Title: [Full] Paradise Blue
Post by: Oceans Dream on July 29, 2009, 05:23:22 AM
Paradise Blue

Backstory
In the old Island of Azulea, the natives are pushed away from the land they once held. The ones who conquered the land have settled and created a new civilization on the Island. Now that the King is near death, there are 2 groups that are fighting for the throne.

Characters
4 Guards: You play as these guards. Their gender/class/name can be chosen. They don't have a speaking role.
Neil: A 23 year old Blue Mage. He had a job in the castle, but was removed with a dispute with Llorcan.
Amelia: An 20 year old girl who tends to be really mean. She's an Assassin, but her task is to assist Abigail in acquiring special Tokens.
Lord Javier: A ruler of Marsall. He cares about women more than he does anything else. He tends to exploit both citizens of his town and the government for his own gain.
Amaro: Amaro is in charge of Lotus. He and Salomon are fighting for the crown. Amaro is the nephew of the King and the closest in line for the throne. He is a nice honest person, but also a coward and usually takes orders from Llorcan. He doesn’t like violence so he tries to stop the conflict that would go on.

Hiring an NPC

About the game
You can change your class once you beat the 1st boss. Before then, you can choose which starting class you want your characters to be, out of 6 of them (Fighter, White Mage, Black Mage, Red Mage, Thief, Monk). You gain ABP after a battle, so once you get enough ABP, the character can learn an ability from their class.

There are 40 quests in the game.

You can hire people in the towns to help you in battle. Some may use abilities like boosting your magic power, walking speed, letting you attack first, and more.

It'd be nice to hear what you have to say about it! Also, yeah I was gonna go with blue and white but I liked the vine look too.

Also, looks like you gave in and gave the battles some backgrounds+floor, huh? =P

Yep! I was just experimenting with it in one, and my friends said it looked good so I decided to just use it for all of them.

Hurrah! Just went and got the Dancer Job Class after completing that Music Box quest. It played out much differently than I remembered it from the demo! Also, the first boss was harder.

I has:

Red Mage.
Thief.
White Mage.
Black Mage.

Never tried the dancer yet, but I plan on switching over later! Also, I love just wandering around seeing who has quests to give me.

Gotta say though, the style of thsi game is just plain awesome. All original stuff (or near all), and it just looks and feels great. Definitly screams "Oceans Dream!!!" when you look at them, especially with the BattleBackgrounds and monsters (except with that one that was clearly designed by JIHAUS. =B)

Yeah, I looked through 'em. >_>;

Haha, yes, I know which one.

Also, the Music box quest was changed a bit from the demo. You can still play it the normal demo way, but there are conditions should you "fail" it, so you can still get the rewards and everything.

Dancer is kind of fun, I like their Sword Dance (if it gets used), and the songs are nice for buffs when you find them.

Thank you! I have it http://tilesettutorial.wordpress.com/ here now so if anyone wants, I update that one more frequently than I do the GW one.

I hope the game doesn't disappoint!

Hoi! Wowza. I'm really lovin' this Archer Class. Also, the second boss fight against the group of archers wasn't all that hard. Granted they killed my Black Mage once his BLINK status wore off, I had most of them dead by then anyway and so I revived 'em and then finished up the battle. The key to winning is BLINK!

Also mastered the Black Mage. I didn't think mastering a class would be so easy! Ha ha. Still, it's a great deal of fun. I changed him over in to a Fighter just to have one in the party (also gave him Black Magic, as well as the MP-Walk ability).

I'm thinking my White Mage will be a Dancer once I master her. =B

White Mage has a nice MP regeneration ability when you master them. I also like the Fighters attack power + abilities and the Archers Triple Cut.

Yeah, I found Blink pretty useful particularly in the early game. Or for some battles I use Magic Hammer to get rid of their MP (may need multiple castings) and then blink when all they could do is attack.

I'm finding a lot of weird mapping glitches, I'll upload you a map of them once I screenie them all.

Sounds good, I'll go fix them when you get the screens up. I've been doing some minor edits and bug fixes too. It's funny how bug reports rarely overlap.

Weird... I can't open the folder. Says it's an invalid zip or something.

Try redownloading it? I have no access to where the file is being hosted so they may have replaced it with a new version or something while you were trying to download. If that doesn't work I'll get you another one that will.

I haven't started playing yet.  But it looks great!  I doubt I will be able to make something this well.

2 questions:
 - How did you change the font?  I'm sure it's something glaringly obvious and I could figure it out instantly by looking through the files or coding...
 - Why is there an .act file in there?  I've tried opening those type of files in the past but there seem to be no working programs in English.

I download and play when S4 gets boring.
It looks cool but not looking forward to the character you play not having personality.
I'll write a review after I play it.

There's an FF6 font file in the zip, you can install that font. That's pretty much all I did, nothing beyond that.
Also, the act files are something for the spriting program I use. They're palette files, so I can bring the palette of one image over to another. It's helpful, I just forget to remove them. Plus they take up little space so I'm not bothered by that.

Yep that sounds good, lemme know what you think! And yes, the characters you play have no personality, but they are always followed by people who do, and they will be the ones doing the talking.

I guess I was trying to open a different kind of act file...

I just realized I never sent you the graphic glitch maps.
I also think I deleted them.
I guess I'll start a new game and go to them later...

Yeah, that one was Island Sky. My current project is going to work on fixing the issues the previous game had with that.
