fault. *punches you, then punches Rahl for trolling*
-
I have small hands okay! I'm only 177 cm... Lemme see, that's about 5.7 feet? Though, still. Super Smash Brothers, easy. Works like a charm. Goldeneye, I can manage it. Doom 64, okay, but could be way better. Turok? **** it. There are more, but I'm too lazy to look through my library.

Wait, this garbage is all YOUR fault. *punches you, then punches Rahl for trolling*
Hey, this got outta hand WITHOUT my supervision. All I did was mention orange box :'(
-
Turok was an awesome game, I just wish they would have brought a sequel to do it justice since it came out on the 64.

Turok 2: Seeds of Evil (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turok_2:_Seeds_of_Evil)
Never played it, so don't know if it's crap. Turok Rage Wars is fun to play with friends on the N64 and I liked the 360 game.

Bottom line both systsems AND thier controllers were truley awesome, some of us just prefer one to the other, as I prefer 64.

No, because I never owned one and therefore everyone that did just sucks.
