I mean, really. Most of us spend our days looking at the computer, chatting with people that we have never actually met before, playing or making games, and a few like to draw or work with music.
And thats all. We have no lives outside the computer.
Of course, there are exceptions. I myself have a nice number of friends and hang out with them often. But still. During a huge part of my day, I am just pathetic. And so are most of you.
Talk about it.

We aren't THAT pathetic. Our definitions must be different. At least we ARE talking to other human beings. I have a social life, as well as a Part-Time job, and soon I will be joining the 9-5 world of work. I'm sure others have the same. Those of us aged below 17 or 18 have to attend school, which forces us to deal with other people every day, face to face.
I understand what you mean, and while I don't really understand the sudden outburst, I say that we aren't all that bad. Charas is like a big family (a rather dysfunctional one at times, haha), and the limitations of where we live is not stopping us from talking to people with common interests with uncommon living locations and cultures.

I'm starting to get a little frustrated here. I'd rather be part of an online community doing things that I enjoy, and discussing everything with like-minded individuals, than being with a bunch of stupid jocks or "cool kids" that get into trouble and peer pressuring you into bad situations. I tried that. I didn't like it. I created a close group of friends and overall felt much secure about myself and others were happy. From what I understand, Charas is sort of like the same strong, close community. Hell, we're close to invincible. From reading our well-documented history (thank you Saikar), I was surprised to hear all of the stuff that went on before I even came here, and during my absence.

Ha-ha! True. I don't consider myself pathetic for being here, I'm all around too. Different places. I actually IMPROVED my grammar partially from the internet. After seeing how most people typed, I wanted to type properly. And when I was feeling down, I joined Charas and made my first friends there. Heck, I started spriting on Charas.
I'm really not ashamed at all.

No, I don't think it's pathetic. I like it like this. Besides, I have a gf; I have friends; I have a band; I am doing a course starting in September. So no, it's not pathetic and most of the rest here aren't either.
Also, as Darkfox noted, it has improved my grammar. Significantly to me, just look up some of my older posts. I larf if I read how I used to write.

I get paid for it. And I have this beach half a mile away, and a mall just down the hill. A bit further than that there's a nightclub. I go to these places every week. There's 24 hours in a day, I sleep 6 and am in the computer around 6 other hours. take about 45 mins to eat all together a day. Spend about 7 minutes in the bathroom all together, 12.25 minutes in the shower. that's still about 9+ hours for me to either: play games, or run errands for a lot of people. Which is usually the latter.
I WISH I SPENT MY WHOLE DAMN TIME ON THE PC. LIFE WOULD BE EASIER.
*sigh* I miss being young.

Well, if it's any consolation to the more anti-social among us, they're making pretty good progress with virtual reality. So there probably won't be a distinction between the internet and real life in the next 30 years or so.

Uh, I spend a good amount of time on the computer being lame, but I'm okay with it 'cuz I still get out a lot and have plenty of friends. I don't know, I enjoy the time on the computer making games, writing music/stories/lyrics or just surfing forums, because it's kind of like "me time."

No, this is something different.
What this is, I'd wager, is Lucas having a self-realising moment, and in an act of desperation, taking it out on all of us. As if he knew any of us.
It's all generalisations targeted at a certain clique of people, internet users, on a place he's most easily going to find them - THE INTERNET.
That said, using the computer a lot does not make you pathetic. Chatting with people on the internet? Making friendships on the internet? How does that make you pathetic? It's socialising. Socialing is important. Humans have been doing it forever. Doing in through the internet makes it easier, since we can hide all our insecurities and just talk.
Playing and making games? Drawing and working to music? How are these things pathetic? Seriously?
Maybe it's all pathetic to the stereotpyical sports jock, but that just goes back to generalising again.

Yeah, in all seriousness, I've adapted to a state of mind that doesn't really even allow for self-pity. Much like Fortet, I have no regrets. The time I spend is well spent. What other people choose to think of it is irrelevant.
I used to have a low self-esteem, but not anymore. I'm not pathetic. At least, that's what I think, and that's all that matters.
Like I've said before, I live by the mantra "I don't care."

I'd choose to sit around my computer playing any game rather than going with my semi-friend classmates to some party where they all drink far too much, start throwing up at the floors and being awfully rude to every women in sight. Actually, they all just pick fights, listen to the same crappy music over and over, talk **** about everyone, mention how people are in bed ect.
I mean, I might not be as "social" as them party people but I don't mind. Hell, I rather enjoy the internet company of people who aren't afraid to say that they like videogames.
My classmates are all "No videogame talk now, we need to shine for the ladies" even in school. They act all cool and tough but once we get home from school we boot up Warcraft 3 or L4D and play for 5 hours.
People are ashamed of videogames simply because girls don't like guys who play Super mario galaxy on the weekends.
But hey - their loss. They could just've scored a guy who cares about them and treat them with respect if they could overlook the fact that they play videogames when she's not seeing him.
So no, we are not pathetic. Fashion bros and bitchy girls are pathetic wasting their lives in an imaginary party world where they are in centre. Hoping that someone will think they are hot/read their blog/watch her facebook/stalk her on twitter so that she gets a movie part or 3 seconds in a phone commercial - or god forbid" Getting into "Do you think you can dance?" or "Idol".
At least I'm doing something with my life. I'm not dancing it away.

Myself, I'm as introverted as possible on that area. Hate acting all high and mighty because I got some booty, it's not that big a deal.
EDIT: Took some time to read more, about hiding that you play the vidya. Lame. I don't hide my hobbies, they shouldn't either. Either you get a girl who doesn't mind when you game or you're obviously going to get a bitch who's not gonna let you enjoy your hobby anymore. One of my best friends has that problem, poor sob.

I'm rarely on the computer (since I don't actually OWN one ;__;'') and also spend some time on Halo3 or Star Ocean 4.
I also recently picked up Banjo-Tooie. :3 Most of my time is spend outside doing stuff, which is either stuff on my video I posted, Break dancing, or just walking around the town with friends.

You know one of my best friends was a jock-like person by appearance, but underneath he was die hard FF fan? Of Course we had a least three pepole in our card playing club that were true geeks and one guy who was War Historian wannabe (very crazy dude). What you do is talk to all sorts of pepole and eventually you'll find someone with your interests.......then they'll transfer to another school or graduate and leave you all alone. Sorry I'm not helping am I? :P Just get out there already! I mean what's your rank in high school anyway? Like Sofmore or what? Because you realy don't meet the interesting pepole in high school until your Junior year in my opinion.

Tsk, Tsk. Your missing out on alot. I'm semi alone myself and let me tell you. It may feel okay now, but eventually you'll need human contact. We're built to interact with other pepole. Oh well maybe you'll find someone who shares you likes in real life, but I doubt it. If you anything like I was, you proby try to explain how it's not "the-game's-fault" that your freind was killed, it was programed to do that and they kind of look at like your weird. No body likes to have the game explained I think. Well I do. I love learning from every game I play how to better improve my own, but I'm a rare breed of person.

And I know it's apparently not cool to have sympathy for people anymore, but what turns me off about Encyclopedia Dramatica is how damn hateful the whole thing is. They tear into everyone from a girl who happens to have an unfortunate appearance to someone who's a complete ace at webcomic'ing but deserves their wrath for some inexplicable reason. Some cases warrant a little bit of snark, like that David Gonterman guy, but how many people actually deserve the amount of vitriol these guys spew?

To be honest, I much prefer "nerds" to jocks and chavs. It depends how you use the term.
I tend to get a nice balance, almost like I have an alter ego. During the day, I do Taekwondo,
see friends, see my girlfriend and play guitar. Then at night time I go on here and play Team Fortress 2
for about 6 hours in a row.

I have not read the previous comments nor do I intend to take the time to. I not only sit around making looking at and discussing games I go out and see parts of the world people where I live could only dream of ever seeing in thier lifetimes, even in my college where it numbers in the thousands I am the exception when it comes to travelin. I count myself beyond blessed that I get to see these things and do not count myself as pathetic as such. And for those who do just sit at thier computer all day, life may just not be as exciting to them as it is to others. Some such as myself prefer a fantasy world where all things are possible and have creation at our very fingertips. Back in the day before coputers people like us were called readers and writers, and before that they were just day dreamers. But now we can see our fantasys come to life and the reality we would rather live in become semi-reality. It is this state of fiction that makes us happy and the ultimate goal of one person in life is happiness. We just choose to be happy in a different way than some.

Now, in my case, I'm stuck in Douglasville, GA, I have no knowledge of how to drive, no one that I really relate to in this complex I live in, my mom's been gone for over a month, leaving me and my dad with a beaten down car with bad tags so I can't go out much lately. Even so, their too lazy drive me over my friends house and my friends don't know how to drive. I've recently moved here a year ago, I was in Villa Rica before that. But, where we live, the nearest store is pretty much 5 miles away, so I'm really just stuck here.
But, I do little projects while I'm here like build a few models, mod an arcade stick or other things. So, I'm good.
