Well, my buddy made a battle animation of the First Tsurugi. (From FFVII: Advent Children - basically a sword that splits into six smaller swords. It's cooler than it sounds.) For the hell of it, I want to throw it in my game, but the weapon itself is a battle animation and not a battle weapon, and by the looks of it, it's too big to fit into a battle weapon.
I know that I can just put my character's sprite on the sheet, but I don't have a sprite for her yet. And also, what if I wanted to have multiple characters use it? There's only four frames left (the swords take up the rest), so I'd have to make a separate sheet for every character. So does anyone know any way to make a battle animation into a weapon without changing the sheet itself?
In case it's needed, I'm also attaching the sheet.

The funny part about using battle animations as heroes is that every pose does not need to be a battle animation.
Say you copy that sheet there and add all your characters to it.
You can have some poses with the sword and then others as the ordinary battlechar you're already using.
You can make individual sheets for each character, there is no problem with that. But will you actually use all those sword poses?
As for battle animation > weapon. Far too large I'd say.
But you can make a battle animation of the sword (like Sword 1, Bow 1, Punch A ect) and add it as the weapon attack. You'll have to mess around and have it match the movement of the character's hand.
It's kinda like an illusion, you'll have that there sword attack the monster but at the same time place it so it looks like the character is holding it.
Might take some time and patience though.
