Recently I disabled my microphone in a feeble attempt to get Guitarport working. Now I can't find it anywhere
on my system. My microphone is plugged in but completely unrecognized. What shall I do!? I tried Device Manager
and Audio, but the microphone doesn't even come up - let alone work. I've tried google, but there's been no help
anywhere. Can anyone help? Thanks much!

Try pulling it out and plugging it back in?
-
Noooope. Tried it.

I had the same problem... so I gave up trying to use it.
My friend also had a similar problem... he found out the computer had listed it as a webcam. After he fixed that it was fine.
-
Ok computers are wierd.
The problem you are having seems like it is a usb microphone.
Usb ports cause alot of problems for example if you plugged the Microphone into a diffrent usb port than the one its is normally in it will be recognized as something else Webcam or not recognized at all.
For example if I plug my webcam or wireless into any port other than the ones wher eI originally put it when they were installed its not going to work.
My webcam won't even be recognized but if I put it in the original port it all works fine.
If this isn't your problem and your lugging the microphone into your sound card what sound card do you have?
-
You mentioned that you disassembled it. Call me crazy, but perhaps you broke it or didn't properly reassemble it? Total shot in the dark, here.
-
Oh sorry. This is a "pink" jack-in one, not a USB one. That's what makes
it more infuriating!
-
Hey, that's informative.
Still think there's a chance that the disassembly has something to do with the problem...
-
Try using the line-in jack.
-
Ok what sound card do you have?

He said disabled, not disassembled.
-
Damn, I kept thinking something sounded wrong... But every time I read it, it still looked the same.
I may be slowly turning dyslexic...

Using Sandra Software, it's just simply known as "Line In (Realtek High Definition)" and it's version 6.00.
I don't get it. The mic worked fine until I disabled and unplugged it! Arrrghh!

try right clicking in sound devices and select show disabled devices
