Just thought I'd share a project I'm working on. Maybe see what y'all think. Kind of a sweet, kiddy vibe with this one.

Elli is nine and three quarters. Elli lives in a small cottage by the woods with her mother. Elli loves the woods. Elli hasn't got many real friends to play with, but that's okay because she prefers the woods to real kids any day.
One rainy afternoon, Elli decided to go out exploring. She packed her Umbrella and said goodbye to her mother, who reminded her to be back by five o'clock because dinner was on the stove. Elli assured her that she would be.
Unfortunately, part-way though her adventure, poor Elli tripped and fell into a ravine, and was knocked unconscious. She awoke to find that night had fallen, and that she had wandered into a part of the forest she had no knowledge of- the Grey Wood. Can you help Elli find her way back home? Can you navigate the fearsome depths of the Grey Wood? And can you do it all before dinner gets cold?
Characters:
Elli
Elli is the protagonist of our tale. The only weapon at her disposal is her trusty yellow umbrella. Use it wisely!
Elli's Mother
Elli's mother is always concerned for Elli's wellbeing, and often warns her not to venture too far into the woods. Elli has no father, but that's okay because Elli's mother loves her twice as much as normal.
The Voice
The Voice is a disembodied voice that speaks to Elli as she walks through the Grey Wood. The Voice doesn't seem to come from any particular place. The Voice offers vital help and advice to Elli, so it's usually best to listen up.

Hey this looks neat.
-
I agree.
Moar plox.
-
I agree as well, it sounds pretty interesting. I also sense a slight darkish undertone.
-
Thanks for the kind words. Should be able to upload some game art later today.
I didn't make it and I haven't seen it so I guess it'll be a surprise for all of us.
-
Looks really cute, can't wait to see the finished project :)
-
Its looks awesome :D
It reminds me of Balloon Kid for some reason though
-
As long as I have the blessing of the Lord I'm fine.

Just a piece of art, drawn in a kids-book-esque style. Elli lying at the bottom of a ravine. By Jennifer Jones.
-
Nope, she's a 39 year old canadian world class curling champion. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jennifer_Jones_(curler))
-
You should totally include a dog sex scene!
-
Well, I can safely say that I didn't expect anyone to be suggesting that.
-
Oh okay a dog/child rape scene. Yeah I'm glad we've got the creative juices flowing. Before or after the scene with benny hill being played over footage of the twin towers collapsing?
-
after.
-
Sounds and looks awesome.
-
Oh okay a dog/child rape scene.
Not something you want to have at the top of a page.
Anyways, hows the gameplay going to be like?
It doesn't look like a traditional "stomp here" platformer.
Looks more like an adventure game, of which I'm not drawing any good examples.
-
XD What a wonderful little project. I love the sound of it! ^w^ It's now on my "To Play List".
-
Umm...

There's something missing, I just can't put my finger on it...
Seriously though this game sounds brilliant! I'm watchin' this thread!

Not just any dog. A bulldog.

That's actually kind of up in the air at the moment, I'm toying around with the balance of everything. At the moment it's looking rather explorationy with light puzzly.
-
This looks awesome as usual red, keepit up.
-
Nice idea! I look forward to it.
-
I'd love to give it a try sometime to be honest. I do kinda like the underlying meaning type games.
-
Darns I already want a demo. Lol.
-
Darns I already want a demo. Lol.
Me too, but I don't want to rush. I want a big demo. XD
-
I want a demo that lasts until the last second of the game. The full game would include the second the demo doesn't include.
-
I cannot wait either. Though, I still wish you would make a detective game, as you mentioned in my thread.
-
That would be awesome.
-
I kinda do want to do my detective game project, the main problem is that in my head it's a multi-part series and I'm afraid that my persistance won't match my ambition. Might pick it up, we'll see.
Anyway here's just some random screenshots to justify my bump. I could really do with help spriting maaan. The updraft specks don't look great static. Just imagine them floating upwards gracefully.

Awesome.
All I can say.
-
Looks amazing, Red. Has a very good vibe to it.

Dude, that was my first impression before I read that. Awesome! Particle effects!
-
Yeah. Goddamn particle effects. Having all those little sparks eats up proccessing speed. I'm looking into more efficient methods but generally I feel like a monkey trying to make a car out of poo.
-
You make the strangest, yet most awesome, stuff ever.
-
Very original and creative idea with a distinctive style to it. I love the look of the gray scale world with Elli in color. Keep it up.
