Title: Haven: The Shimmering Coast
Post by: carrionmarksman on August 08, 2009, 04:15:00 PM
HAVEN: The Shimmering Coast (Working Title)

;) Work in progress for sure. Still working on Story, Characters, etc. Moar to come. Keep your eyes peeled.

Story
The story, as it is slowly revealed, revolves around a young man, who in his lifetime came to run a band of
mighty warriors. The choice of character reflects his decisions in early adulthood. The introduction is thoroughly
chosen by the player.

Characters
Imperial Soldier
Raised on Imperialist morals and Chivalry. A group of the King's forces.

Paladin
Raised on selflessness, and kindness. Native to the lands of Moridia.

Mercenary
Raised in a tough environment, and learned how to take care of one's self since childhood. From the vast deserts of the west.

Warrior Monk
Raised to respect the good will of the people, and that with good deeds, one can achieve enlightenment. From the icy hills of the north.

Places
Moridia
This is the location of the game. The player will travel around the land, visiting cities and towns, and working towards an unclear,
but majestic goal.

No, it's the second. The topic for this game got bogged down with offtopic replies and got old, I wanted to start new with a nice, organized thread. I guess I just can't have that. With your comment, anyone who views the thread will probably think "this game will be terrible, because this guy can't make/stick with a game". And if I ever make any other projects, they possibly will be dismissed because "this guy makes too many projects". I have two projects going, and I'd like to keep it that way. People leaving sarcastic comments (even if you don't mean offense), generally makes me feel a lot less motivated, and drops the chance that I'll ever want to complete the project. It's a major buzzkill. If I think of a new project, I will close or cancel an old one.

Edit - And now that I think about it, I don't want to have anything to do with this project anymore. If anyone expresses interest in it, maybe I'll pick it up again.

So it's an open ended RPG? Like the kind where you can select your own character and stuff? I actually have been wanting to play one.

Thank you. Yes, I was leaning more towards that sort of thing. It will take one hell of a long time to put together, but just the mapping itself is quite fun, as well as planning different cities and stuff. I'm trying to find a way to use my pen+paper RPG combat system in the game, all I need is time to figure that out.

i would like to think people would judge a persons game on the game itself and mechanics/graphics it uses rather than base their entire decision of the game off someone elses reply.

If your one of those people then i appologize, but I on the other hand judge a game based off the game, not someones replies or opinions

Also no matter how hard you try not everyone will like what you do.  But you cant let that get you down, cause for every 10 people that hate your idea, 1 person is gonna love it, and its that small few that make it all worthwhile.

Find something YOU like and enjoy, and make it. Who cares about other people for the most part.

I understand. I know I can make it a good game, and I'm working to make that a reality. It was just the type of comment you had left which sort of turned me off from working on it.

Oh? The Advanced RPG one? Like that D&D one you showed me? That'd rock! I'd play it for that authentic feel alone. I miss paper back RPGs :'(

lol yeah. I've been wanting to do this for a long time. Right now I just purchased Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway, and Rainbow Six: Vegas 2, so I'll be a little occupied for now :P
